Here are some new styles for the new season by Rag & Bone. First up is my favorite of the two, the Portobello Pants in Army Plaid. I have been obsessing over these the past few week or so since I first saw them. They have that perfect balance of prep and grunge that can lean towards either way, just depending on the way they are styled. I would wear these uncuffed with a black t shirt and some classic slip-ons.
Another new style for the season is the Bomber Leggings. Subtle details is what makes these stand out. They have leather piping going down the leg as well as above of the calves. Instead of just adding piping, the idea was thought through and contours to the curves of the legs to make them even more flattering than what the jeans already are. You just saw the women’s collection, but here is the new Mardou & Dean Spring/Summer 2014 collection for the guys. Much like the women’s, it was definitely one of their broader collections. They featured many different items of clothing like jackets, trousers, cardigans, sweaters and of course not forgetting the denim.
With the diagonal button fly, Mardou & Dean released some great washes for next year! The blue above being my absolute favourite! It’s really worn in and washed, but it still remains vibrant. It reminds me a lot of some of the older amazing Diesel washes that I used to love. Take a look through the gallery and see what you think!
Here is a look at the brand new women’s styles from the Mardou & Dean Spring/Summer 2014 runway show which walked a couple of weeks ago. The brand didn’t just do denim this time around, they also included numerous other clothing pieces in their new Spring/Summer collection. They had shorts, dresses, skirts, sweaters and jackets.
Since we are a denim blog though, the denim featured was true to the Mardou & Dean heritage. Each piece had the diagonal button fly that is present in every Mardou & Dean jean. The main thing that stood out to me though was the versatility in their denim. They had flares, skinny jeans, printed jeans in various bold colours, whites, yellows and even black leather. It’s definitely one of the best and broadest collections from the brand to date in my opinion. You can see all of the women’s looks in the gallery below.
Overalls are a style that I am really on the border about. One minute I like them and the next I find them to be very dowdy. It really depends on the way they are styled, and when they are done right, I will be the first to admit that my perspective will change for that moment.
One of the styles that caught my attention this season is the new Lars leather overalls by Elizabeth and James. What makes these different to me than the others was actually not the leather, though it helped, but the details. The lock to be exact. Instead of the usual hook that is incorporated in other styles, both denim and leather, these feature a twist lock, that is very much like ones of a handbag and jewelry, in its place. It is a subtle detail, but it is one that I really appreciate. How many of you are willing to try this style out? You can click here to purchase these overalls at Shopbop.
