Is Women’s Clothing Not Just for Women Anymore?

Women, for many years, have worn men’s clothing. So is it time for the men to start raiding the section of the other sex? More frequently I have been reading and noticing more men being less shy of wearing women’s clothes. For example Kanye West, he famously wore a Celine shirt from the Spring 2011 collection. Before that he wore a shirt from Phillip Lim’s women’s collection to attend his show. Then there is DJ Cassidy who recently opened up about being fond over the women’s accessories section at Intermix. As the saying goes “If the shoe fits, wear it.” So how many of you guys are going to stop limiting yourselves to what you like?

Kanye West in Balmain Homme

Kanye West recently performed at the 2011 Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month. Being Kanye, his stage outfit definitely stood out. He wore a red leather jacket with some red Balmain jeans and some red sneakers. Most likely the whole look is Balmain minus the shoes.

I like that Balmain has changed the look of their motorcycle jeans. They don’t have the pleating anymore at the thigh. They are kept smooth now. I think that gives them a cleaner look. You can click here to purchase Balmain Homme at Mr. Porter.

Kanye West in Levi’s

I seriously died when I saw these jeans. They are one of the most amazing pairs that I have seen on anyone and I’m not surprised that it was Kanye to wear them. He just has one of the best styles in the business. These jeans would probably have to be my favorite piece of clothing that he has ever owned.

He wore a pair of custom Levi’s 514s as he was caught leaving the Spring 2012 Christopher Kane show during London Fashion Week in London, England. I had a gut feeling that these were custom-made for him, by looking at the detail on them. I just had a bit of a hope that they weren’t. It looks like Kanye made them slimmer and bleached them a bit. I think these should really be reproduced. I would snatch them up in a flash. Nothing beats a pair of light washed distressed jeans.

Kanye West in Double Denim

Kanye West was on stage alongside Katy Perry (in Atelier Versace) to accept their award at the MTV Video Music Awards for the song E.T. Kanye wore his favorite Levi’s jeans with the ombre denim shirt that looks like it can be from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Men’s 2012 Spring collection, but I am not too sure.

I think the washes of denim work really well together. That shirt is so amazing. I love the way the classic denim shirt gets reinvented each season. It looks fresh, yet it still has the vintage aesthetic that a denim shirt will never lose.
