Designer Jeans reviews
This weeks review is on a pair of Paige Premium Jimmy Jimmy shorts in Tigerlily which I bought from Shopbop a couple of weeks ago. I was eyeing them on the website for a really long time and I eventually gave into buying them and I am glad I did.
The cut of these is just like the Jimmy Jimmy boyfriend jeans but in a short version. They do run big for that reason so I sized down to a 26 to make them fit me a little tighter, I prefer my jeans and shorts tighter as they are more flattering. If you want these shorts to be loose then go with your normal Paige size but if you want them tighter fitting then size down.
The good thing about these shorts is that you can wear them cuffed or uncuffed. They just come rolled up, but if you want them longer you can let them down. These are definitely a pair of shorts which you can make your own and wear exactly how you want to with the length. The whipstitching is something I was attracted to as well. Paige usually has thinner and smaller lines on the side of her pocket but these are oversized and I think that makes them look a lot better.
The Tigerlily wash is one that I can’t quite describe. It’s a medium blue with a lot of whiskering and creasing on the lap area but in some lights it looks a lot darker than it actually is. It’s a hard wash to explain but it’s beautiful. The wash is actually what made me fall in love with these shorts in the first place. It’s very pretty and it’s also really versatile, you can wear a lot of colours with it.
I can tell these shorts are going to be my go to pair when it’s hot enough outside, they are so comfortable, soft and very stretchy. All of the qualities I look for in a pair of shorts combined with the flattering fit that Paige has with all of her denim. I find some shorts can be too tight, too rigid, too short etc, these have the perfect balance and I am really happy I bit the bullet and bought them! These seem to be one of Paige’s best sellers and now I know why! I would definitely recommend them to you! Buy these shorts online here at Shopbop.
Here are the modelled/fit photos of my Paige Premium collaboration jeans, the Skyline in Lorna wash. Since I always do denim reviews for you, I thought it would make sense to also model these jeans so you can see the fit but obviously not review them.
I’m really excited that some of you have bought them already and there is already some limited stock on Shopbop as well as size 32 being sold out. I’m really grateful to you all for liking the collaboration. The wash on these is quite a bit darker than the sample and the Tristan, it got darkened during production and the distressing is not as prominent on these, like it was on the Tristan, but I do think that makes them a little more versatile, the cleaner they are, the easier they are to pair with different clothes.
The fabric blend is super soft and stretchy as it has elasterell in it so it’s very comfortable and feels different to other Paige jeans. I will mention that you should probably take your smaller size in these though, a 27 fits me perfectly and I am usually between a 27/28 in Paige jeans. As you can see from the tag, it’s a special collaboration tag which explains about the collaboration and also includes a little saying which I wrote in memory of loved ones. They also have a bright pink lining as pink is both Paige’s and my favourite colour. You can see the other posts about the collaboration by clicking here. Please comment and let me know what you think of the jeans.
I have been so excited to review these jeans for you all! This is my first coloured denim review I have posted on DenimBlog (even though I love coloured denim) and it feels like it’s going to be the best one! I got sent these Current/Elliott The Skinny jeans in Bright Rose in the mail from Trilogy a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with them as soon as I saw a glimpse of the colour in real life.
Those of you who know me, or read DenimBlog regularly, will know that pink is my favourite colour, so you can understand how happy I am due to the fact that these jeans are the most prettiest pink I have ever seen in denim. The camera actually struggles to pick it up very well because it’s so intense. The shade is so vibrant and so bright, you can’t really understand how hot it is until you see it in real life. I didn’t expect these to be as gorgeous as they were just from the photos online. They are definitely bold and daring and they make you stand out a lot, but I think as long as you keep the rest of your outfit fairly neutral, it works.
The Skinny fit is sort of a classic for Current/Elliott, it’s a perfect skinny jean in the sense that it’s fairly low rise, super slim all the way down, the inseam is not too long and it runs true to size for the brand. Again, I took a 26 in these and although they do run slightly, just slightly, smaller than their other denim, I can still fit them.
