This is exciting! Story from Racked.com:
True Religion is gearing up for an all-out Manhattan invasion. The premium denim company, with their trademark horseshoe-bedecked back pockets, is bombing the city with three new stores, all opening within the next two months.
First will come their Upper East Side boutique, at 1122 Third Avenue between 65th and 66th Streets, which should throw open its doors next week. In June, the brand will land in the Time Warner Center. And then in July, just when you think it’s safe to come out from hiding, Union Square will get their own denim hub at 863 Broadway and 17th Street. Brooklyn, you’re safe…for now.”
Oooooh…New Yorkers, get ready! You lucky shoppers you! I hope these stores do well and they eventually start branching out to other parts of the country!

Lots of new stuff over at True Religion’s Online Store. Among the top picks:
Women’s - The Rachel in Body Rinse and the Joey in Medium Lovestruck

Men’s - The Ricky in Body Rinse and The Billy Big T in Medium Prankster

Can you tell I love the Body Rinse wash? A nice dark wash is always so classic! And they have a cropped Kate jean for summer in the Body Rinse wash too! What do you like of the new stuff?

No, Diesel is not just about denim! What do we think of the new Diesel Scuba League Attack Beachwear collection for men and women? The women’s stuff is hot - not sure what I think about those shorter boardshorts on guys though… Pretty affordable too compared to True Religion’s swimwear line which is approximately $90 for a bikini top and $90 for the bottoms…Diesel’s bikini is $69 for the whole darn thing! Sweet!

What do you think about True Religion’s new line of shoes and boots? I like a few pairs of the high heeled boots, and the Bikey flat boots, but the rest are pretty horrid. The tennis shoes look like Hypercolor T-shirts from the 1980’s and the last two pairs of boots look like men’s boots to me!

Distressed denim was featured in the latest issue of Elle magazine. I love distressed denim but sometimes it can go too far. For example, Destroyed Brand takes distressing to an extreme. I don’t care that Britney Spears wore a pair in her music video - they are just too much!

A few notches down on the distressed scale are True Religion’s Bobby jeans in Death Valley Medium and their Joey jean in Mo-Fo. Still distressed but not too crazy.

If you want a bit more distressing in a pair of True Religions, check out the Joey jean in Destroyed - definitely more rock n’ roll but not hideous like the Destroyed Brand jeans.

The most wearable version of the trend, and my favorite is 7 For All Mankind’s Flare jean in Havana 2 wash - a little distressing here and there, pulled out stitches and a cut out tag on the back pockets. The Havana 2’s have just the right amount of distressing to be cool, but not so much that it looks like you attacked your jeans with a pair of scissors!

What do you think of this trend? Would you go for the super destroyed look or the more subtly distressed look?

Chris Daughtry of Daughtry (2nd L), singers Apl.de.ap (L) and Will.i.am (2nd R) of the Black Eyed Peas and singer Ed Kowalczyk of Live attend a live acoustic set at The Beatles Revolution Lounge at The Mirage Hotel and Casino Resort on April 13, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The concert for just 200 guests raised $20,000, with all proceeds going to the ONE Campaign to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. Chris Daughtry and Ed Kowalczyk are both wearing True Religion jeans.

What do you think of True Religion’s new line of handbags? Would you buy one, or opt for something more classic like a Louis Vuitton or Gucci for the same price? Personally I cannot see paying $700+ for a True Religion bag and would buy something classic.
