Clothes seem to have more of an ease for this season so far. Nothing is too structured or too constricted to the body. It is just a more relaxed kind of vibe with the shows and there is a ton of neutrals.
The Edun show was just that for the Spring 2011 collection. Every article of clothing had such an ease to them. From the denim shirts to the flowy maxi dress and tons of crisp white that is not shown here. Each piece can be mixed and matched and will still give the look of being put together. The attention to detail is great too. The sun-fading on the denim shirt is a nice touch to the usual. The denim dresses are also well constructed. Especially the asymmetrical one sleeve dress. I think the detail of the darting and hip is a nice touch. My overall thought on the collection was that it was great, very easy to wear from day-to-day.
Derek Lam always shows such a tailored ease with each collection. He always has such well put together garments and for his Spring 2011 collection he chose to transform the look off linen into denim. Alexander Wang did it with leather…So why can’t Derek do it to linen?
He opened his show with a denim-look trench paired with a dress that was also made from the fabric. Then a few looks followed also made of the great fabric. There was a new take on the denim shirt, a few flared trousers and a couple of suits, one skirt and the other trousers. For the other garments in the collection, Derek stayed on-trend with the others. He showed looks in neutrals and the two biggest trends of them all this season, crisp-white and maxi-dresses. The catwalks have been filled with maxi-dresses and crisp-whites so far this season. What do you readers think of Derek Lam’s denim-look linens?
FINALLY! A collection with many denim looks. Dries Van Noten is the first to show many (I mean MANY) denim looks this season during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. They had an array of bleached denim jackets, jeans, vests and shirts to choose from. There was even a bleached denim bag. Seriously… tons of bleach. Also in the collection, were sweaters and jackets with denim sleeves. Surprisingly, I am actually a fan of this collection (my favorite is the look above). But, I do think the styling has helped with that. Are you readers a fan of the looks? You can check out the all of the denim from the Dries collection below.
The new Spring 2011 collection by Balmain Homme just showed and there were so many looks with denim. So many that I was unable to fit it all in this post. In the collection you can see the motorcycle jeans (which is a staple to the Balmain brand each season), some cargos, a couple of faded black jeans, a pair of silver jeans and much more. There were also a couple of motorcycle jeans with some graphic prints. You can check out the many denim looks by Balmain below.
