Nadel & Pen Custom Tailored Denim

10.26.2011 Posted in Denim Brands by Lorna, Editor

NP materiel Nadel & Pen Custom Tailored Denim

Nadel & Pen have now launched a completely unique service, custom tailored denim. Their jeans are 100% hand sewn and custom tailored from their place in France. When they say hand made, they actually mean it, they don’t use any machines to make their jeans! They are all about their in depth fashion and denim knowledge.

There is no “range” of products to choose from, Nadel & Pen allows the “modern day dandies” to get their most unique “custom tailored denim” exclusively designed. Their job as designers with a strong “haute couture” & “denim” insight, is to make sure, that their exclusive customer gets the most unique fabrications, and a single & personal object you won’t get anywhere else. They use a selection of rare denim fabrications and trimmings for example; solid silver and hand engraved items.

There are some pictures in the gallery below from the brand and the jeans featured are a very special Japanese rare “red selvage denim” with some hand sewn details which are impossible to achieve with a machine, a bit of a savage silk “doupion” and a custom made solid silver Shank and Corn buttons. You can get a pair of their jeans by appointment only and you can find out more on their website by clicking here.

Monsieur-T Design Agency

03.11.2010 Posted in Fashion Questions by Jonathan

Monsieur T 1 e1268190736544 Monsieur T Design Agency

Ever wonder the thought process behind the making of a pair of jeans? Monsieur-T, the design company behind the production of Nadel&Pen and more, has given their insight on how those brands are produced.

Mosieur-T is a South West France based design company that work for brands and trend-offices in the United Kingdom, California, and of course France. Tilmann Wröbel and Lucie Germser, the heads behind the design company, along with their team has helped many brands inject their DNA and get their products out to the public. With a background in both streetwear and couture from brands like Etnies to Christian Dior; Tilmann Wröbel has fused the aesthetic of both to help many brands push the envelope when it comes to design. Whether it is giving their product a vintage feel or having well tailored, couture denim.

With the “team’s” education in fabrics, patterns, and wash along having a love of detail, Monsieur-T chooses the same approach as “the good old shoemaker from back in the day” rather than the “computer file + pantone” mass-market to produce the most earnest products.

With hopes to prevent what they call “fast-fashion” consumerism, which means people usually buy only to dispose without thought, leading to textile pollution. An explanation is written inside each pair of their Nadel&Pen denim to explain why and how they should be cared for. Hoping that in the future many brands will choose similar views.

New Styles from Nadel & Pen

11.24.2009 Posted in Denim Brands, New Styles by Lorna, Editor
A.ST ONE DARK USED BACK New Styles from Nadel & Pen
Nadel & Pen have brought out more new styles for their collection; ”Denim with a message”. They are writing messages on the inside of their denim pants, making people aware about the history of each pair, why people should not wash their jeans and information about the birth of treatments, zippers, hidden rivets, cinch-backs and stretch denim fabrications. They are trying to go against fast clothing, which leads people to consume and throw away their clothing without remorse. They explain why your denim needs its care, thus bringing back real value to quality clothing. Their point is to transmit the – often unknown – values of their passion!

What do you think of Nadel & Pen’s new styles? Do you like what they stand for? I do believe in everything they stand for, denim is very important.

New Denim Brands: Nadel & Pen & Exclusive Interview

10.20.2009 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jean Interviews, new brands by Lorna, Editor

Nadel & Pen is a great new brand that is just coming out of the woodwork. We caught up with the designer and founder Tilmann for an exclusive interview. Keep reading to find out more and view images.

nadeltilmannwrobel2 New Denim Brands: Nadel & Pen & Exclusive Interview

DB: What inspired you the most when creating your brand?
1) The idea of bringing interesting information about denim to the retailer & consumer, information which would not be lost like a little “leaflet” which you rip off the pant.
2 ) Making my very own denim-designs.

DB: Do you have a favourite cut you have designed?
Yes, Mens “Neo-vintage fit” ( Anti-fit seat with tapered legs ), and girls neo-carotte fits ( “X” waist and full carot-hips )

DB: How many pairs of jeans do you own?
No-idea, I would say I wear between 20 & 30 different denim pants.

DB: What is your latest collection about?
Stiff “Deadstock” type unwashed Denims & “Vintage shadow” handfinishes styles + the stories written inside !

DB: Are there any new trends coming out next season that we should be keeping an eye out for?
After all these “grinding + bruised repair jeans” trends, I feel there is a strong comeback to “stiff & raw finishes”, the pant you need first to “wear-in”….

DB: The boyfriend jeans trend has been a huge hit this season, will we be seeing anymore of this trend from you?
My design-office “customers” are “playing it” again and again, but I concentrated on Straights, Jeggings and Carots for my own Brand.

DB: What is the best feature of Nadel & Pen (fit, wash, pockets etc)?
Sure we try our best to make a modern “minimalist denimdesign” , but the true innovation is on the inside: Each time you turn your pant “inside-out” to wash it, you can read in bold letters why you should not wash a nice
denim…

DB: We all love denim, but what is it that makes denim so important to you?
It reflects your personality… due to it’s unique pigments, its pretty much the only garment which starts reflecting your lifestyle after a few month…. plus all the history, the “handcrafted” details…..and the fact that you’ve got to go to the laundry and work it out…

DB: What are your denim predictions for next season?
Kill the Glamour… Go for humble and honest products !

DB: Can you tell us a bit more about your brand?
With my “Haute Couture” background and my passion for casual products with a cool design… I felt there is a place for a brand that will “sew cool products” ( Nadel ) & “write interesting stories about the products” ( Pen )
Thats why we started this range: Let retailers and consumers know about who invented the Zip, the stretch, why we do stonewashes and what does “stonewash” actually mean….
If you are in passion with products and Fashion, then you learn so many stories you would like to share with the people who will actually wear your designs…

DB: What makes your brand so different from the others out there?
Real “upmarket” European denim at an affordable price, and which enables you to learn and understand a bit about this fabulous “denim-world”.

DB: Why did you decide to create your brand?
My “brand-concept” was ready and I was waiting for the right moment since quite a long time ( 20 years of experience as a Designer…), a few months ago I was invited by a Paris-Fashiontradeshow jury to “start my own brand”, it
is part of a “Designer / Manufacturer / Tradeshow” jointventure….and here we go! The tradeshow is this end of October !

DB: Lastly is there anything else you want to add we haven’t asked?
Well yes, if there is some “Rockefeller” out there wanting to invest into the brand…raise your hands !
