Designer Jeans reviews
This weeks review is on the brand new pants from J Brand, the J Brand Earhart flight pants in Vintage Pendelton. J Brand sent these to me to review and I’m pretty sure they are going to be the trend for the Summer, just like their Houlihan pants were last year. Please excuse some of the photos, I was having issues with the sun shining on the lens and then unfortunately it started to rain so there are rain spots too, ha ha. Nothing like English weather!
The comfort of these pants is the most amazing thing about them, they are even comfier and softer than most sweat pants. They are made from a 6oz twill fabric, so you can imagine just how soft that is, and it’s thin enough to keep you really cool in the hot weather. Because these are looser, they make moving in them really easy, I could quite happily do anything in these without feeling uncomfortable, I’m sure.
I took a 27 in these which is my Agnes and Houlihan size, although I can fit a 28 in the Houlihan, a 27 is perfect in these because I didn’t want them too baggy. My one big issue with these Earhart pants though is the leg opening, it’s designed to sit mid calf but because I have very small calves I find they slip down a lot on me, they fall down into full length pants quite often. If I put them up higher, they bunch too much and look silly so that’s my biggest flaw with these. But like I said, I do have small calves, so for the rest of you they should be perfectly fine and stay up.
The Vintage Pendelton wash is a shade of brown that reminds me a lot of the woods, it’s very earthy and it was my favourite colour out of all of the ones available. Because it’s brown it will go with many other colours so it’s pretty easy to put together an outfit quickly. There isn’t much to say except that these are twill so they are very soft and gentle against the skin, like the Houlihan pant, but they feel thinner and more breezy.
The lack in back pockets on a loose pant like these does make me feel a bit cautious though, I find that they don’t give much definition or shape to your butt because they don’t have pockets, but the prettiness of these from the front and the overall comfort level gets rid of that all together. I think these will be perfect for dressing up with heels or down with flats, they are very versatile. I also think they will suit a lot of shapes, if you are slim you can get away with them looser or tighter but if you have curves I think wearing them tight would be a lot more flattering to your figure.
Like I said above, I have high hopes for these, I can see the celebs wearing them when it’s boiling hot, I feel like they are going to be the new ‘it’ pant for J Brand. Buy these J Brand pants at J Brand online for $235.
This weeks review is on a pair of O*T*R Renegade Skinny jeans in Notorious. I got sent these by Boutique To You a while ago and I was pleasantly suprised by them actually. I am always slightly hesitant when so many new brands come on the scene and then just disappear so I always tend to stick to what suits me the best but these O*T*R jeans have been a good shock. I hope the brand stays around!
At first I thought they would just be another cheap pair of jeans which were not a very nice fit or have a nice look to them, but I was wrong as soon as I put them on. They are leggings so they are super skinny all the way to the ankle and they definitely elongate your legs. They are a lower rise which is just how I like the rises to be and they run pretty true to size for leggings, I took a 27 in these and they fit just fine.
The back pockets are also in a very good position but they are accentuated by the stitching lines on the butt. They have moto style stitching all around the top area of the pockets and a few lines on the sides of the pockets as well as at the hem line. I find these lines really add some character to the jeans as the wash is very plain and subtle, they definitely make them more interesting. I do feel that the lines definitely don’t make the butt look as good as it could if the jeans were plain but the design is intriguing so I like it.
They are made with cotton and polyester so if you have a irritation to polyester then these do itch a bit. They are so pretty though so it’s worth actually putting up with the slight itching. The denim is really thin and stretchy as well so they hug your body perfectly while still maintaining the appearance of a jean rather than a legging. The wash is a medium to light blue which has a sort of dusty look to it so it’s easy to pair with a lot of colours or just neutrals.
I think these are definitely a fun jean for fashion purposes but for essential jeans which are really sturdy and flattering I would still recommend the main stream brands. These do make a nice change though and quite a few celebs are a fan of them already! You can buy these jeans at Boutique To You for $136.
This weeks review is on a pair of jeans similar to my last review, the Paige Premium Verdugo jeggings in Eternity. I got these around the same time as the 7 For All Mankind jeans in Garnet and I like them maybe just a little bit more. The only reason is because of the shade of purple/red they are, it’s beautiful.
The fit of these jeans is the classic Verdugo jegging fit, super stretchy and really comfortable yet still remaining flattering. They have a low rise which is the perfect height and the one thing I love about Paige’s jeans is that she knows how to make the back rise a bit higher so you don’t show off your butt when you sit down. This pair is made from cotton and elastane and is so soft! Being that these are a twill material they do attract the fluff and hairs so they do get quite dirty quickly but that’s easily removed with some tape.
The colour is my favourite thing about these jeans! I fell in love with them a long time ago when I saw them on Blake Lively (here). It’s a deep red but it has tones of purple in it as well, it’s a really unique shade and it’s just so pretty! If I had the choice of only wearing one coloured pair of jeans, it would be this colour. It’s perfect for so many occasions as it’s warm and and it reminds me of ruby’s. When I wore these to London to see Paige she said that the Eternity was one of her favourites too.
I would definitely recommend these to you if you are looking for a coloured jean, the red tones are definitely in this season and they match pretty much everything. I was sent these jeans by Designs by Stephene and I was over the moon because I had wanted them for so long. You can buy Paige jeans at their online store here.
This weeks review is on a pair of 7 For All Mankind The Skinny leggings in Garnet. I’ve always had a thing for maroon coloured denim and when I found these online at 7 For All Mankind, I fell in love.
The reason I like these so much is because I trust 7 For All Mankind when it comes to fit and comfort. I have a couple of pairs of their Gwenevere in the gummy denim and I thought it was time to try their new cut, The Skinny. Comparing this cut to the Gwenevere, these are definitely longer on the inseam and the rise feels a little bit higher. The pockets are also plain and don’t have their signature squiggle design. I prefer the Gwenevere to these, only marginally, but that’s because I prefer the shorter inseam. Other than that, they fit pretty much the same and are just as comfortable.
The wash is a beautiful, deep red, it’s a lot like a maroon colour and it’s really warm. The shade has a Christmasy feel to it because of the warmth it gives off. There are marble undertones to it as well, the marbling is a shade of brown and it gives the jeans a lot of character. They are not plain like a lot of coloured denim is. The detailing is what makes them so unique in my opinion. I love the wash so much because of the two tones to it. Coloured denim is something I am a huge fan of but unfortunately I don’t get to review many pairs of.
I took a 27 in these, which is my normal size in their gummy denim leggings. I vary between a 27/28 in their normal jeans but always opt for my smaller size when it comes to the leggings as they are so stretchy. They definitely didn’t get it wrong when they named this cut The Skinny though, they are definitely super skinny all the way down and really flattering. I would honestly recommend these if you want a pair of deep red jeans with a depth and character to the wash. Buy these jeans at 7 For All Mankind for only $99.
