Video Denim Review: Bleulab Detour Leggings
Here is a video review of Bleulab’s Detour Leggings in French Chalk with Plum Coating. I mentioned a while ago that I would be doing a video to show you how the details like the zipper and buttons work and just how easy it is to turn them inside out. I reviewed them the regular way a few months ago (which you can see here) but I think this way shows them off a lot more. What do you think of the first DenimBlog video review?
Denim Review: Paige Verdugo Jeggings in Paige Blue
This week I am reviewing one of the new Paige jeans, the Verdugo jeggings in Paige Blue. This colour is Paige’s new signature colour for the brand and it’s also in one of my favourite cuts from the brand!
If you haven’t tried the famous Verdugo leggings from Paige yet, then you really should. They are still one of my favourite (if not my favourite) jeggings from any brand. They are so comfortable and really flattering as well as being skinny all the way down to the ankles and super stretchy. They are everything you want a jegging to be. They combine Paige’s classic flattering fit with ultimate comfort and I honestly do live in the Verdugo. They are my go to leggings for running errands but they also look amazing dressed up. I own quite a few now and I love them! I took a 27 in these which is my normal Paige size and they fit me perfectly.
It’s really exciting trying them in this bold and bright wash though! The Paige Blue is one of those blues that you can’t describe. It’s a medium blue but it’s also a bright blue. I would say the pictures of me in the jeans are really close to how they look in real life. They seem to be a bit paler on the Paige website when in fact they are very bold. It’s a gorgeous colour and I have fun wearing these! This is also a colour you can match with other bright colours like my berry scarf. I think blue is incredibly versatile!
I also wore them to London yesterday for press days and they do remain comfortable for the whole day. That involves a lot of traveling and they only stretched out a bit, they are still very clingy. The whipstitching is tonal on the pocket too so it doesn’t stand out so much. I know Paige says she likes it like that as it makes it look more chic. I agree! For those of you also wondering, I did get my hair cut, I got a fringe/bangs which was really scary, but I think I like it! Buy these jeans online at PaigeUSA.com for $179.

Denim Review: Closed Denim Biker Pants in Khaki
This weeks review is on a pair of Closed Denim Biker Pants in Khaki which I got sent by the lovely brand to try. I have always loved the look of their jeans, they love to try colours and different styles so they have been a fun brand that I have wanted to try for a while. I’m really glad they sent me the biker style as well, I love them a lot more than I thought I would.
The fit of these jeans is really skinny. As you can see from the photos, they are a super skinny jean all the way down from the hips to the ankle. They feature inseam zippers as well so that adds to their skinniness. I have grown really fond of the inseam zippers instead of outerseam zippers. I prefer them as they are more subtle. They are slightly small in the waist though, but I do find that happens a lot with Italian jeans, they are cut differently to the American based brands.
They also have two seams that go down the outside of the legs, not just one outserseam but another one for detailing and I think that makes them very unique. The moto/biker stitching on the knees is also one that I love so much! Sometimes brands find it hard to get this right and make it really realistic while being comfortable, but these are comfortable as well as really well done. The stitching doesn’t go all the way around to the back so they are much more easy to bend your legs in without feelling restricted.
The back pocket placement is quite high up too which does give the illusion that your butt is more perkier. It makes it more rounded and another thing I find with this brand, since they are Italian and cut differently, is they give you a bit more room in the butt area which I find really useful as I don’t end up with the flat or squashed tush look that I do with some jeans.
The fabric of these is really really soft and very stretchy. It feels a lot like a jegging material because it’s really easy to move in and it’s quite clingy. You can see from the photos how soft and tight it feels and looks at the same time. It’s really nice. I took a 27 in these which is my normal jeans size. It’s my first time trying the brand though so I can’t compare the sizing to other Closed jeans unfortunately. Even though these jeans have a lot of detail on them, they are still minimal and flattering. The stitching is the same colour as the Khaki wash so nothing stands out too much, everything blends in which I like. I’m also a huge fan of the Khaki colour, I find it matches a lot of clothes and is easy to pair many colours with. It’s a great Fall/Winter neutral!
I think I have covered most of the details and everything that I can but of course I will always answer your questions through the comment system if you have any! These are definitely in my top two moto/biker jeans! They are up at the number one spot with my James Jeans moto jeans! I love them! These also come in green, red and blue! So if you want to be bold and fun, you can try out those colours as well! Buy the Closed Denim Biker pants online at Closed.com for 189 Euros.

