Many have definitely started to break the mold of what denim outerwear should be and Heidi Slimane is one that is not afraid to take that on. With the new denim cape that walked the Spring 2016 Saint Laurent collection he has taken many inspirations that can feel dated, yet this felt modern. The patchwork, of course, works well with the aged denim and the cut gives it a demure feel to make it feel classic.
This is a piece that I can definitely see making an appearance at the festivals. Whether it be on his muses Kate Moss and Courtney Love or just a streetstyle shot, this is one piece that will keep you ahead of the banal fashion that is often seen. Rag & Bone has taken a big step that most brands have avoided and that is choosing washes that are part of both the men’s and women’s lines. They have seen the androgyny in them and decided to rework them to suit both. There is their popular Aoyama wash that they distressed for their forever cool Miramar jeans and then other popular ones, like the Rock with Holes and White with Holes. These are all washes that have all been reworked to suit a man’s form.
This was something that I could not be more elated to see when going on the Rag & Bone website. I have been someone that has gravitated towards women’s jeans in not only for the fit, but also the washes. There is more sense of life to them lately, yet they still hold a sense of classicism which is why I think this idea of providing them for both works. How many of you are excited to see that some of their women’s washes have carried over to men’s? Click here to buy these styles from East Dane and the Rag & Bone website.
Citizens of Humanity is one that has been embracing the heritage of denim more and I am not talking in terms of just wash either, but in terms of fabrication. They first started incorporating this aesthetic with their ‘Premium Vintage’ line and with every season they had started slowly getting deeper back into classicism. With this mindset, for the new season they have released selvedge styles for women.
Selvedge has been something that has been put on the back burner for women as super stretch fabrications took over, but to embrace the ‘Modern Vintage’ trend they have decided to take the theme full on. Their take on the trend has a true focus and executed perfectly with the fits, washes and even detailing. They feel classic and organic with the washes, but are tailored to fit for the modern women. How many of you are loving the focus that Citizens has been putting into their jeans? You can click here to purchase these styles from the Citizens of Humanity website.
