A denim jacket is an essential for summer and the bomber jacket is a great take on the classic, so I chose this Diesel denim bomber to style my weekend going out look around. Since the bomber jacket has a more masculine feel, I chose this bold stripe Karen Millen skirt, since I love how the bomber contrasts the structure of the skirt. I added a pair of Stan Smith sneakers to play off the sportier vibe of the jacket as well. Lastly, I finished with these gold Linda Farrow glasses and this navy straw tote from Sensi Studio, which I think would make this a great look for the farmer’s market or running errands.
I adore denim skirts at the moment and have done since the trend fully took off this year. I used to wear them when I was younger, but as I grew up, those short denim skirts just weren’t for me anymore. However, so many denim brands have now released such modern takes on denim skirts that there’s a style to suit everyone. From the classic 90’s vibe, to pencil skirts, skater skits and more. With their new modern twist, you definitely wont feel dated or out of place! I’ve put together 5 different looks styled around 5 different denim skirts and each one suits a different genre of fashion! Which do you like?
The Boho Vibe
This is the style that I always associate with Alexa Chung, Alessandra Ambrosio and Vanessa Hudgens. Those ladies really know how to work their fringe and denim, making it look stylish. This denim skirt is of course the one that Alexa Chung designed for her AG Jeans collaboration, so it’s fitting. You really can’t go wrong by pairing this style with fringe, tan and flowy pieces! Given its versatility though, it can definitely be worn other ways if this isn’t for you.
The Chopper has to be one of my favorite styles that James Jeans has ever released. There is a model off duty sense to them that I find so appealing and perfect for the new season. So that was the aesthetic that I went for when styling the Destroyed Indigo wash. See how I styled them below.
For this look here, I went for the model off duty era when Daria Werbowy and Gemma Ward took over the runways. The way they smartened up their destroyed denim is something that I have always been a fan of. I paired them with a Rag & Bone muscle shirt to layer under a Stella McCartney blazer to add to the tomboy feel. I then went for a pair of Toga Pulla boots to also help bring on the vibe, but also tie in the feminine touch of the Dannijo necklace. The necklace adds a nice flare, I find, without taking too much away from the vibe of the overall look.
Grunge is always a look that models go for, when they are roaming the streets for those street style photographers and Binx Walton is one that inspired this one here. There is a way to her personal style that I find cool with the way she carries herself. I paired the shorts with a t shirt from FRAME to add to the comfortable feel of the look. Then to carry that over, a cardigan by Equipment and a pair of Chucks. Then to finish it all off, a bracelet by Miansai just to add that little bit more to the look.
For this look here, I wanted to make it completely feminine. Something that you can definitely see Leandra Medine of ManRepeller wearing herself. I went for a Tibi top to pair with the shorts to contrast against the masculinity of them. To carry that mix of masculine and feminine further, a pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim mules and a set of bracelets from Spinelli Kilcollin. As I see this look as something of more of a statement, a clutch by Saint Laurent is the perfect bag to finish it all off.
– How many of you are rethinking the idea of these shorts?
The TRANSCEND jeans by Paige have become one of my favorite styles ever, so styling them this week was an easy choice for me. I chose their Hoxton in Black Shadow to work around because there is a unisex feel to the cut of them and I thought they would look great for doing a look for the men.
I paired the jeans with a sweater from Etudes. I like the simplicity of the graphic and wanted something that had the clean feel of a solid piece, while still adding some interest. I then chose a t shirt from Zanerobe to layer under for its length, as I find it works well with the feel that the sweater gives off.
I wanted to go for a shoe that was simple and clean, but didn’t want to go for the usual court sneakers that we have been seeing around so much lately. I went for the Puma Basket Suedes as they are a classic sneaker that adds a touch of smartness to the look, yet still have a casual sense to them. Then to finish it all off, a hat. I always feel like a look is never complete without a hat. I chose this one by Goorin Bros for its wide brim. There is a unique feel that a wide brimmed hat adds that I just find amazing no matter what you wear it with. How many of you have a pair of the TRANSCEND jeans from Paige and are pulling them out for the weekend?
