Ombre or dip dye denim shirts have to be one of my favourite trends of the moment. I think they are so fun and they are a much more inventive and bold take on the classic denim shirt.
I saw this one (above) at River Island in the men’s department about 3 weeks ago and I thought it was beautiful. It doesn’t bother me at all that it’s not a women’s shirt, I don’t really mind what sex my clothes are made for as long as they look and fit me good, it’s fine. I think this one is probably one of the best ones I have seen though. I love the fact that the blue is so intense and bright, it’s definitely more fun and I can tell I am going to be wearing it for a long time. It also comes in a darker blue, more purple, combination, which I think is more classic, but not as fun.
Kate Bosworth was recently spotted in an ombre denim shirt too. Hers was a more paler version (images 4, 5 and 6) and she paired it with a pair of jeans. I sort of like the fact that her shirt (which I think is 7 For All Mankind’s shirt in image 9) has a bleached look on the bottom. Like it was just dipped in bleach and left to spread. I think it’s more versatile and classic than the one I own, but as you know I am more about fun and bold colours really.
Andy from Style Scrapbook did an amazing version of an ombre denim shirt herself. Her DIY is gallery images 7 and 8 and you can see she only dip dyed the sleeves, which I think is a very interesting take on the trend. I love it! You can see her full post here. It definitely makes me want to try doing a DIY myself actually.
So what is your take on the ombre denim shirts trend? Do you like it? My River Island shirt is available for purchase here and the 7 For All Mankind shirt is available to buy here.

Kate Bosworth was spotted at the Screen Actors Guild building in Beverly Hills, California. I wonder if she went to get a new photo for her Actors ID Card? She wore a double denim look for the meeting. She paired an ombre denim shirt with some denim leggings and some Vanessa Bruno boots.
I’ve been waiting to see someone wear an ombre denim shirt. I thought the detail was amazing after seeing it in the men’s Phillip Lim collection. Leave it to Kate though to try something new. She is one that is not scared to try out something new.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was spotted catching a flight back into the states late last month in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She wore a pair of faded black Sass and Bide jeans with a pair of black Isabel Marant Betty Sneakers. I like that she chose the Betty pair. They are my favorite that Isabel Marant has designed, especially the tan pair that Kate Bosworth has worn many times.
I really like that Rosie joined the sneaker trend. I was sure that she would wear these and wear them well. These jeans also fit her really great. It is nice to see her in a looser skinny style. You can click here to purchase these jeans at YOOX for $198.
I now see what Olivier Rousteing is talking about when he said he was taking Balmain back to its couture days. The clothing now looks in harmony with the price range. I do miss all the rips, tears and endless amounts of denim, but couture is the soul of the brand so that is where it should be.
The 2012 Pre-Fall collection had tons of prints, color and of course the classic glitz. There was also no shortage of leather. I think the collection is really great. There are quite a few pieces that I find amazing. The leather pants above are just everything. Trouser pockets, check. Leather, check. Inseam-zipper and motorcycle stitching, double check. My other favorites would have to be the printed pajama pants, all the jackets, and the black long-sleeve dress. I love the graphic at the waist. I would love to see that dress on Zoe Saldana or Kate Bosworth. You can see the full collection below.
