We caught up with Dylan George designer Danny Guez to talk about the inspiration, new styles, and which are his favorites from the spring collections.
For the inspiration, Danny got inspired by a walk on the beach. Seeing the ease of everyone from the surfers to just the location. Another inspiration was the fabric itself. Each pair of jeans come in amazingly soft fabrics. They also hold their shape well too. That is something that just about everyone looks for in jeans, for them not to stretch out and sag in the thighs and butt and these will not.
There are quite a few styles and fits that I think many will love from this collection. For the women they have the Keira which is a skinny jean that is just perfect. They are fitted all the way down and come in many washes. This one is a style that Danny favors and by experience I know why. They are just great. For the men, they have a straight-leg fit, relaxed, regular, and the new Rocker Skinny.
There are also some new styles along with the core styles above. They have the Elizabeth, which is a baby bootcut, the sailor pants, and some shorts as well as capris. The great news about the shorts is that they are all priced under $100. I think this is a great thing. Many shorts by premium brands are just crazy priced for how little fabric is involved. They did push the boundaries on a few new styles. For the women they have a foiled pair and a bit further for the men (well for the usual man). I am loving that more brands are starting to be more open with their men’s styles. They have come out with some coated jeans for the men. There is a coated gray, cranberry, and khaki. I am excited to see the khaki. I think those will be great.
One note that I love that Danny gave is that the signature “Z” might come back to some of their women’s styles. The detail was put on hold for a bit, to make the styles get noticed on their own and not the pockets. Another great thing that Dylan George will be coming out with are some exclusives with Bloomingdale’s and Nordstroms. I can’t wait to see the exclusives. Being exclusives they are sure to be amazing. You can check out a peek of the women’s here and check below for the men’s.
MiH Jeans have just released a brand new style called The Skinny Marrakesh. They love their famous Marrakesh flares so much that they decided to make a slimmer and more skinnier version. I think they look really nice, I much prefer the skinnier flare look as I find wide leg flares to swamp my body quite a lot as I am quite small. What do you think of the new style? You can see it here on the MiH Jeans website. It comes in a pretty dark blue wash called Joplin. Just a heads up for UK readers, MiH Jeans will also be on sale this weekend at Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet, if you are in the area, you should stop by! I was there for the last sale and they had some great jeans.
Diesel have began the re-launch of their female collections with the introduction of a completely new design team, headed up by ex Fashion East and NEWGEN designer Heikki Salonen. This global re-launch of Diesel female sees their collections being stripped of external branding, improved silhouettes which are more feminine and is a collection aimed at a new age group of Diesel females aged 25-35.
The collections are based on a modern day capsule female wardrobe, incorporating premium basics and key stand out pieces which work with, and interchange seamlessly to fit into any woman’s wardrobe. The collections going forward are about discovering the brand rather than it advertising itself through over design or being outwardly branded. This isn’t just about a one-off collection; it’s about building the foundations for a whole new approach to how women dress in Diesel.
I was a bit shocked by this at first since I know so many of us love Diesel just the way they are. I think the branding is what makes them popular because it’s not too over the top. I am sure people will like the new styles, which are going to be minimal, but I am not sure how you strong Diesel fans feel about the change? What do you think? As long as they don’t change the way the men’s look though, I think Diesel men’s jeans are one of the sexiest jeans a guy can wear personally. I’m going to see the new Diesel collections next week in London so it will be interesting to see how they look. Stay tuned for the images.
Looks like my wishes have been answered. Current/Elliott have come out with their Suede Leggings with POCKETS! I have been waiting for them to come out with a skinny pant made out of suede. They have a brown (above) and a black which you can see below. Now for some hope for a suede pair in black and navy with ankle-zippers. You can click here to purchase these pants at Singer22 for $885 and here for them in Black at ShopBop for $876.
Those weren’t the only new style that they released. Current/Elliott is always one to push the boundaries when it comes to the mainstream denim brands. While everyone is coming out with leather skinny/leggings, they took a step ahead and came out with leather flares. Below are the Current/Elliott Frontman Flared Leather Pants. I kind of like these. I wonder if they will come out with them in the array of colors like they did with their skinny leathers? I do think that we will be seeing these on some of the leather loving celebrities. What are your thoughts on them? Are they too much leather? You can click here to purchase these pants at Nordstroms for $925.
