DB: What inspired you the most when creating your brand?
I felt like no other brands were making the kind of jeans that I love and that originally sparked the denim craze anymore…
DB: I am assuming you named the brand Mother Denim because you consider it to be the Mother of all denim brands?
No – I mean we are – But mother, to me, has a feeling of power, like bad mother f****r, I want women to wear my jeans and feel that awesome.
DB: Do you have a favorite cut you have designed?
Many, the Drama flare was really fun this past season…
DB: How many pairs of jeans do you own yourself?
Many many jeans…never counted. But you should always have at least 2 favorites at all times.
DB: Can you tell us more about the designs in your collection?
I had done a long denim skirt years ago that I loved… Now with some of the denim we’ve made in collaboration with the mills in Japan, I revisited an ankle length skirt that is amazing… And our basics are amazing, I think a lot of basics have been neglected in the past few years – .ie the boyfriend – come on! Jeans are ultimately about looking sexy…
DB: What is the best feature of Mother Denim jeans (fit, wash, pockets etc)?
We worked with our favorite mills to make our own denim that feesl like cashmere, really transforming denim from a workwear material into a true luxury fabric. Our washes are full of color, moving from straight vintage to bright blues, blown out light blues and really saturated rinses… It was funny, I always thought that I was over back pocket embroideries, but ended up with a really tough mother pocket…
DB: We all love denim here at DenimBlog, but what is it that makes denim so important to you?
The flexibility of it. You can take one denim and work it in so many directions, and each one will tell a story of who the person is – it truly has a personality in that regard. Unlike a knit, for example, where it kind of is what it is…or a wool trouser?
DB: What previous experience have you both had with denim?
I was the Creative Director for 7 For All Mankind and Lela was the Director of Sales for Citizens of Humanity… so we do have a little experience…
DB: What makes the perfect fitting jeans in your experience?
Jeans that make your legs look long and your ass look great…
DB: Can you tell us a bit more about your brand?
We are really stripping down all of the peripheral elements… All of the typical jeans-y things, tea stained labels, vintage hardware… Our website doesn’t have any pictures of back pockets and thread… Our label is patent leather and that’s it. It’s really all about the jeans for us, get rid of all the junk…
DB: What makes your brand so different from the others out there?
We have the Perspective, all of our years of experience, what works and what doesn’t and making jeans that others can’t…
DB: Lastly is there anything else you would like to add that we haven’t asked you?
I’d like to mention that our brand isn’t about redoing vintage, there are washed jeans here, sure… But our mission is to make great jeans that feel fresh and exciting… new classics!
She’s looking really happy with Eric Johnson too. What do you think of their match up? It seems like a lot of female celebs have been favoring football stars in the last few years. I wonder how they all meet?

Javier Bardem and wife Penelope Cruz spend some quality time together. The two were seen going out to a movie in Hollywood. The couple is expecting their first child together later this year. I bet that is going to be one gorgeous baby!