Denim Review: DC Skinny Jeans in Fudge
This weeks review is on a pair of jeans from DC. If you remember our post on how the brand has now ventured into men’s and women’s denim, these are from their women’s line. They are the Skinny jeans in Fudge which I got sent to try from the brand. I have always been familiar with DC, as when I was younger I used to wear their shoes a lot, it’s always nice to venture back into a brand for different reasons though, so I was more than happy to try these out.
As you can tell from the pictures, these are a super skinny jean. I took a 27 in them which is my usual jeans size and they fit me just fine so I would say they are true to size. A lot of the time skinny jeans are actually not as skinny as they should be so I was actually quite suprised with just how slim these are. They have a lower rise too and they are plain all over so if you don’t like heavy branding, like I don’t, these will be fine for you.
I wasn’t sure at first about how comfortable these jeans would be. Purely because I know DC is a brand for people who love skateboarding and sports/hobbies like that, I knew they had to be durable and sturdy. These are actually really soft though, the fabric is quite smooth and even though the denim is on the thicker side, they are still somewhat comfortable. I am really used to thinner denim or jeggings now though so it’s always harder making that transition back into thicker denim. Because the denim is thicker, they don’t sit on my bum as well as I would have liked them too. The pocket placement is fine, it’s flattering, but because of the jeans being really skinny and sturdy at the same time, the fabric tends to fold a bit under the butt area. I haven’t worn these long enough to stretch them out properly yet though, but I am sure that would work itself out if I did.
The thing that attracted me most to these jeans though was the wash. I was excited to do something non blue and the grey on these is absolutely beautiful! It’s the perfect shade of dark grey, but it’s lighter in areas and it has whiskering on the lap. It’s a grey that has a depth to it and it looks 3D almost. I was suprised at just how pretty this wash actually is. To be honest, I was quite suprised with everything about these jeans. I wasn’t expecting them to be this nice for a couple of reasons; the brand isn’t a jeans brand, the jeans are made in China and they have a lower price point of $68. You can feel the difference in the denim quality though, but that’s something I have learned over the years. You can buy these online at DC for $68.

Denim Review: 7 For All Mankind Gummy Gwenevere in Dark Violet
This weeks denim review is on a pair of jeans that you regular readers know I have loved for a while now, the 7 For All Mankind Gummy Gwenevere skinny jeans in Dark Violet. The first time I saw these on Shopbop, I was obsessed with them! They just looked so pretty! The colour was what had me hooked, I already have a couple of Gummy Gweneveres and I love how they fit me, so I knew these ones would be amazing!
These got sent to me by 7 For All Mankind as Shopbop was selling out fast. I had to take a 26 which is the sample/model size as they didn’t have any other sizes available. I thought I would just squeeze myself into them as I am usually a 27, but it turned out that I didn’t have to. These actually fit me just fine. They even feel a little bit loose on me actually, but I am not sure if they are miss-sized or if they really run this big. All of my other Gummy Gweneveres and normal Gweneveres are a 27 but by the size of these, I could take a 25 in them. If this sizing is correct.
The one thing I love about the Gummy denim is how comfortable it is! I wore these all day when I went up to London last week (I’ve included some Buckingham Palace photos for you). That involves a 1 and a half hour train ride there, taxis, walking, a lot of walking, and then a 1 and half hour train ride back home. I wasn’t uncomfortable once in them and I am glad I picked them for that day out. They feel just like leggings and you could easily do yoga or stretches in them without any trouble. Even though they feel like leggings, they still fit like jeans at the same time so that’s why I think they are amazing!
Now the Dark Violet wash! It’s perfect! As you know I love the berry tones and purple definitely fits in to that shade. It reminds me a lot of the blackcurrant drink called Ribena which we have over here in England, I’m not sure if you do in the States, but it’s the same shade of purple and it’s truly beautiful! It’s fun to have this shade of purple in a pair of jeans because it livens up your outfit but at the same time it’s still one of the lesser daring colours, unlike a bold red or yellow. If you love coloured jeans then there is not one person that I wouldn’t recommend these to! They are definitely worth it! They are in my top 2 favourite coloured jeans I own! Buy these jeans online at Shopbop for $169.

Denim Review: J Brand 811 Jeans in Black Cherry
This weeks review is on the J Brand 811 mid rise skinny jeans in Black Cherry. I have loved the colour of these jeans from the moment I first saw them when they were released. I thought they were the perfect shade of red for Autumn/Winter and I was right. I never got to review any of their bright colours from the Spring/Summer collection but I am glad I got these ones instead.
The 811 mid rise skinny fit is definitely not my favourite cut from them if I am honest. My favourite would have to be the 910 or the 901. These have a higher rise than what I am used to and they are also not as skinny in the calf area but when I wear them with a longer top and cuff the hem slightly, they become perfect! I find that’s something I do quite often actually, if a jean is not working for me then I will change things around with them until the suit me. I think these look much better cuffed anyway. I’m sure this is only a problem for the minority like myself though, I have very small calves so a lot of skinny jeans are always too baggy in the calf area on me, I need a super skinny to wear skinnies really. I took a 27 in these which is my usual J Brand size and they fit perfectly.
They have the classic simplicity that J Brand has in all of their jeans, minimal stitching, plain pockets, no back tag etc and this is something I love about them. I’m not into heavy branding on jeans and I prefer to keep things simple. I think that’s why so many people favour J Brand actually, they are all about the jeans and the fit of their jeans, not logos or branding. These are also made of twill so they are super soft and stretchy. I love twill in jeans, only if it’s in lighter colours though as darker twill is a complete fluff magnet! These are not like that, they are just comfortable and nice on the skin.
The Black Cherry wash, where do I start, it’s amazing! It has to be my favourite from their coloured twill skinnies collection. As you know from my post yesterday, I adore berry coloured jeans and these remind me of the berries on holly bushes as well as some pretty Winter berries that you start seeing around this time of year. It’s such a rich, deep and dark red but it’s not too dark that it looks brown. I think the pictures just speak for themselves really when I say how pretty it is. I think darker reds are one of the easiest coloured jeans to wear because they still remain an ‘acceptable’ colour in my opinion. I definitely plan on wearing these more often purely because of the Black Cherry wash. I think if they brought these out in the 910 or 901 cut, they would be even more perfect! Buy these jeans online at J Brand for $169.
