DL1961 asked us to style their Amanda Jeans in Mayhem for our styling post this month. Even though the jeans are lighter washed and distressed, I still got the vibe that they could easily be dressed up, so I wanted to counteract the casual look of them and smarten the look up a little. To keep with the theme though, I went for a boyfriend blazer from Topshop, so the look would be a little bit slouchy, I layered that over a Victoria Beckham Two Tone Silk Shirt as I loved the cream and black contrast.
For the accessories, I chose a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti heels to smarten up the outfit, but the wedge still keeps it a little low key. I added some colour with a Diane Von Furstenberg Citrine Gacie Clutch and then some sparkle with the Baccarat blue french crystal necklace. When I started putting this look together, I actually got a Kate Moss vibe from the beginning, with the skinny jeans, oversized blazer and heels, but I added more colour than she would usually wear. Boyfriend jeans are definitely what I would call a new classic piece, since the trend hasn’t shown any sign of losing popularity. For my weekend going out look, I chose to style a pair of Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans for a more casual weekend look. I paired them with a silk pink blouse because I love the color and it is perfect for spring. I added a white blazer which adds some structure and polish to the outfit, then I chose the bright yellow chandelier earrings to keep the look a bit dressier and add some more color. I chose a pair of rose gold flat sandals and a leopard printed bag to finish the look.
This outfit would work well for a night time look easily. I’d put my hair up to show off the earrings and switch the flats to some heels and tuck the chain into the bag and carry it as a clutch. Would you wear a look like this?
I have been meaning to do this post for a little while now, but having the time and different locations to take the outfits took up a lot more time than I expected actually. The reason behind this post is simply because I get a lot of questions about white denim. Can it only been worn in the spring and summer? Can you really wear white after Labour Day? Does white denim work for winter? There are always numerous questions and my answer is generally the same, I wear white all year round, no matter what the season.
Spring has sprung (well in California) and what better way to start it off than by styling a denim jacket. It’s been a while since I did a post on styling a denim jacket and I thought it would be a great idea to do another one. I chose the Genetic Ryder Jacket in Bone because of its not so stark wash. This makes it the perfect transitional piece to wear from Winter to Spring. Plus the leather sleeves add that little bit more to the look, but in a very subtle way.
The maxi dress and denim jacket is a classic Spring look, but I wanted to amp it up a bit more with the accessories to make it a more transitional look. Yes I paired the look here with these Rag & Bone sandals, but you can easily switch it out with some slouchy ankle boots in the Winter.
