Celeb Guys in Black Denim

So it looks like black denim is back amongst celebrity men including Will Smith, Orlando Bloom, Adam Levine, Colin Farrell, Zac Efron and rising star Shia LaBeouf just to name a few. From skinny black denim to looser fitting straight black denim, washed out black or darkest of dark black, whatever cut they choose they pick black as the wash. I think its a really hot look! Maybe we will be seeing more and more celebs in black denim for 2009. Here are some photos, Orlando is wearing Ksubi and so is Adam Levine. Zac Efron is wearing Diesel Thanaz 8DK of course. As for Will Smith, Shia LaBeouf and Colin Farrell, anyone who can ID these is very clever!

The skinny jean took me so long to warm up to. Now though, I absolutely LOVE my Rag & Bone skinny jeans. Talk about fitting like a glove! Hollywood’s skinny jean is J Brand! These are jeans no one can look bad in. I’ve seen girls of all sizes in these skinny jeans. The key is to extend your leg with footwear with a heel. I love the kick of creativity designers have packed into leotards this season. Everything from the traditional cable knit cottons to Zippers Unlimited to DIY punk-inspired Slasher spandex. GQ ran this shot in September, and I think it is one of the best versions of ripped/worn jeans I have seen in a while.

I can’t bring myself to buy “pre-ripped” jeans.

I was looking at a few pairs of my old jeans (the ones I was debating whether to taper the leg or to leave full) and realized that I have a very specific wear pattern to my jeans that is as personal as a fingerprint (and probably everyone does). Now that I realize it – I would feel self-conscious wearing ripped jeans that didn’t have the fraying on the right thigh left by my keys, or the abrasions on the coin pocket. I was surprised that even the stitching on the back pocket of the jeans was popped in the same manner and location on both pairs (stupid wallet).

Is there a rinse that I can use to slightly “re-darken” the denim?
I think the color now is great, but they will only get lighter and I want to keep them in them close to this shade.

Surprised that UGGs are still selling out?

I’m not surprised that Uggs still, after all these years, are selling-out all over the place. I passed by the New York City Soho Ugg store a few days ago and there was a line of people waiting to get into the relatively expansive store. Despite rival boots popping-up all over the place – many of which are pricy alternatives – like Emu and Australia Love Collective, not to mention ski boots from everyone from Marc Jacobs to Pucci, Uggs are still the penultimate when it comes to winter weather. Even I wear them despite the fact that they’re made of suede, are not water-proof, and never last longer than one season. There just isn’t anything I’ve found to be more attractive that keeps my feet warm in these cool and snow-filled months.

Given the recent swarm of cold weather and snow, retailers have had an even easier time selling Ugg boots. Stanley Eisenman, owner of Stanley Eisenman Fine Shoes in Fort Worth, Texas told WWD that “everyone’s coming in looking for Ugg. They’ve become the perennial gift of the footwear industry.” While president of Summerlin Shoes in Las Vegas Richard Olson said, “our Ugg business is as good as ever.”
