Last night’s Project Runway episode featured a challenge involving denim! The designers were presented with more than 500 pairs of Levi’s 501 jeans in a variety of sizes and colors, and one-yard bolts of white cotton. The challenge: To create an iconic denim look of their choice that captures the spirit of originality and creativity of the 501 legacy. The winning look will be sold as a limited edition on the Levis.com. How cool is that for an aspiring designer? Designer Ricky was the winner (photo above of his creation) and below are some of the looks the other designers came up with.

We love Ebay. We buy everything from razors (hey, the five-blades ones are expensive) to lots of jeans and more. Yes, there are a lot of fakes on Ebay, but if you follow the advice on HonestForum – its easy to find authentic denim on Ebay for discounted prices if you stick with reputable sellers. One tool that we absolutely love is Auction Sniper. It’s a great tool (and you get 3 free snipes when you sign up) that bids for you at the last few seconds of an auction, thereby greatly increasing your chances of winning the auction. We set ours at 3 seconds and have won lots of great stuff using this tool! Just thought we’d pass on the tip!
If you haven’t signed up for the Gilt Groupe yet, you need to! You have to be a member to shop these sample sales. Starting January 9th at 12pm, they are featuring Earnest Sewn jeans. Your best bet is to get online early because the most popular sizes and styles will go fast! More about Earnest Sewn…
Earnest Sewn Making Waves in the World of Denim
Arguably the best American denim line produced today, Earnest Sewn was launched by Scott Morrison (former co-founder and designer of Paper, Denim & Cloth), who today serves as the Founder, Creative Director and Head Designer. Morrison founded Earnest Sewn in response to the assembly line production dominating the denim market at that time. Morrison and his team revolutionized the world of denim by adopting the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese design principle that translates as the ‘product sewn in earnest.’ Adherence to the Wabi-Sabi philosophy ensures that every pair of Earnest Sewn jeans is a unique—a priceless commodity and a “limited edition”. In fact Morrison literally signs off on each and every jean produced by Earnest Sewn (but you might need to search for it).
In fact we heard that fashionistas are scouring the globe for Earnest Sewn. It’s no wonder that these are the “go to jean” for Heidi Klum, Courtney Cox, Mischa Barton and, now through Gilt Groupe, YOU!
