Celebs in Denim: Katie Holmes in dVb men’s line!

UPDATE! So even the experts can be wrong sometimes. We could have sworn these were dVb based on the tag but our sources at PRPS denim tell us Katie is wearing Prps Selvedge jeans in the “Boyfriend” fit on the set of Eli Stone - maybe the second pair are not the same ones because the tag REALLY looked like dVb to us! The style number is PRPS01AA in Very Light and the retail price is $330.00.

Super baggy jeans seem to be the new “it” thing in denim right now.  First we spotted Victoria Beckham in her own men’s dVb line, now Katie Holmes has been spotted in them, two days in a row!  See the little purple tag at the bottom of the back pocket?  What do you think of the new super baggy trend?

Celebs in Denim: Victoria Beckham looking not-so-Posh in baggy denim!

victoria-beckham-baggies1.jpg

victoria-beckham-baggies21.jpg

This is not the first time Victoria Beckham has been spotted recently wearing super baggy jeans.  Many of the celebrity fashion blogs are wondering, what’s up with Posh lately?  She’s dressing more like David - and flip flops at Disneyland (below)?  Unheard of for her!

victoria-baggies-3.jpg

I think I know the answer…could it be that Posh is testing out her new dVb line of men’s jeans on herself? Look at the dVb jeans David Beckham was spotted in recently - they look very similar! Or is Posh just trying to bring forth a ”I-don’t-always-have-to-look-Posh” look?  Good for her.  She looks comfy…perhaps she’ll even crack a smile when she sees Mickey Mouse!

Victoria Beckham to launch Posh Frocks!

posh-frocks.jpg

Victoria Beckham looks set to expand her fashion empire after finishing her Spice Girls career for good. The dress collection, called POSH Frocks, looks set to go on sale at upmarket department stores.“It’s fair to say that Posh wants her range to be slightly more pricey than Lily Allen’s and Kate Moss’,” a source tells People.co.uk. “She wants quality to be the most important thing in her designs and this adds cost.”

After launching her down denim brand, DVB by Victoria Beckham, she plans to use the fashion knowledge she “picked up” from Roberto Cavalli, and advice from Marc Jacobs to launch herself as a fashion designer.

Does this mean we might see Victoria exclusively in her own designs, and not making Azzedine Alaia, Herve Leger and Marc Jacobs pieces seem not as appealing?

Victoria may have competition in the clothing design stakes from her former band member. Word is Melanie B (Brown) is in talks to set up her own company to design clothes.

Update!! Word is the collaboration could be with long time fashion friend, fashion designer Roland Mouret. Who she reportedly helped pair up with Simon Fuller. Instead of being called POSH frocks, it may be a Little Black Dress Collection, consisting of 10 designs all retail upwards of £1,000.

Does anyone actually think her little dresses will do much better than her dVb denim line did? Hmm.

Victoria Beckham names new dVb jeans after supermodel Naomi Campbell

victoria_beckham_designs_jeans_for_naomi_campbell_imagesnewshome.jpg

Victoria Beckham’s new Naomi jeans have a very special muse, none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell.

‘She has the most amazing body, the longest legs and is a fashion icon. She continues to be one of the all time great supermodels, and her body and innate style inspired me’ announced Victoria on launching the new wide leg, denim flare she has designed under her DVB label.

Fortunately for Victoria, it looks like Naomi loves the style too. Spotted wearing them on a recent shopping trip in New York (pictured here) the model revealed, I love the fit and cut of the jeans Victoria has designed. I have already worn them many times and people always stop and ask me the make of my jeans.  She’s done a great job capturing a stylish, 70’s rock jean look’.

As Victoria continues to win the support of fashionable friends the world over, we wonder which lucky lady is next? Could we expect to see Anna Wintour donning jeans in the not so distant future?

If you want to capture the look, the new Naomi will be hitting Harvey Nichols and Selfridges stores later this month.

For now these jeans will only be available in the UK but we expect they will make a jump across the pond eventually!

Celebs in Denim: David Beckham in dVb Men’s Jeans

David and Victoria Beckham go for lunch at Wakiya restaurant in Gramercy Park, NY. David is wearing a pair of men’s dVb jeans from the new line that is scheduled to be released in the fall of this year. See the little purple tag on the side?

Are the days of expensive designer jeans numbered?

dvb-worn.jpg

We’ve blogged in the past about how Posh’s dVb line has been relegated to fashion’s basement. The now not-so-posh have been marked down to $30-$60 at discount retailers.  Many of our readers agree, the dVb line’s quality is not as good as other high end denim brands out there, and the materials feel cheap.

