This Spring is all about color. I find this seasons trends to be interesting because both pastel and neon are huge despite them being on opposite sides of the tonal spectrum. Last season color blocking was all the rage and this season if you are wearing anything that has to do with color, you’re good. I’ll be going over 3 big trends for Spring to help you brighten up your wardrobe. Don’t worry, you won’t need to go shopping for a whole new closet, I find that if you invest in one color piece that you can mix and match around your closet, you will be just fine. All of the items below are great statement pieces to invest in.
Pastels have always been a Spring thing, but this season they are huge. I chose to highlight mint because I think it’s lovely. Mint is fresh, clean, elegant and very versatile, not to mention it screams Spring. You can be subtle with these mint accessories (the Melie Bianco bag, Forever21 necklace, H&M socks, or Sole Society platforms) or go big with these fab mint colored pants from Urban Outfitters or this elegant mint Gingham bathing suit from Topshop. Adding a little color to your nails with this great ncla color, Santa Monica Shore Thing, is the perfect brightening boost. Any of these items would be a great addition to anyone’s closet, perfect for adding that beautiful pop of color.
Neons can be really intense if you have too much of them on, that’s why for this section I’ve included some small accessories to brighten up your outfit without blinding people (i.e. green belt and pink watch from Asos, red clutch from Melie Bianco). These highlighter wedges on the other hand are for those of you who are a little more daring. I have these myself and my favorite outfit to wear it with is black slacks, a white tank and a navy lazy beanie. By keeping the rest of my outfit simple the shoes can really stand out and give you the neon you need, which is a great guide line to follow with any neon item.
Floral print is a great symbolism for spring which is why this trend is so fun. Floral is a little easier to mix and match with other prints and even a contrasting floral without it being overkill. Any of these items would amp up your print game. My favorite piece? This bustier from Topshop, that would look GREAT with some high waisted jean shorts. Want to tone it down? How about adding these beautiful floral wedges to your outfit for just the right amount of print.
Ombre or dip dye denim shirts have to be one of my favourite trends of the moment. I think they are so fun and they are a much more inventive and bold take on the classic denim shirt.
I saw this one (above) at River Island in the men’s department about 3 weeks ago and I thought it was beautiful. It doesn’t bother me at all that it’s not a women’s shirt, I don’t really mind what sex my clothes are made for as long as they look and fit me good, it’s fine. I think this one is probably one of the best ones I have seen though. I love the fact that the blue is so intense and bright, it’s definitely more fun and I can tell I am going to be wearing it for a long time. It also comes in a darker blue, more purple, combination, which I think is more classic, but not as fun.
Kate Bosworth was recently spotted in an ombre denim shirt too. Hers was a more paler version (images 4, 5 and 6) and she paired it with a pair of jeans. I sort of like the fact that her shirt (which I think is 7 For All Mankind’s shirt in image 9) has a bleached look on the bottom. Like it was just dipped in bleach and left to spread. I think it’s more versatile and classic than the one I own, but as you know I am more about fun and bold colours really.
Andy from Style Scrapbook did an amazing version of an ombre denim shirt herself. Her DIY is gallery images 7 and 8 and you can see she only dip dyed the sleeves, which I think is a very interesting take on the trend. I love it! You can see her full post here. It definitely makes me want to try doing a DIY myself actually.
So what is your take on the ombre denim shirts trend? Do you like it? My River Island shirt is available for purchase here and the 7 For All Mankind shirt is available to buy here.

Floral denim is already one of this season’s hottest denim trends. With so many different options, from over the top to subtle prints, there is a way for everyone to wear this trend. Check out some options below:
These pastel floral print skinny jeans have an unbeatable price of $39.50.
Madewell’s take on the floral print is a sweet all over print, perfect for those who don’t want to commit to a bolder floral pattern. They retail for $110.
These have a micro print floral pattern on a colored background and are a great way to wear both the colored denim and floral denim trend. Buy them here for $27.80.
Alexander Wang’s take on the floral print trend is with a pair that has a high waist and contrasting floral print. They definitely make a bolder statement. Buy them at Net-a-porter.com for $395.
This pair by J Brand is one of my favorite takes on the floral print trend. The bold pattern gives these an edgier look. Buy them from J Brand for $202.
The Lola Short is a great way to wear this trend into the summer, as the print is bold, but the shorter length makes it more wearable. Buy them at Paige for $149.
These Floral Stiletto jeans from Current/Elliott are also a nice way to try the trend. They have subtle pink flowers which are quite feminine and girly. Buy them at Shopbop for $198.
Floral print denim is a huge trend this Spring/Summer season. It’s slowly been popping up all over the place as brands have been releasing their take on the trend. Jenna Dewan-Tatum was the first celeb that we blogged about wearing floral jeans, we are still unsure on the brand of hers though! Next was Rochelle Wiseman from The Saturdays, she opted for a pair of Paige floral jeans and then most recently it was Ciara, she chose the Citizens of Humanity floral printed shorts. I think they all styled their jeans pretty well.
I’m wondering who we might see next in the trend? I’m hoping Jessica Alba might buy into it, she’s already on board the neon denim trend, so you never know! There are some pairs that I like, like the red J Brand’s, the Citizens of Humanity shorts, the yellow Siwy shorts and the Paige floral jeans. I do find the Paige ones slightly over powering though, I’m not sure if I could pull those off. I have included a whole mix of floral jeans in the gallery below and all of those are available to buy on Shopbop.com and RevolveClothing.com.
