Designer Jeans reviews
Over the past month, I have had the pleasure of wearing and trying out the new California Born mid-rise skinny jeans in the Hermosa wash. It was love at first wear! As I slipped into the incredibly soft and comfortable denim, I knew I would love the fit! With a 95% cotton 5% elastin composition, they truly form to your body and after days of wear and activity they never lost their form-fitting fit.
I was incredibly pleased with the slimming effect that they had! They tightly held form over my whole body with the quality, light weight denim. I especially love the fact that they are not a really low-rise, which aids in the slimming effect. Not only do they have that highly coveted slimming effect, but they also boast a long inseam! Being 5’11, I am always in need of a longer inseam! I was so impressed with how long these were. They can so easily be cuffed or stacked if you don’t necessarily need the length.
There are many interesting details on these jeans. The pocket design and rivets all add a sense that the designers put a lot of thought in to their product. I have been wearing a 29 in brands like Current/Elliott, Rag & Bone and AG, but I actually needed a 10(size 30) in these. While I could have squeezed into the 8, I decided to stick with the 10 based on the fact that they hold their shape exceptionally well without losing their shape. There was no need to sacrifice comfort for fit. I wore them every day for a week, and as a stay at home mom of a 3 year old boy, I was quite active! I was so pleased to see that they had not lost their shape at all. When I finally put them in the wash, they were just as snug and sexy as the day I took them out of their packaging. As a bonus, I was able to run around and play with my son with complete comfort.
Now for the wash, WOW is it a beautiful wash! My favorite detail is the inseam which has a lighter fade effect than the rest of the denim. It is a super pretty medium blue wash that I love for the warmer months! I especially like the color of the wash with white, and other lighter spring colors. At a price point of a little around $120+, I would definitely recommend these jeans to someone looking for a form fitting and sexy fit that is also comfortable and great for everyday wear. You can get them here.
I have been wanting to try the Lennox cut from Paige since they have been released being that they are their skinniest cut to date for men. I am always intrigued when a brand states they are releasing a skinnier than skinny cut for men. After I got them, though not the skinniest, I could not say that I was disappointed with them when I put them on and in their new TRANSCEND fabric, they were just taken to a new level that exceeded my expectations.
I took the jeans in my usual size, which is a 28, and they fit just perfectly at the waist. I did not expect these to be as super skinny as on Harry Styles, but they do fit as they look on the model on their website. The style is fitted down the leg, but with a bit of slouch from the straight cut.
They are a bit lengthy on me, but that was something that I expected as well because of my height. It is not something that is a major ordeal and can easily be fixed with a cuff if needed. The fit overall is a classic well fitting cut that I actually appreciate as it has always been hard for me to find a classic cut that is slim enough to fit well.
The feeling of the Black Shadow wash that I am reviewing here just can’t be beat, I mean you truly can’t beat the softness of these jeans. They even beat sweatpants, in my opinion, with the level of comfort that they offer. It is pretty much the closest thing to silk against the skin without wearing silk. I will admit though that I was a bit hesitant with the idea of the TRANSCEND fabric on the men’s cut as from previous experience the combination of lightweight fabric with a soft hand together can cause an awkward bunching for me personally and slipping. These don’t though, they still bunch and crease just like your classic pair of jeans which just makes me appreciate them more. It definitely has me intrigued to see where they take this fabric in terms of distressing in the future.
The stretch to them is another high note, as they still hold their shape and go back into their original state if you were to do rigorous movement that would cause them to stretch out. I have done the latter like I always do with each pair that I review and they have definitely passed that test very well.
Overall, they are definitely a recommendation for me to any guy to try out because they just feel amazing. They even surpass their Baxter Joggers when it comes to feel. So if you thought those were the softest you had tried, think again. With the lightweight fabric and amazing feel, they will also make the perfect pair for the warmer weather that is around the corner. You can click here to get a pair from the Paige website for $179.

Since hearing about the relaunch of Ksubi, I could not have been more excited to try out the new pieces that they had to offer. Ksubi has always been a brand that has gone against the grain and that is just what I love about them. For my first pair from their new line, I wanted to go for a different cut than what I was used to, so I chose their Hi & Wasted cut, but kept true to my usual black wash and went for the Vintage Black.
I have to say, the cut is pretty amazing and more than what I initially expected from the brand. They are cut higher which lends to a more unisex touch, so if you are on the skinnier side like me, these are a great choice for you. I went for my usual size 27 in the brand and we all know the brand tends to run on the smaller side. But being higher cut, I thought a 27 would work and they did! They are fitted throughout the hips and leg, but if you want a more slouchy cut, I say sizing up would work just great.
The wash is a worn black, one that looks as though they are a naturally worn in pair that were once jet black. It’s a simple wash that can be paired with any piece in your closet. The hand to the fabric was a huge surprise to me. With the previous styles I have tried, they have mostly been on the stiffer side being that they are new denim for the lack of a better term. But these feel as though you wore them down yourself and washed them many times.
Though soft, they do hold their shape and I actually noticed that they hold it exceptionally well. I’ve worn them for days straight and the knees haven’t bagged like most of my jeans have and the waist hasn’t stretched, causing me to constantly pull them up. These are details that I (and I am sure all of you) definitely look for in jeans.
These do have the signature Ksubi details such as the crosses at the back pocket and behind the left thigh. Although the seam stitching at the outer seam is different with these, so this particular cut doesn’t have that detail, but they have standard stitching that goes down the inseam. This gives them a more classic touch to go along with the cut.
Overall, they definitely are a pair that keeps me loving the brand and has me wanting more from them, especially the distressed styles and jackets. Whether you are a slim guy looking for a pair that isn’t baggy or a woman just looking for a great worn in black pair, these are definitely a style to try out. As a brand that has mostly stuck to classic smart styles for men, the new Baxter Jogger by Paige definitely stopped me in my tracks when browsing their site. It’s definitely a cut that is pretty bold for the brand and couldn’t wait to get a pair to review.
The jogger is definitely a new cut from the usual classic skinny styles that I wear daily. As excited as I was when I opened to box to see these, I was still a bit hesitant. Then I put them on and any worry I had left. I got them in my usual men’s size, a 28 and there is some bag to them, but that just lends to the weekend feel of their look. The length is also perfect, which is rare for me being that I am only 5’8″-5’9″ and many tend to lean on the longer side.
The fabrication is what I most amazed about. They are just as the brand describes on their site. Paige has found a way to bond the feel of sweatpants with the look of a twill jogger together so flawlessly that you’ll live in their mantra of #LIVEINIT and I have. They are extremely comfortable to the point of not wanting to take them off.
The trouser cut of the pockets is a nice change for me. It lends to the sweatpants look and it also gives off a chunk vibe that I am a fan of. It smartens the style up a bit. One mishap with these is the faux back pockets. They have welts that are sewn shut and being a huge believer of pockets this is probably just a bigger issue for me than most men. But everything fits into the actual pockets of the front, so it’s not a huge issue.
The wash is a nice solid dark charcoal/washed black of the Black Gravel wash that is perfect for that lazy weekend. You can pair them with running shoes or a pair of cool sneakers or chukkas without a hitch. It really is a wash that is quite versatile.
Overall, I’m pretty happy about these for my first pair of joggers. They have a great cut to them and are a lot more versatile than I would expect. Plus they are so comfortable that I just cannot get enough of it. If you don’t mind the faux back pockets in the back and looking for a new fun cut to try from the brand, I definitely say give these a try.