Will the economic crisis in the U.S. have an impact on these top-dollar goods such as designer jeans?  I don’t think the days of QUALITY designer denim are numbered, only cheaply produced denim, like Victoria’s dVb brand need worry. Basing all of this on dVb’s faltering success would be very presumptuous to assume all designer denim will end up the same way.  Quality will always demand and usually receive what it’s worth. If it feels cheap, it probably is and that’s what I think the problem is here.

Will the U.S. lingering recession take down the prices on all premium designer denim lines or is it really a quality issue?  Have you cut your spending on premium denim due to the economy being depressed?

Props to Jessie!!! for writing this blog!

Victoria Beckham launches her dVb line at Harrods in London

victoria-beckham-dvb-jeans0.jpg

Despite faltering sales in the United States, Victoria Beckham just launched the first global concession of her dVb denim line at Harrods in London yesterday.  Do you think dVb will have better success in the UK than it has in the US?

This from JustJared.com:

Her fashion rep tells FOX News there are “no plans” to promote in L.A.

“It’s a huge slap in the face,” says Kitson boutqiue owner Fraser Ross. “Her people told us that we won’t be getting an in-store appearance because Victoria was angry about all the negative press she got here and things I said. So instead of trying to fix it, she’s just snubbing us at a time when the U.S. economy really needs a boost.”

Celebs in Denim: Victoria Beckham in dVb jeans

Victoria Beckham was spotted at LAX on May 10th wearing a pair of hot pink dVb jeans.  It’s about time she started wearing them everywhere, especially since her recent bad press related to dVb!  What do we think about her hot pink jeans?  Would you wear them?  Personally I am scared of any color that screams “80’s” this much.  But maybe some girls can pull it off.

And how much do we love the Birkin bag?

Victoria Beckham sues denim company Rock & Republic

victoria-beckham-denim-blues.jpg

From today’s New York Daily!

Victoria Beckham is said to be suing the Los Angeles-based fashion label that once made her line of super-expensive jeans.

The erstwhile Posh Spice claims that haute denim brand Rock & Republic owes her as much as $100 million following her split with the company, according to reports published Sunday in Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

The pricey pants - which bore a distinctive crown emblem on the back pockets and sold for around $300 a pop - hit stores in 2004, and Beckham’s creative relationship with the company at first seemed rosy. “She not only understands fashion and trends but has been a trend-setter and fashion icon for years,” Rock & Republic designer and owner Michael Ball gushed at the time.

But the partnership soon soured, reportedly because the usually publicity-hungry Posh wasn’t devoting enough of her ample camera time to plugging the line. Beckham and the label officially parted ways in 2006, and rumors of an impending suit began surfacing around that time.

Rock & Republic has not yet been served with the claim, the Daily Mail reported, but in the suit, Beckham allegedly states she is owed the payout because the jeans were more profitable than previously thought.

But that’s not the end of Beckham’s denim woes. News of the lawsuit comes on the heels of blogosphere buzz that her current jeans venture, dVb denim, is being dropped by retailers - including swanky L.A. boutiques Kitson and Fred Segal - because of low sales.

Kitson owner Fraser Ross denied he was ditching the line, but told People magazine it is not performing up to expectation - because of Beckham.

“She’s not supporting the line,” Ross said. “It’s not good for her brand and not good for her endorsements. In a tough economy, you need to be in partnership with the people that are selling your line to your fans. That’s the bottom line.”

Or maybe it’s that the jeans, which retail for $250 and above, don’t fit in with the average Spice Girls fan’s bottom line?

Posh, it might be time to go discount.

Posh Relegated To Fashion’s Basement

beckham_victoria.jpg

We previously reported that several L.A. boutiques had dropped dVb denim, which turned out to be untrue, but now even Forbes.com is supporting that story, along with the fact that dVb denim is being dropped to the bargain basement stores, and their prices slashed. Maybe there is some truth to this. To those of you with a Loehmann’s near you, can you confirm or deny?

LONDON - Victoria Beckham’s pricey denim line has reportedly been demoted to less than posh surroundings.

Since hanging up her microphone, the Spice Girl has moved into the bitchy world of fashion, drawing on her “classy” image to become a top celebrity designer.

But her aspirations appear to have taken a hit. According to the British paper The Daily Mail, her dVb jeans have been axed from L.A.’s exclusive boutiques and are now being sold for knock-down prices in bargain-basement stores like Loehmann’s.

It is not the first time that Victoria’s attempts to appear high-class have been undermined by associations with the tacky.

The wife of soccer star David Beckham got her footing in fashion in 2004 by creating a line of casual wear with the denim brand Rock & Republic. After she struck off on her own with her dVb line, she was hit by sniping that she uses low-quality materials for her jeans. Continue reading ‘Posh Relegated To Fashion’s Basement’
