Designer Jeans reviews
So this is my debut review! SOLD Design lab offered these to me for a review and I thought to myself that I might as well start doing reviews and hopefully you like this review. I am normally a trouser jean type of person because I have large thighs and many jeans give me leg sausage. They originally were going to send me a pair of their new trousers, but I got these pull on skinnys instead. These skinnys are from their Spring and Summer Look book and they are called Spring Street Skinny in IRS.
The fit of these pull on skinnys is exactly what you would expect from pull on jeans, they are basically like a jegging and super stretchy. They have no zipper just a button closure at the top, pretty much like the same jeans that Lorna reviewed from them here. I’ve had J Brand 901 leggings on Sable and these aren’t quite as stretchy or as soft as those, but I like that about them, they have more of a “jean” type of feeling to them rather than soft pajamas. I wore these on Thanksgiving and they were great because after a HUGE supper I still felt comfortable in them. In fact, I even wore them two days later again, which is rare for me to wear a pair of jeans twice in a week.
The wash is a plain dark blue, which I prefer for skinnys. The darker color looks better on my thighs and the clean wash gives them a dressier look. I was unsure about the back pockets at first because smaller pockets make my behind look even larger. They are placed very well though and I think that helps to even it out a bit. The inseam was nice because they were long enough to stack a little bit if I wanted to wear heels instead of boots, but the material is thin enough so that if you cuffed them and tucked them into boots the extra material would not bother you. They fit SO well under boots too, that is probably one of the main reasons I love to wear them, they are skin tight and boots slide on very smoothly over them.
I’m 5’7″ and normally wear a 31/32 in jeans and I got these in size Large. I’d have to say for skinnys they definitely have me SOLD! You can buy SOLD Design Lab jeans here from Singer22 and here from Revolve.
This weeks review is on a pair of James Jeans Twiggy denim leggings in W.Troy wash. I got these quite a while ago but they were a bit too tight at the time so I didn’t review them. They fit me now though and I am really pleased they do because they are beautiful! They are size 27 and run pretty true to size, maybe a little on the small side.
We have seen so many celebs wearing James Jeans Twiggy denim leggings and now I understand why there is so much love for them. They are one of the most stretchiest pairs of jeggings but they are also a pair that keep you all in place and still look flattering. They are sturdy like a normal pair of jeans but a lot more comfortable than regular denim. The fit is one of the skinniest I have tried in a while, they fit like second skin with a medium rise which is perfect.
This is my first time actually trying a pair of James Jeans denim, I had the cargos before, which I loved, but these jeans were pleasantly surprising. I never know what to expect when trying a new brand of jeans, sometimes they can be wonderful and sometimes they can be a complete disaster. The back pockets are also in a good place to flatter the butt which is always important and I am growing quite fond of the signature pocket design.
The W.Troy wash wasn’t the original wash I wanted to try as it had polyester in the fabric content but I was actually pleased when I tried these on that you can’t feel the polyester. Sometimes it’s hit or miss when it comes to poly/cotton blend jeans, sometimes they can itch my legs like crazy and sometimes you can’t feel it at all. W.Troy is a really dark blue denim that doesn’t have much depth to it, it’s just plain but most dark washes are like that. It’s a great wash for dressing up! This weeks review is on J Brand’s new Agnes fit in the Vintage Navy Twill wash. I took a size down in these from my Houlihan in Vintage Olive size because I think the Agnes is better suited to being worn tighter than loose like the cargos. They do run the same as the Houlihan’s in Vintage Olive though so the sizing is pretty consistent.
I couldn’t work out if I liked these more than the Houlihan’s or not, I think I may like them equally but there is something about these Agnes that just make them so different and likable. I love the zippers on the lap area and the extra long zippers at the ankles, so combining those with the moto style stitching around the knee area, really makes these something special! The other thing that makes me slightly more partial to the Agnes over the Houlihan is the back pockets, these actually have pockets on the back where as the Houlihan just have flaps.
I find these to be a lot more skinny than the Houlihan though, but then that may be because I took a size down. They just feel skinnier in the calf area and at the ankles. The Twill fabric is amazing! It’s so soft and so stretchy, it’s one of my favourite fabrics around at the moment and the washes that J Brand have been bringing this Agnes cut out in are beautiful! I adore the Stealth wash but the Vintage Navy is definitely a lot more practical and wearable for every day errands.
I think, just like the Houlihan took the world by storm last season, the Agnes is definitely the cut to watch out for! We have already seen it on a lot of celebs but I can see it popping up a lot more now they have released it in many washes. I would absolutely recommend this cut to you if you haven’t yet tried it, if you are a fan of the Houlihan then you will adore these! I find it’s always nice to make a change in what you wear sometimes, as much as we love denim here at DenimBlog, it is nice to have a break and wear a different style and fabric from a denim brand every now and then. I’m going to be doing 2 reviews this week again as I have many jeans to get through and share with you. The first review is on these Marc Allison Shirl Classic Bell Flare jeans. I have had them for a while and I think you will love them if you are a fan of flared jeans!
The fit of these jeans is really slimming. It’s really tight fitting in the butt area and the thighs but it flares out into a big bell bottom from the knee down. This is the perfect way to create a flared jean in my opinion. You need the tighter and flattering fit up the top, like you would with a skinny jean, but you need them to be bigger from the knee down to give that great silhouette while not swamping and hiding your figure. They also have that thick hem which adds that classic look to a trouser style jean.
The back pockets are plain as you know from Marc Allison jeans, they just have their little logo on the top right of the right pocket. The simplicity of these jeans is wonderful! They do run true to size for the brand, I am generally a 28 in Marc Allison and these fit me perfectly. They have a really long inseam though, I am wearing 5 inch heels with these jeans and they still just about touch the floor. They would be suited to really tall people or shorter people who love to wear heels.
The wash is a classic and simple medium blue wash. It has a very bright tone to it so they are really blue. It’s not too in your face though like some extremely blue washes. The wash and denim is really soft as well. It makes these jeans incredibly comfy to wear and I love that! There is nothing worse than a really itchy and scratchy fabric!