Since these are a coloured jean, the fabric is not as soft and not as worn in as their other jeans. I usually love the brand because of how soft and delicate their denim is against your skin but because these are just dyed and haven’t been washed a lot and made to feel worn in, they are not as soft, but that’s not a bad point at all, I find them to still be very comfy and still soft in comparison to some other brands denim I have tried.
I think, if you love coloured denim, or just want to give it a try, Current/Elliott is the way to go. They have really made their washes so fun and they literally scream at you with their intensity in colour! They have pink, yellow, green, blue, coral and purple to choose from. The coral colour, called Punch, is another favourite of mine and looks amazing, I would love to try that one too. I think it’s safe to say that these actually might be my favourite pair of Current/Elliott jeans that I own and have seen. They are stunning! They make you feel so happy and cheerful just from the fact that they are bright pink! I love them. Click here to buy these jeans online at Trilogy.
This weeks review is on a brand I haven’t reviewed before but am definitely quite fond of, MiH Jeans! I’m wearing the Breathless skinny jeans in Pinetop wash which I received from MiH in the mail last week. So many celebs are fans of the brand now and we are often seeing Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer and Sarah Jessica Parker in MiH Jeans!
These do run quite small in comparison to other MiH Jeans, definitely take a size up. I was told this by MiH themselves and I am glad I listened to the advice. I am always a 27 in MiH but I took a 28 in these and they are still quite tight and fitted. The fabric blend is quite stiff and not as stretchy as other jeans so this is the reason you need to size up. They do take a while to break in the stiffness but once you get there, it’s definitely worth it! They are soft on the skin and I remember MiH saying to me that none of their styles have polyester in so that is really good news to me!
The fit of these is classic, it’s a low rise skinny jean with a very slim fit all the way down. The ankle area is not super peg skinny like some jeans but it’s also not the loose fit like others can be. It’s a perfect in between amount. I’m definitely a huge fan of MiH skinny jeans! I also own the Paris cut and those are just as cute when worn cropped.
The thing that makes me like MiH the most is their different back pockets. Most back pockets on jeans go into a point which is the standard pocket shape, but MiH jeans have a more square cut to them. The bottoms of the pockets are straight and I find this to be so flattering on the butt. I was very unsure if it would be at first, I’m always skeptical about trying new styles when I know what works for me, but these suprised me in a good way. If you have any concerns about trying the brand then the skinny fits are definitely the first ones to try. Their flared jeans are cut differently with the back pockets so I would definitely recommend the skinnies first to get a good feel for the brand. I think I can safely say you wont be disappointed.
I do find the back rise on these jeans to be quite low so if you do have a bigger butt make sure you wear longer tops otherwise you will get the ‘builders butt’ syndrome, but the low rise is definitely not a bad thing. I always actually prefer lower rises because I find them a lot more flattering to my shape. Higher rises are generally a no go area for me. They make me look a lot shorter than I actually am.
The first thing that attracted me to these jeans was the Pinetop wash. I think it’s really pretty, it’s a classic mid blue with a lot of character to it. Even though it’s quite plain, it’s still one of those really nice washes. I decided to go with a more neutral outfit for these jeans as they are so subtle, it shows them off a bit better than it would if I dressed up a lot. Out of all the MiH washes on their website, these definitely are my favourite! I think Pinetop is really pretty!
The little details on MiH Jeans is always something that has attracted me to the brand as well. I love the dove they use as their logo, especially the different colours it’s stitched in on the back pockets. This particular pair has a red dove. The pocket linings are also pretty with prints and writing on them and their button has a dove on it as well. I’m always intrigued by the little detailing and aesthetics of jeans, they add so much to the brand and individual pairs. I’m also fond of the brand as it’s English, it’s hard to find English premium denim brands now. You can buy these jeans online at MiH Jeans in the sale for £133 and you can see some of the new styles which will be available soon from the photos I took at their studios here.
