For my weekend going out look, I was sort of inspired by the popular way of wearing double denim during the Fall: with coats and sweaters. I chose these classic Frame Denim Le Skinny de Jeanne and paired them with an Only Denim Shirt. I then layered on this amazing Burberry Prorsum Sweater and finished it with this MSGM Wool Coat. I think double denim and camel/beige tones is a perfect combination! For the footwear, I chose these Chelsea Crew Boots as they have a great Fall look about them, then finished the accessories with this Monsoon Satchel. This is definitely something I would wear!
The Nemesis wash by J Brand has to be one of my new favorites by the brand. Not only is it a dark grey wash that is very versatile, but they are also distressed. Those two things would have to be my favorite things right now. As these are a Summer style, I decided to do looks that will carry over from the warmer season to when the chill kicks in even harder. See the three looks that I came up with below.
This is the look that I would say works best during this time, at still the beginning of the Fall season. Just simple layers like pairing this flannel by MOTHER and a t shirt by R13 is all you need for a simple day-to-day look. Then to finish the look off Autumn staples like this Rick Owens beanie and some moccasins by Isabel Marant to keep the look feeling cooler from the usual.
This look here is one that is when it is starting to get colder, but there is still enough warmth to get away with wearing few layers. I paired the jeans with a graphic t shirt by TOPSHOP because I just love how much of a different vibe it offers to a look than a basic one. I then chose a heavy knit cardigan by River Island for it’s old timey feel. It has the look as though it was found in the closet of a grandpa, that I find appealing and always look for in sweaters like these. To keep the comfort going, I went for some Nike sneakers and a Rag & Bone hat to finish it all off and add a chic sense.
This look here is the one that would carry you on to the Winter. I just love the look of a fur coat and how it just elevates any outfit to another level. I chose this faux fur piece by Diesel because it has the oversized lengthy fit that I think fur pieces should have. I went for this hoodie by R13 to be layered underneath for the added warmth and as I think sneakers would be appropriate around this time, a pair of Chuck Taylors were the perfect choice. I then went for a pair of sunglasses by Ray-Ban to help protect the eyes from the blistering winds.
For my weekend going out look, I chose these Junya Wantanabe patchwork jeans. I love all of the different textures of the patches and think that they’re a really fresh take on the patchwork trend.
I styled them with this blouse from Alexander McQueen because I love the contrast of the lady like tie against the patchwork on the jeans. I also chose these Alexander Wang pointed boots for the same reason, they add a nice polish against all of the different textures. I added this sleek Proenza Schouler cross body bag and a little bit of color and texture from these Kenneth Jay Lane tassel earrings.
You recently saw Chanelle’s post on how to layer denim for Autumn in LA, but since I live across the pond in England, I thought it was a good idea to show you how layering can be so different over here, since the temperatures are opposite ends of the spectrum. For me, Autumn has three different sections to it, each ranging in massively different weather.
The beginning is often quite warm, it’s mild enough for a light sweater and a vest, paired with some skinny jeans and boots, then come mid Autumn, you want to be layering a little more on like a t-shirt under a thicker sweater and a scarf, maybe throw a denim jacket over the top, this works great with your skinny jeans and boots and then when the end of Autumn hits, you need to start wearing a t-shirt, sweater, cardigan or vest over that and then throw a coat on top, paired with your skinny jeans and boots.
In just a short space of time, the weather can go from bearable to unbearable in moments and of course, you have the fun of the rain to deal with as well so make sure you are always packing an umbrella wherever you go! Rather than make up multiple different outfit collages like I usually do, I thought what better way to show you how to layer your denim over here in England than using a compilation of my own photos from the past few Autumn seasons! I’ve split them into the sections of Autumn and I’ve also included a collage at the bottom of the post outlining the essentials you will need! Read More >
