Recession Denim teams up with Feed the Children

Recession Denim (Kristen Stewart is a fan) has teamed up with Feed the Children, to help provide food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who have suffered greatly across the country due to the recession. Recession Denim recently donated 300 pairs of fleece leggings from the Fall collection, and will also be contributing proceeds from the sales of their denim this Holiday season to Feed The Children’s ‘Truck Sponsorship’, which will give back to the various communities where Recession Denim is sold, by sponsoring a truckload of food, personal hygiene and AVON products to families in need on a local basis.
Daniella Siri, the designer of Recession Denim created a more affordable denim brand because she saw how the struggling economy was not only affecting the people close to her, but also across the United States. By donating a portion of sales proceeds to Feed The Children, she can directly help people of local communities across the country where her jeans are sold.
“The inspiration behind Recession Denim was that an amazing pair of jeans should be available to everyone, regardless of their budget.” says Siri. “I want the women that buy my jeans to feel and look great without paying a fortune. Now when they buy a pair of Recession Jeans, they will also be helping children and families across America who are suffering because of the current economy.’

Celebs in Denim: Kristen Stewart in Recession Denim

Kristen Stewart has been busy promoting New Moon, but that doesn’t stop her from being stylish and wallet-friendly. She was seen on quite a few press stops wearing a pair of Recession Denim skinny jeans. They certainly are recession friendly with a price tag of $86 and they’re available at Bloomingdales and other boutiques nationwide.
New Brand & DenimBlog Eclusive Interview: RECESSION DENIM

DenimBlog was lucky enough to get an interview with Daniella the president and founder of the new brand RECESSION DENIM. Keep reading!
DenimBlog: What inspired you the most when creating your brand?
The economy and my girlfriends who were foregoing well tailored, great fitting jeans for lesser quality, inexpensive jeans. Everyone wanted to splurge more on the accessories, blouse and leather jackets. So I figured why not create quality jeans that are just as cool, comfortable and have a great fit and offer them at a reasonable price.
DenimBlog: What has been your favorite memory/experience since RECESSION DENIM was founded?
Printing colored back tag labels onto FABRIC through an HP printer while I was living in Geneva, Switzerland because I did not have access to anything related to garment construction as Geneva is a town run by banks not artists nor fashion designers. I was living there at one point during the development process of the line.
DenimBlog: Do you have a favorite cut you have designed?
Yes, the gypsy collection. It is super lightweight denim dresses, skirts and baggy pants. Not boyfriend, but baggy.
DenimBlog: How many pairs of jeans do you own?
Many
DenimBlog: What cut has been the most popular overall?
Not sure, so far we are selling FALL collection, which is basics and emphasize classic, clean cut jeans that have great fit and are super comfortable. All have been selling well. However, the 2nd and 3rd collections will be a lot more detailed and diverse. We develop jeans with everyone in mind, so I think each pair will speak to someone… I will keep you posted though
DenimBlog: Are there any new trends coming out next season that we should be keeping an eye out for?
Yes, yes. The Gypsy is cool. The Motorcycle jeans are cool. Ummmm, our Horse Back + Boogie Night jean are neat, completely off the beaten path.
LOOK BOOK: Recession Denim Fall 09

Here is the Fall 09 Look Book for Recession Denim and a little bit about the brand.
New York, NY— June 2009 — Amidst the economic chaos, in September of 2008 creator/entrepreneur Daniella Siri, 25, set out to establish a premium-quality denim brand that offered irresistibly trendy, yet classic denim without the premium price tag. Thus Recession Denim was born.
Recession Denim is made with the mindset, “we’re in a recession thus the only jeans we need are the ones that always look great and will last a lifetime,” says Daniella.
Although the economic recession lingers, each pair of Recession Denim is made to outlast the hard times, so that you look good no matter what. Piece by piece, with quality, comfort + love, the Recession Brand team strives to help rebuild a strong + prosperous new world, one full of peace + tranquility.
In June 2009 Jaslene Gonzalez winner of America’s Next Model became the new spokes model for the Recession Denim 2009 campaign. Jaslene embodies all things that Recession Denim stands for.
