Boyfriend jeans are no longer what they used to be. Since they first came out, they have since undergone a lot of changes. Whether it be the fit or their lack of details, to even their washes; they are a style that can easily lack interest very quickly.
Just like every other style, as the seasons go on, brands start to perfect the fits and add more interesting details without them losing their integrity. From shorts to slouchy slim to baggy, here are some of our choices from a few of our go-to brands that show why the style is still going strong even after six years.
Other than classic blues or solid colors, it is very rare to hear a brand re-release a standout wash in future seasons. One of the main reasons is to make way for other new styles in replace of them. One pair that has fought those odds and will be making that rare exception is the Rag & Bone Skinny in Oil Stain.
They are favorites from everyone from Hilary Duff to Liv Tyler for their updated take on the classic medium blue wash in a fit that is very hard to beat. We still get sightings of these from time to time and now that they are available again, I am sure they will be making a presence on the blog soon. You can click here to purchase them now at LaGarconne for $198
There is a trend that I am calling the ‘Tron’ trend that is showing up in quite a few collections. This season, Hudson released their take on it with their new Dakota jeans. They are a cropped super skinny style with contrasting colored piping along the outseam and rim of the pockets.
The ‘technology’ vibe is not the only thing I get from these. I also find them to have a western feel because of the addition of their classic flap pockets, which makes them more versatile. They come in four different color combinations of black/red, black/blue, grey/black, and classic denim/silver. Which one are you planning on adding to your closet? You can click here to purchase these jeans from the Hudson website.
The past few seasons, J Brand has become even more bold with their styles. The new additions this time around are their new Irina leather pants, Pull-On leather leggings and their classic L8001 leather pants in new shades.
First the Irina, these are a new style that will be dropping late July. They have their classic black leather skinny with piecing details of leather in a subtle yet contrasting shade of grey along the outer seam and knee area to give a moto look to them. Unlike their classic L8001, these have a zipper at the hem of the inseam.
Also new this season are their new Pull-On leather leggings. The pull on style is one that is becoming more prominent by J Brand (they also come in denim). These are as classic as a leather legging can get. No zippers, no pockets, just a simple clean style.
Now for the style that still has everyone raving, the L8001, their classic 4 pocket style. The new additions this season are a dark charcoal color and a bold blue that they have dubbed Blueberry. Which ones are you looking forward to trying?
