Mardou&Dean Jeans & Spring 2010 Look Book

UPDATE: I wanted to include how gorgeous Mardou&Dean Jeans actually are. I tried a pair today and they are fantastic, I never expected (for a not so well named brand) that they would be of as great quality as they are. The denim is lovely, the fit is very very good, I love the fit, the pockets are in the right place for a flattering fit on the butt, the wash is beautiful, I love all of the little details including the little silver metal tag that is attached to the belt loop, the way the button fly goes off to one angle and the fact that they are very well presented and come in their own dark blue satin bag. I definitely recommend the brand for someone who is looking to try new jeans! For reference I own the women’s skinny jeans in Stone wash which are pictured below.
The brand name Mardou&Dean is inspired by the novels written by Beatnik author Jack Kerouac. Mardou&Dean is a Oslo based denim label making jeans for both men and women. Some of the styles in their look book are really hot! I have fallen in love with quite a few pairs.
Mardou&Dean showed its first collection of denim in the autumn of 2007 consisting of one model for men and one for women. There were in total a hundred pairs produced in a small town in Italy. Today the brand has expanded into more than ten models for women and an equal number for men. The jeans are still produced in the same little town in Italy as the first hundred, employing high quality denim throughout the line either from Italy or Japan.
The denim line is divided between two lines, the more classic styles and the more avant-garde ones, this allowing the brand to be both timeless and fashionable at the same time. Overall the jeans are developed with care down to each and every detail. The jeans pay close attention to a very original wide and slightly open fly, the position of the brand label, the engraved buttons and rivets made in Italy, and the placement of the back pockets which they promise will give everyone a perfect bottom! Celebs like Brandy and Byrdie Bell are already fans of the brand.
Mardou&Dean is constantly aiming to express and develop itself by collaboration with other creatives, and at the same time help young talents to be seen. It could be through photography, art, music etc, please see their websites for a better understanding.
The brand is currently retailing in Norway, Finland, Italy and the US.

LOOK BOOK: Citizens of Humanity Spring 2010

Here is the Spring 2010 men’s and women’s Look Book for Citizens of Humanity. The new line features their classic cuts and more exciting washes! Tie dye, acid wash and lots of distressing. Are you a fan of the brand? I’m loving the coloured denim and the denim vests, they are hot! The light wash skinnys are really cute as well. Here is the press release:
The Spring 2010 CITIZENS OF HUMANITY collection seamlessly blends the chic femininity of French Riviera Nautical, the edgy masculinity of Sophisticated Punk and the timeless simplicity of Americana Vintage. The recurring theme of understated luxury and authentic craftsmanship throughout the season brings these distinctive styling groups together to create a collection unlike any other. Knits range in soft spring solids to bold innovative finishes influenced by the denim wash processes that have been perfected by Jerome Dahan and Adriano Goldschmied.
The understated luxury of the French Riviera nautical flair includes beach tone neutrals, crisp whites, washed out blues and nautical stripes that evoke visions of afternoon bike rides through Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. The feeling is relaxed in fit and cozy in feel. Rolled cuffs add a casual ease to Capri pants, mini bootcuts and short shorts that pair perfectly with dolman tees and ¾ sleeve boatneck tops. A color palette of muted eggshell, peach and powder blue compliment the washes that range from the ultra light Heaven and Sky denim groups to the intense Raw and Sunset denim groups.
Pop art is translated into the Sophisticated Punk groups whit the allure of casual elegance. Acid wash denim is paired with burnout tees and extreme hardware embellishments with soft cotton tanks for a masculine-meets-feminine vibe that is anything but contrived. Edgy hardware is used to create oversized crests and insignias on pocket edges, seams and denim vests while moderate to extreme distressing add the perfect amount of wear and tear. Innovative wash techniques such as tie & dye lay the back drop for acid washes in muted black and grey and super stretch acid wash fabrications in vibrant yellow, red, black and nave. A sexy muscle tee or loose fit racer back tank complete this distinctive styling.
Authenticity and craftsmanship can be seen in the Americana Vintage groups with a modern twist. Slim railroad stripes adorn skinny fits and cropped overalls, which are styled with slouchy tees and body skimming tanks. Loose fit shorts and drop rise boyfriend styles feature oversized pockets and functional details such as zippers, old fashioned hammer loops and utility side pockets. Fitted denim jackets are effortlessly worn in innovative prints found in the Artist Collaboration with Will Lemon,
whose screen printing adds a unique hand washed and dyed element to ultra soft cotton knits. Painted serpentine and cloud prints highlight tanks, while shadow, bubble and flower prints adorn tees and tunics.
