The hottest denim cut for 2008 is a slim fit jean with a wider leg opening that’s no more than 16 inches in circumference. This makes it wider than a skinny or straight leg, but not quite as wide as a flare leg. This so called “new silhouette” sounds like a classic bootcut to us, and most of us have at least one pair of those. However, don’t worry and throw out your last year’s styles – they are continuing to be hot this year. Skinnies, straight legs, bootcuts and wide legs are all still fab.
From the Diesel 2008 Fashion Week show…and if these designs are an indicator, the trend seems to be more loose and flowing pieces, comfort first, and light denim is so back. What do you think of the collection?
With denim as the primary focus at the G-Star Fashion Week 2008 show, the company also showed that denim is a versatile fabric. This line was aimed at true denim aficionados who only expect the best when it comes to their favorite jeans. What do we think of their new take on the coat jacket, which goes over the head and neck above? Will this catch on?

Editor of the blog, Liane and Director of HonestForum, Dave met up in freezing New York City during Fashion Week and hit up Atrium, a really cool denim shop in Soho. We met one of the sales staff there who wore a pair of raw denim Nudies that he’s had for 5 years and only washed a few times by hand. They looked really cool, makes us want to try a pair! This is definitely a shop to check out if you are ever in Soho!
