The always unique Gwen Stefani launched her Spring/Summer 2011 L.A.M.B collection at New York Fashion Week. The collection featured tribal inspired prints and bright blues. The collection included both slim cut denim as well as cropped styles. Gwen closed out the show by walking the final look. Like each of L.A.M.B’s previous seasons, I think this collection truly reflects Gwen’s style! Check out some of the looks below:
The past couple of seasons, Rebecca Taylor has featured sweet, pretty florals. Her Spring/Summer 2011 featured plenty of silky floral dresses and blouses. She offset them with true blue colored skirts and flares. We’ve seen tons of high waisted flare jeans coming down the runway this season. It looks like there will be a shift away from the skinny jeans! Check out some of the looks below:

G-Star’s collection also had many great pieces for the women. They had a variety of shorts, jeans, jackets and jumpsuits. There was even an evening dress, which they call the “Kalahari Dress.” It has a raw denim bodice with a very voluminous free-flowing bottom. The tailoring was amazing, especially on the structured denim pieces like the vest and jackets. I also thought the washes were great. They had some really amazing worn-in light washes. Something that I don’t usually associate with them.
Overall, I think this collection is going to be a big hit. I see the shorts in particular being a big one, the jacket above looks like it will be a favorite as well. I can see it on celebrities such as Liv Tyler and Jessica Alba. I also really liked the styling. It looks like it was inspired by G-Star fan, Gwen Stefani. I can see her rocking many of these pieces, especially the parachute pants and their boyfriend jeans. You can check out the women’s denim looks below from the desert inspired G-Star Raw collection.
There was so much denim at the G-Star Raw show that this post has to be split into two, one for the men and one for the women. For their Spring 2011 collection, G-Star showed a progression. The fabrics started getting darker as the show went on. They started with the crisp white trend, then went with lighter washed blue denim and camel, then ended the show with dark blues and blacks.
They had many styles showcased in this desert inspired collection. There were of course jeans, jackets, and shirts. The jeans were sandblasted to look as if they were actually worn through the sands. They also had some jeans that had panels on the shins of each pair. They also showed the trend that many had wished would never kick off, double denim and I think it is here to stay. It started off a couple of years back and it is still going strong on and off the catwalk. You can check out the men’s denim looks below from the G-Star Raw collection.
