G-Star held an event called the “G-Star Presents London Raw” that was held at the One Mayfair Church. The event was kicked off by G-star’s new face, Gemma Arterton. At the event guests were partying along each other while listening to music by Romy of The xx DJ Set.
At the Raw events, G-Star brings their DNA to life by allowing many talents show of their work. You can see the work by Beautiful Crime, who created a live urban art piece, inspired by a Corbijn image of Gemma. I love that piece. I would love to have something like that just posted on one of my walls. Guests also got to experience the unexpected by G-Star. They presented the 3301 RAW Records, RAW Rhythm Festival and RAW Gallery at these events, that also took place in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles. Check out images from the event below.
We recently caught up with the men’s designer for G-Star, Remco de Nijs. He spoke to us about the best sellers, the different fits the brand has to offer, the inspirations behind the designs and more. Please click this post to read the whole interview and see the different images of jeans from G-Star.
DB: What is it that makes G-Star so unique in comparison to other brands?
We see ourselves as product developers, or product engineers, rather than fashion designers as craftsmanship is prioritized above trend. At G-Star, we are driven by our passion for denim — the richest and truest raw material to work with, authentic in every stage of its lifecycle.
Our denim craftsmanship and strive for innovation are most recognizable in the development of 3D construction techniques. In 1996, we created our first 3D denim: the G-Star Elwood, designed by Pierre Morisset based off the pant of a passing motorcyclist. The latest step in the evolution of 3D denim design comes with the Arc Pant: a highly architectural cut that features a low-crotch and straight-hip with an asymmetric leg that ‘turns’ around the human legs, thanks to twisted seams/inseams. The G-Star Elwood and Arc Pant are major inspirations for our collection.
Gavin Rossdale was spotted out with his family for a little fun at the park in Beverly Hills, California. He was wearing a pair of G-Star jeans as he watched the kids play with wife Gwen Stefani. This seems to be Gavin’s uniform (actually, I think this is the uniform for many guys) of the white tee jeans and sneakers. You can never go wrong with that combination. If you are interested Gwen is wearing a pair of the Camo Pants from her L.A.M.B. line.
I read somewhere that Gavin isn’t too happy with the songs on the new No Doubt album. I heard that most of the songs are about Gwen’s anger towards him. I wonder if this is true. They always seem so happy when they are spotted out together. Are you excited to hear the new No Doubt album?
