Well, if you haven’t seen the episode yet and have it on your DVR and don’t want a spoiler, then do not click this link! But if you want to know…

…the winner is WHITNEY THOMPSON, the 20 year old student from Florida. Whitney was also considered the “plus-sized model” on Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model. I had a feeling it might be a plus-sized model this time who won - especially after Tyra herself has taken a lot of heat in the media for putting on a little weight since her retirement from modeling. Whitney is beautiful and will likely be a great commercial model but I think ANTM also wanted to prove a point, that you don’t have to be a size zero to model, or be a role-model for young women. And she looked amazing in her Versace pink dress in the season finale - did she not?
Do you think this is moving in the right direction in the fashion industry? I thought this might make for an interesting discussion as we’ve talked about how denim companies like Paige Premium Denim are now offering their jeans in larger sizes for plus-sized women (not that I think Whitney’s Size 10 dress size is truly “plus-sized”) and that designer fashion should not just be made for women sized 0 to 12.
What do you think about ANTM embracing a plus-sized (in the fashion industry) model as the winner?

Anya - and she should have won.
