For my weekend going out look, I chose these velvet Current/Elliott Low Rise skinny jeans in this bright blue. I love velvet and think that it is such a luxurious fabric and is perfect for the winter. I was also really drawn to the bright blue color and I think the velvet makes it pop even more.
I chose this Sass & Bide blouse because I wanted to add a bit more color to the outfit with the pink, while the embellished neckline is a fun replacement for a necklace. I accessorized with these Tom Binns Pyramid stud earrings, Charlotte Olympia Dolly Pumps and this Alexander Wang Marion Bag. Because of the embellished neckline, I wanted to keep the rest of the jewelry minimal and I thought the Tom Binns earrings still stood out, but didn’t distract from the rest of the outfit. I chose a black purse and pumps with gold accents because I thought they tied in nicely with the black on the blouse, and the gold accents the blue color of the pants really well.
I was asked by one of our lovely readers to do a post on styling white jeans for the winter. I find white skinny jeans to be really versatile for the colder months because the colour is a great base for neutral looks. If you pair white jeans with bright colours or florals, it usually screams spring/summer which isn’t what you want at this time of year, so pairing them with grey, camel, browns and black really makes a great winter look! I have created three outfits here, each in very different styles and colours.
The above outfit is using layers to keep you warm, but I kept them in the grey tones so there isn’t too much colour blocking going on. Layer the darker cardigan over the loose knitted light grey top, then throw on those boots and the bag to add a few shades of difference. I think this is easily wearable when out and about, and it’s toned down as well. I would say this is more of a dressier day time look. You could even add more t-shirts underneath and chuck on a scarf for extra warmth as well.
This look above is more of a classic or preppy look in my opinion. I think white skinny jeans also work really well with tan and shades of camel, as they are both very versatile colours. I chose the beige/camel coloured cape because it will keep you warm at the same time as adding some different volume and shape to the look, while the tan brogues and shopper bag keep it casual so it’s an easy look to wear during the day. The scarf just adds that little bit of extra warmth.
And finally the last look, I decided to go down the classic route of black and white! This is more of a tougher look with the black leather jacket and studded black biker boots, so it’s going to be really casual and easy to wear. I chose grey as the t-shirt and scarf colours because it’s the shade in between black and white and would fit really easily. The ring just adds that little edge as well being that it’s silver and a sharks tooth. Which look is your favourite? You can buy most of these pieces online at Shopbop and SSENSE.
Outfit guides can be difficult because the weather is different all around the world. Here at DB we’re introducing a new series of outfit guides for all the types of weather you might be experiencing this winter, whether it’s extremely cold or something more tolerable like a brisk cold.
The first part of the series is how to dress for the winter in LA. It doesn’t get nearly as cold here as most places, but it’s cold enough to have to bundle up a little bit (to us). If your town is like LA, follow this step by step guide to keep warm and stylish during the Winter.
Since it is the festive season, I wanted to make this weeks going out look really sparkly and appropriate for a fancy holiday party. I thought metallic was the best way to do this, so I chose the 7 For All Mankind Metallic Skinny Jeans in Gold as I personally own them and think they are the best metallic jeans I have tried.
I paired the jeans with a few high end and lower priced items, including this Etro Beaded stretch-silk blouse, Tabitha Simmons Peter Som Helen Pumps and a Marc by Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Henry Chronograph Watch with a Jane Norman Cream Quilted Bag, a Miss Selfridge Heart Ring and a Dorothy Perkins Black and Gold Bangle Pack. I like the overall combination of gold, rose gold and cream here and I think the shirt adds a statement with the tan and black detailing. I think this would be a really dressy outfit that would be both a statement and a clean look at the same time. I especially love those shoes!
