Denim Review: Rock & Republic Harlan in Hacker Blue

04.16.2010 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

Katharine McPhee rock republic Denim Review: Rock & Republic Harlan in Hacker Blue

My second review this week is on the Rock & Republic Harlan moto jeans in Hacker Blue. I got these last week from Rock & Republic after seeing them on the website and falling in love! They are so unique and very different to the other moto jeans on the market. They have silver foil specks all over them which adds to that punky/rockish look of the jeans, I love that! The pockets are completely plain (as they should be when the jean is this detailed) apart from zippers on the top of them. They have that classic Rock & Republic fit as well, I find them really flattering on the butt and very well fitting down the legs.

I thought maybe the moto jeans would feel very hard and stiff around the knee but this is not true with these jeans, they are very comfy and they feel like you are wearing just a normal pair of jeans. My only issue with these is they are a very rough denim, I think that’s because of the foil on them, it makes the denim quite hard and not very soft. I’m normally a big fan of soft denim, I prefer the comfort of it. Also I would prefer if they came in different leg lengths as the standard 35″ inseam is a huge hassle to most of us haha but I know that’s how R&R make their jeans. I have to tuck the rest of the leg length underneath until I can hem them but I hate hemming on jeans that are so well detailed because you lose a lot of the prettiness.

These jeans really are the best moto jeans I have ever tried though, I honestly love them. The way they fit is really nice and the pockets are the perfect size and shape, the detailing with the foil is really pretty, it’s subtle in some lights but in others it really stands out. The wash underneath the foil flecks is also a very beautiful blue, it fades from light to darker all around the jeans. They run true to size for me as well, I took a 27 and I am a 27 in R&R. Even though the price tag is pretty high at $385 they are definitely worth the buy if you love the moto jeans trend and love Rock & Republic jeans or the brand itself.

Overall Opinion
I definitely recommend these jeans to those of you loving this trend! They are gorgeous! Although the denim is rough they are very flattering and slimming down the legs unlike most moto jeans that make your legs look short and chunky. The silver foil splatters make the jeans really unique and pretty. I think they are great jeans from the brand! Buy these jeans here at Rock & Republic.

Denim Review: Siwy Madeline Shorts In Lilt

04.13.2010 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

vanessa hudgens siwy shorts 2 Denim Review: Siwy Madeline Shorts In Lilt

I’m going to be doing 2 reviews again this week as I missed doing one last week. The first review is on the Siwy Madeline shorts in Lilt wash. I have never tried Siwy shorts before, well in fact I have never really tried Siwy jeans that much, even though I love the washes, they were just a brand I hadn’t gotten around to yet. However, since I got these shorts 2 weeks ago from Michelle, I am in love!! I know I seem to love all of my jeans that I review, but I really do, I love denim so much and I have figured out over the years what works for me and what doesn’t.

These shorts are beautiful! They are not too tight in the legs, they have the perfect amount of room in the butt area, they have the classic Siwy pockets which make them so unique, the wash is very pretty, I love the blue of it, I really like the way the printed pocket lining hangs out from underneath as well, that’s so cute! Everything about these shorts is great! If you are a huge Siwy fan then you will love them or if you are just starting out with siwy, I definitely think you should give these shorts a go! I’ve worn them 3 times already since the weekend, the weather has warmed up so much here.

So many celebs are a fan of Siwy, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens and Rachel Bilson just to name a few! Vanessa was even spotted in these shorts a few weeks ago.

Overall Opinion
If you are looking for the perfect pair of shorts for Summer then these could be the ones! They are so comfortable, so pretty and really easy to wear, they match almost everything and have really deep pockets which is a bonus. I definitely think they are a must have for the warmer weather! Buy these shorts at Singer22 for $164. Denim Review: Siwy Madeline Shorts In Lilt

Denim Review: Dylan George Cara in Orleans

03.29.2010 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

DYLA WJ41 V1 BIG Denim Review: Dylan George Cara in Orleans

This review will be on the Dylan George Cara skinny jeans in Orleans. You readers probably know by now that I am a huge fan of Dylan George since I got my first pair, the Lucy in Czar. I got these Cara skinnies on Gilt Groupe not long ago when they had a sale. They were a great price, too good to pass up! I wanted others but unfortunately they sold out too quickly.

I love the way these jeans fit, they are very good and flattering on the butt and they are slim all the way down the legs. I love that about Dylan George jeans. I wasn’t sure on this much distressing at first but I really like it now, it’s different, not many jeans come with this much distressing. Since they have a denim patch under the ripping they wont rip further and you can’t see any of your skin through it. I think that’s a really good idea because too much distressing all the way down the leg and being able to see skin through it kind of looks slightly trashy and it can cause the jeans to rip lots because they don’t have much strength to them. That’s just my personal opinion though.

The Orleans wash is also very pretty, it’s a dark deep blue and it has subtle whiskering on the lap area and a beautiful depth to it, it’s gorgeous! They also run a little smaller than the Lucy in Czar does, I took a size up in these ones and they fit perfect. As with all Dylan George jeans they have the Dylan George pocket lining which I think is really cute. These ones also have the signature pocket design which lets you know they are Dylan George jeans.

Overall Opinion
If you are looking for a heavily distressed, good fitting skinny jean then this is it. They are so flattering and so comfortable, the wash just adds that extra something to them. I love them! I would happily recommend these jeans to any distressed jeans fan! Buy these jeans at Revolve. Denim Review: Dylan George Cara in Orleans

Denim Review: Topshop Cut-Out Denim Leggings

03.25.2010 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

topshop 9 Denim Review: Topshop Cut Out Denim Leggings

So I said I was doing 2 reviews this week and here is the second one. Topshop cut out side denim leggings. I got these last week and they have changed them quite a bit to the preview pair we saw in the Look Book (above). I really love them! They are so different to the normal jeggings and they are great for Summer as they keep your legs cool as well. The wash is like an acid washed out grey/black colour with black elastic strips on the side of the legs. They are a cotton and elastane blend so they are super stretchy. They wont be available to purchase until the 26th April 2010 so you have a little while to wait yet but it will fly by. In all honesty I do prefer the preview pair because I love how the cut outs go all the way up the leg, I prefer that to them stopping half way like they do on the pairs made for production. This is the first time I have ever tried Topshop Jeggings and I have to say I am quite impressed. The fit is very good and the pockets are smaller so they fit better on your butt.

Overall Opinion
I really like these jeggings for when I want to wear something different. They will be perfect for the warmer weather and going out for fun rather than dinners etc. I would definitely recommend them if you want a fun jegging! You can find out about the rest of my outfit here at my own personal blog.
