Celebs in Denim: JoJo in DKNY

Singer JoJo (Levesque) wears DKNY? Wow! It never ceases to shock me when I find celebs wearing moderately priced clothing. But denim? That doesn’t happen too often does it? I think she looks good though.

On another note, All I Want Is Everything will be her 3rd album. The album will be released in February, 2009 & will feature production from Danja, J. R. Rotem, Toby Gad and others.

Celebs in Denim: Stacy Keibler in Dylan George

Model/actress Stacy Keibler shops at Lisa Kline while wearing Dylan George. I think I will have to try these jeans soon.  Could they be the next big thing?

Celebs in Denim: Lacey Schwimmer in Laguna Beach Jean Co.

Lacey Schwimmer, from Dancing with the Stars, wears Laguna Beach Jean Co. jeans at the 1-year anniversary party for the brand. I really like those back pockets! Have you all heard of the brand? It kind of has a Rock & Republic vibe to me.

Dior Homme - Kris Van Assche vs. Hedi Slimane

As the menswear division of Christian Dior, Dior Homme has been a staple in not only fashionable men’s clothing for years now, but is also a leader in the garment industry for artistic design and styling predictions each season. Marked by the house’s many favorite trademarks, such as the pleat and the traditional European slim cut that has made Dior Homme famous, the French Fashion House has gone from being revolutionized by Hedi Slimane beginning in 2001 to now being crafted with a fresh twist from young designer Kris Van Assche.

If you’re a Dior Homme die hard, or ever if you are only just becoming a fan, and you haven’t yet traveled into our HonestForum to read the thread that is solely dedicated the brand’s denim wear, I highly recommend—it’s a must. The sizing, the styling and all authenticity questions are addressed there daily…and in depth. Check it out here.

Since 2008, Kris Van Assche has been turning the tables away from Hedi Slimane famed (and much loved) runway march, leaving, what some called, humility, in the dust of Dior Homme’s line. Although the denim of the line still keeps with Dior’s iconic back pocket scar mark, as well as the cotton’s gauge in most cases, there were new splashes of wax, wash and burns—treatments—to be seen.  Here are some of the styles (both classic and new) that you may be lusting after, from Van Assche, available in the USA at eLuxury -  prices ranging from $455 to $620.

And how do you wear your Dior Homme denim? Do you lean toward that Slimane aesthetic…tapping into that tough, rock look? A Tee, a combat boot, a simple belt? Or, are you looking into the future? Van Assche’s Spring/Summer 2009 show tells us that the new Dior Homme expects brighter things (literally!) Personally, I’m not so sure about the gold tones…but, I could get used to seeing something other than black and white. What’s your take? Do you like the change from Slimane to Van Assche? Some people aren’t so sure…here’s an abbreviated peak at the show:

The Sartorialist Talks Denim

I adore fashion. One of the places on the web I adore is the sartorialist. Recently he talked denim. Here’s what he says.

Reconsidering Jeans

I have finally found a jean that fits and looks good on me…the APC New Cure. The New Cure has a great slim leg and doesn’t sit too high or low on the waist. Of course my cleaning lady washed my “unwashed” hard denim jeans recently which I thought would ruin them, but actually it just gave me a new “rinse” and a great reason to buy a new pair to replace the old ones!

However, just as I got a handle on the slim leg jean I have started seeing guys doing a slightly fuller leg jean again - and looking cool doing it.

I think this picture I took last winter is looking more and more interesting now.

Also, yesterday I was at a Japanese bookstore and finally bought a copy of Free & Easy. A great denim magazine that all the denim and casual wear designers I know swear by for design inspiration.

Celebs in Denim: Jason Mraz in Diesel

Singer Jason Mraz attended the A Thousand Thing gallery exhibition opening and book signing at the Charles Cowles Gallery recently.  He wore a pair of Diesel Viker 8JM.  Thanks to HonestForum member Blue for IDing them.

Zafu.com for the Perfect Fit Jean?

So I took the Zafu.com denim fit test today.

Here’s the lowdown: take a 3-Minute test based on how jeans (or bras or pants, including plus size) have fit you in the past, answer a few questions on what your ideal jean would look like on your body and describe your own shape…then, VOILA! The perfect fit! Does it work? It could. Let me know if you’ve purchased or worn their recommendations for you!

The site works well–offering results in many styles and price points, based on an individual woman’s body type. Given that we live in a world where beauty is all about being an individual, I liked the idea of customizing a jean to fit your needs and then collaborating it with the current trends.

Most of Zafu.com’s recommendations for jeans for my body were jeans that I’d never worn.  But I’m definitely willing to give it a try.  If you are one of the many women out there who are constantly struggling to find that perfect jean, Zafu.com may be for you.

Here were my recommendations for a long, lean, yet perky look on the bottom…and here’s who is wearing it now:

(1) GOLDSIGN:

Goldsign High Waisted Jeans, as recently seen on Jessica Alba & Kelly Brook.  They definitely look long and lean…I love this look!

You can purchase the “Luna” Trouser, a similar style from Goldsign, available at 6pm.com

(2) TRUE RELIGION BOBBY:

Are you tired of these yet?  I’m not.  Certainly not if they make my butt look like Miss Simpson’s!

You can get ‘em at Revolve in a variety of washes or if you look hard, probably from one of the many eBay sellers recommended here (see our right hand sidebar for a list!)

P.S.   Log on to www.Zafu.com yourself and tell us what your perfect jean is and if you think their recommendations are right for you.

Kelly Cutrone & People’s Revolution Reality Show Coming Soon

Kelly Cutrone in Skinny Jeans

Kelly Cutrone in Skinny Jeans

It has been talked about for months now…ever since PR woman about town Kelly Cutrone made her debut on The Hills:  This tough as nails single mom and company, People’s Revolution, would definitely get their own–all the while escewing from the spotlight that LC/Whitney junk for the real stuff of fashion.

What we know: Magical Elves, Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, the production team behind Project Runway’s success will produce the show, exposing Cutrone’s hectic world of PR, branding, production and sales, including her many clients, like designer, Sass & Bide.

What we don’t know: Will people actually like Cutrone in this new show?  And where will it be aired?  Rumors hint at NBC. Hmmm…might Audrina Patridge hit Kelly up for a spot on Divine Rights of Denim?

What do you think?  Will Kelly Cutrone’s reality show make your TiVo list next year?  Or will it be a flop without Speidi?
