This week I chose a pair of the Genetic Shya Skinny jeans in Solaris for my Weekend Going Out Look. They are a classic blue skinny that is versatile for any occasion, so I opted for something that was casual and had a boho vibe.
I feel nothing goes better with blue than another shade of blue. Whether it be a denim shirt or a bed jacket like this one here by Zara, you cannot go wrong when pairing them together. As the jacket is printed, I didn’t want a shirt that was busy. This slouchy gray tank by Kain is just perfect to keep the boho vibe going. I chose this Zara braided belt because I just love the look of braided belts. They work with every casual look perfectly. I then finished it off with some Chloe ankle boots to help toughen up the free spirit vibe a bit, but it doesn’t feel heavy because of the color. So how many of you are looking forward to trying a look like this for the upcoming weekend?
Genetic (formally known as Genetic Denim) has relaunched their website and also brought out a brand new campaign called the ‘Be You’ Project. You can watch the very first video above and there will also be more to follow. You can see the newly designed site by clicking here and you can read some more information about the campaign below.
Since the brand’s conception, Genetic has set out to define itself as a state of mind, being and lifestyle, rather than just another clothing brand. Genetic’s vision adheres to a person’s genetic dna that helps shape and define the message to believe in oneself. With this in mind, the ideation and creation of the ‘Be You’ video project took place…
Over the past few months Genetic has been on a journey to discover innovative, compelling and passionate women that embody self-discovery, self-awareness and self-acceptance. Through this video project Genetic hopes to give viewers an in-depth look into these fearless women and their daily lives, highlighting the various things/places/experiences/talents that are unique to them, and make up their “DNA”.
Over the years, Genetic has found that inspiration comes most from people that we encounter in our daily lives.
For the first ‘Be You’ video, Genetic has teamed up with artist and photographer, Tasya Van Ree, drawn to her because of her talent, vulnerability, and raw beauty. Through the video, Tasya gives viewers an honest look into her life and what makes her who she is.
The “Be You” video project will be an ongoing project carried out each season, showcasing several new talents from different backgrounds and all different walks of life with the same consistent message, to ‘Be You’.
Behati Prinsloo enjoyed a walk with a friend around the Soho area of New York a couple of weeks ago while wearing double denim.
Behati chose to wear a customized Levi’s denim jacket (the same Levi’s denim jacket that Cara Delevingne wore) with a pair of Genetic Denim Tribal Print jeans and some black boots. I’m loving the amount of double denim sightings we are getting lately! The models know how to rock it!

Spring has sprung (well in California) and what better way to start it off than by styling a denim jacket. It’s been a while since I did a post on styling a denim jacket and I thought it would be a great idea to do another one. I chose the Genetic Ryder Jacket in Bone because of its not so stark wash. This makes it the perfect transitional piece to wear from Winter to Spring. Plus the leather sleeves add that little bit more to the look, but in a very subtle way.
The maxi dress and denim jacket is a classic Spring look, but I wanted to amp it up a bit more with the accessories to make it a more transitional look. Yes I paired the look here with these Rag & Bone sandals, but you can easily switch it out with some slouchy ankle boots in the Winter.
