LOOK BOOK: Democracy of Nevermind Spring/Summer 2010

Here is a look at Democracy of Nevermind’s Spring/Summer 2010 Look Book. I also included some information on the collection itself.

Democracy of Nevermind’s (DoN for short) first collection embodies the spirit of the 60’s youth revolution with a new found freedom for expression that is tantalizing as much as it is liberating. Of course with jeans being the conscious uniform of this movement it is only befitting that DoN pays homage to this era for its first collection.

The follow-your impulse hedonism that was the lingering legacy of the ’60’s is perfectly captured in the denim as well as its woven collection. Bold prints and colors are offset by cool pastel washed denim that come in a variety of styles.

For women, sporty jumpsuits come in faded denim that is acid washed and elasticated in the middle. Mini’s come in a variety of pastel colors with zips running across the middle or the side seams.

Denim vests come in multitude of styles- cut off, a la James Dean, studded and with motorcycle zip detailing. The pastel vintage washes add an element of softness and youthful sprit. Some highlights are the ‘mirror ball’ studs that run down the sides of the jean that is reminiscent of the start of the disco era. Zips and metal ring snaps are placed in unexpected areas which adding a cheeky element of surprise.

DoN salutes America in particular with the flag print. America catapulted the youth revolution to the forefront through its music as well as pop culture. For men, the denim also exhibits a variety of vintage effects such as wear and tear and subtle rips. Wovens include oversized plaids in varying bold colors as well as the classic gingham shirt with gradation effect. Outerwear includes light ‘jock’ jackets as well as a motorcycle jacket in faded black. Vest hoodies with double zip detailing also are made in vintage black.

Various innovative washing techniques have been developed for this collection such as ‘snow washing’ and ‘rain’ washing which add subtle texture to the jean. Bleach dying also adds a fun stripe effect as if the jeans were painted on by rollers. Gradation washes come to play in array of stunning colors such as ice violet and blue.

Zoe Saldana in AG Adriano Goldschmied

Zoe Saldana did a bit of shopping at Diesel and Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, California the other day. I don’t know much about Zoe but wow she looks hot! That outfit is perfect for her. I love how she paired those gorgeous black high heels with her AG Adriano Goldschmied The Legging jeans in Camden and a leopard print scarf, the outfit really works! Buy similar jeans at AG Jeans.

Miley Cyrus in Customized Siwy Jeans again

Out on a dinner date with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in Hollywood, Miley Cyrus got snapped by the paps wearing her customized Siwy jeans again. Apparently they both entered the Katsuya restaureant at different entrances so they would not get papped together… I think now we have seen them out together all the time and holding hands, it’s safe to say they are a couple. I wonder why she wants to hide it? He’s a very hot guy, even though he’s not pictured here. I still love these jeans, Simone Harouche did a great job on them!

In other Miley related news, Hannah Montana will be filming it’s final season (season 4) due to start shooting this month. Good news though, even though the filming has ended, Disney will still air the episodes for at least a year so it’s not officially over yet all you Hannah Montana fans!

Kim Kardashian in Siwy

Fitting in a midday pampering session, Kim Kardashian was spotted dropping by Beverly Hills Nail Design in Beverly Hills, California wearing Siwy Hannah Jeans in Tempest. Looks like Kim chatted with Pussycat Dolls choreographer Robin Antin while she was there. I like her outfit, but I wish she wouldn’t cover up those beautiful jeans with those tall boots. Buy these jeans here at Singer22.

Nicole Richie in JET and Joel Madden in Dior Homme

The JET jean Queen herself, Nicole Richie, was seen out for lunch wearing JET’s Moto jeans in Grey Splat with Joel Madden who was wearing Dior Homme jeans. When i saw these jeans online my first reaction was a bit unsure, the stitching is unlike other motorcycle jeans, they look a bit like cat scratches. Nicole really wore these well though, you barely see the stitching, she makes them look good. Buy these jeans by clicking here.

LOOK BOOK: April 77 Spring/Summer 2010

Here is some information on the new April 77 Spring/Summer 2010 Look Book. You can right click the image above to read it in high res. The new collection looks pretty interesting.

Samantha Ronson in Dior Homme

Sam Ronson Finishes Holiday!

Sam Ronson enjoys the start of her single 2010 life in West Hollywood, California as she was spotted dropping off a late holiday present. She was wearing her Dior Homme jeans that she loves so much. I wonder if now that Dior Homme are releasing a women’s line she might switch to wearing those? Sam is looking very thin though lately, I hope she is eating enough.

Denim Review: 7 For All Mankind Moto Leggings in Coco

Here is one of the first denim reviews I am doing as requested by the lovely readers. I have chosen to do 7 For All Mankind’s Moto Leggings in Coco wash. They are brand new and not out until February 28th 2010 so you have to wait a while. Kim Kardashian also owns these lovely jeans. They are super stretchy, like real leggings, you could do yoga in them! They run true to size like most 7 For All Mankind jeans and are very comfy. They are definitely loads different to the normal style of their jeans, they have plain pockets and a pretty marble style wash, cute ankle zips and an elasticated waistband. I wasn’t sure on them at first as I have never really bought into the moto jeans trend but I tried them on and I absolutely love them! They are a very flattering fit and paired with a longer top like Kim and some boots you can’t go wrong. 7 For all mankind really did well designing these. I included lots of close up photos so you can see the details and the wash properly. Also the rise is 9 inches and the inseam is 30 inches for reference.

Overall Opinion
I really like these jeans, they are great for running errands and wearing as casual every day jeans. I personally wouldn’t wear them dressed up because of the wash.

Full laid down front shot of the jeans, you can see how pretty they are just lying on the floor.

Full laid down back shot of the jeans so you can see the wash clearly and how they lay.

Close up front shot, you can see the elastic in the waistband which is very stretchy and easily worn for comfort. They also have seam stitching around the front of the crotch and thighs.

Close up shot of the back, you can see the seam just below the waist band, it curves downwards which is a lot different to the regular stitching.

You can see the elasticated waistband and the stitching around the knees and legs more closely.

They have very cute ankle zippers as you can see below.

Modeled photos so you can see how they look on the thighs.

Modeled details of the seam stitching around the knee area.

Modeled side photo, you can see all of the stitching very clearly and how they sit on the legs and butt. They are very figure hugging and flattering but loads different from the normal style denim legging jeans.
