Another incarnation of the TEXTILE Elizabeth and James Cooper jeans has been born. This time in black and white stripes for fall. I just cannot get tired of them because they fit so well and the details are bold without feeling overwhelmed. Since they are one of my favorites and I styled just about every other version of them, why not add a new one to the mix? See all of the looks I came up with below.
I wanted to do one look that was fun by mixing prints. When done right, I think, leopard and stripes do work together very well. The key in my opinion for mixing these prints together is by keeping one or the other subtle or classic. I decided to go subtle and go with a burgundy leopard printed shirt from Burberry. As the combination of these two prints together can feel very punk, I wanted to play up that theme a bit more. Balenciaga also has a new take on their Cienture boots that I thought would bring in the punk vibe some more. I then finished it off with a studded belt from Burberry and backpack from Saint Laurent.
Since summer is almost over, for this week’s look I wanted to style something that had a great laid back summer vibe. I chose to style my look around this Rag & Bone washed denim shirt, since I love the light blue wash for the warmer weather and the light weight is perfect for hot nights.
I chose these Rebecca Taylor silk shorts because I love how the orange is so bold against the shirt. The silk fabric also dresses the shirt up a bit, which makes them perfect for a night out. For shoes, I chose the gold Charlotte Olympia lace sandals. I love the intricate details of the lace pattern and I think they add a nice touch to the outfit.
Because the shoes are so bold, I wanted to keep the rest of the accessories on the minimal side. I chose this long gold fringe necklace from Alexis Bittar because I think it complements the shoes nicely and I chose this cork clutch from Georgina Skalidi because I think the cork is really summery and adds nice texture. I then finished with these Victoria Beckham sunglasses.
For this weeks weekend going out look, I wanted to style something playful and casual which would be perfect for a day at the park or beach. During the summer, I prefer activity days out like that more so than going out in the evening, which is why I wanted to create something easy. I chose these Warehouse Shorts Denim Dungarees as dungarees/overalls are a huge trend at the moment, as you know. I think the shorts versions can look cute and not too frumpy. I chose to pair them with a Topshop KaPow Print Bandeau as I think dungarees look best worn with cropped tops, to keep them from looking too 90′s.
As the top is orange, I went down the orange and gold route to contrast the blue of the denim. I chose these ASOS Format Sandals as they are the perfect colour combination for the look! I then added a hippy vibe with an Avant Garde Paris Star Arm Cuff and chose two bracelets for the wrist, a Shoebox By The Horn Bracelet and a Blond Accessories Tracy Bracelet. I think the gold jewellery on the arms will really add a touch of glamour to this outfit. To finish it off, and of course keep with the colour palette, I went with the Ray-Ban Orange Aviators. So, have any of you worn a look like this?
For this weeks “Going Out” look, I chose the Big Star Avalon High Rise Skinny in Halcyon. There is something about acid/bleach washed jeans at the moment that I am just loving. It may be the thrill of the search for something out of the usual clean blues and prints.
This pair here is one of my favorites that has come out over the years. They don’t feel dated and are easy to style for a day look or for going out as they work just as well with neutrals as they do with vibrant colors, like a red. I went the neutral route and styled them with a vintage Chanel jacket, a tank by Ksubi, sandals by Saint Laurent and finished it with a necklace by Isabel Marant. So how many of you are looking forward to trying out acid washed jeans again?
