Denim Review: Rich & Skinny Legacy Zip Legging In Slick Black
This weeks review is on the Rich & Skinny Legacy Zip Leggings in Slick Black. I think I have finally found what I have been looking for! I wanted the perfect pair of skinny jeans that ticked all the boxes; comfortable, super skinny, pretty and extremely shiny. These jeans are all of those things! My search is over!
The fit of these jeans, if you are familiar with Rich & Skinny, is definitely one of their classic cuts, they have the low rise, the really skinny leg, the flattering back pockets and their usual embroidered logo on the back pocket. Rich & Skinny jeans are actually among one of my favourite brands when it comes to fit, I know I can count on them to make a perfect fitting jean for my body shape, they really look nice. I love minimal jeans as well so I am very fond of the back pockets being completely plain, that’s something I often look for in a jean now. I’m definitely over that phase of over embellished pocket designs.
The wash of these jeans is really what makes them special! They are waxed so much that they give the impression of PVC or leather, which is exactly what I was looking for! The material content does have polyester in it which is kind of my nemesis but due to the amount of wax on the jeans, I can barely feel the itchiness so that makes me really happy! Because these jeans are also a denim legging they are so comfortable! They are really really stretchy and a lot more breathable than you would think. The only downfall to the wash is that you can really smell the wax, it’s quite a strong smell but I am willing to put up with that because in order to make a jean this shiny you need that amount of wax unfortunately. Plus, the smell will fade after time.
The ankle zips on these jeans also add a lot of character to them. I love having aesthetics on a jean that give a lot more to the overall appearance of the jean, I find it makes them much more interesting and easier to wear. The inseam on these is a standard inseam and it runs at around 31″ I would say, even though it states 29″ it feels a lot longer, so for those of you with shorter legs like myself, the zips do bunch up a little at the hem and I think if you have quite short legs then it wouldn’t look as good because the zipper makes the bunching really awkward.
Overall though, I am completely in love with these jeans and how shiny they are. I honestly found the perfect pair, on my second try as well! They are gorgeous and I love how realistic they look. I think Rich & Skinny, as a brand, have really come a long way in the past year, they have really hit the top spot with the current trends at the moment and their designs have really gotten a lot better in my eyes. They also made one of my favourite cargo pants! If you haven’t tried the brand yet then I honestly would recommend them to you. These jeans are also a pair I would recommend if you love the shiny/faux leather looking jeans, I love them! Buy these leggings at Rich & Skinny for $194.

Denim Review: 7 For All Mankind Dojo Jeans In Daring Cleo
This weeks review is on a style of jeans that I didn’t think I would like. I fell in love with these 7 For All Mankind Dojo jeans in Daring Cleo when I first saw them on Jessica Alba a little while ago and then Kourtney Kardashian. They are such a beautiful cut and they are perfect for the Fall trend of flared jeans. I thought, 7 For All Mankind are really pushing their Trouser Story jeans for Fall, so who better than the wonderful brand to try a pair?
I wasn’t 100% sure on these jeans when I first got them. The Dojo cut is very new to me and the thing that was throwing me off was how loose they are around the knees. As you know, I am always used to tight fitting jeans and it was quite strange to get used to jeans fitting tight in the hips and butt area but loose down the legs. After feeling my legs have some breathing space and get used to it, I really liked the fit. The thing I love most about them is the length, they are super long so pairing them with high heels really makes your legs look long and lean. The rise is also not too high like it is on most trouser jeans, the rise is a standard jeans height and the back pockets are 7 For All Mankind’s classic fit, but they don’t have their signature embroidery, they are completely plain. These jeans for me are also true to size, I took my normal 7 For All Mankind jeans size and they fit perfectly.
When I first saw these jeans, the thing that got me hooked on them was the wash, it’s so pretty! I had always wanted a lighter washed pair of flared jeans but a wash that had some character to it, not too plain and not too over the top. This Daring Cleo wash is just that! It’s the perfect shade of mid blue but it has nice lap whiskering details and it’s lighter around the thigh area. I really like it! I can’t see myself doing a jean that is any wider than these though, I think this is the widest I will go when it comes to trouser jeans. I can definitely see why the celebs are loving this jean in particular! I hope we see a lot more of it! Buy these jeans at 7 For All Mankind for $189.

Denim Review: Citizens Of Humanity Avedon Black Wax Twill Jeans
This weeks review is on a pair of Citizens of Humanity Avedon skinny jeans in Black Wax Twill. I have always been fond of the waxed denim look and I wanted to give it a try with a brand that I know and like the fit of. I tried the Avedon jeggings many months ago in a dark blue wash and I was hooked on the fit! They fit amazingly and these are no exception.
The jeans have the perfect Avedon skinny jean fit that you are used to if you love Citizens of Humanity, they are skinny all the way down but not as skinny as an ankle peg jean and they have a bit of a longer inseam so it gives that stacking look that I am fond of on my jeans. The rise is the perfect height as well and the pockets are positioned in exactly the right place to give your butt that perfect shape that everyone loves in a jean. I was originally apprehensive about trying Citizens of Humanity jeans, mainly because I wasn’t too fond of the older washes and the back pocket logo is one I am also not too keen on, but have grown to like. I do prefer their signature pocket design to be the same colour as the wash of the jean so it’s not too in your face, so these are perfect for that.
I want to talk about the wash most importantly because I was very eager to try this waxed denim trend and I was hoping for a pair that were very shiny and give off that faux leather look, these unfortunately are not it. They don’t shine very much at all, they have more of a subtle waxed look about them rather than that shiny look that I originally wanted. Although they don’t meet my needs of being like faux leather, the wash however is a very nice black, it’s a black that looks really clean and crisp, one that looks amazing dressed up even if it is a major hair magnet because of the wax finish.
One thing I always thought was odd about waxed/faux leather style jeans was how much they give you that sausage leg look, I always assumed this reason was because they were being worn much too tight and the wearers had literally stuffed their legs into the jeans, but I found out that this was not the case. It seems that, because of the wax on the denim, they seem to give off that look and fit that way even when they are not too tight. The fabric doesn’t seem to bend and stretch as much as normal denim because of the coating, it seems to fit a little bit more awkward on the legs which creates the sausage leg illusion.
Overall though I do love the Avedon fit from Citizens of Humanity, I think it’s such a flattering and well fitting jean that is so versatile and perfect for any occasion. If you are looking for a very shiny waxed jean then I wouldn’t recommend this wash but I would suggest it if you are looking for a gorgeous, classic and clean black wash. Now I can’t wait to try more waxed denim in my search for something extra shiny! Buy these jeans at Donna Ida in the sale for only £95.

Denim Review: 7 For All Mankind Gwenevere Slashed Knee Jeans In Shaia
This weeks review is on a brand of jeans that belong in my top 3, 7 For All Mankind! I’m very fond of this brand because of how amazing their fits are and the range of different washes they come out with. It’s a brand that’s definitely not afraid to experiment and I love that!
I have had these 7 For All Mankind Slashed Knee Gwenevere jeans in Shaia for a while now and I have been living in them. They are just so comfortable! They have 3% stretch and the denim is so soft, they actually almost feel like a jegging but a bit thicker. They have the perfect Gwenevere cut which is actually my favourite cut from the brand, it’s super skinny all the way to the ankle, the rise is the perfect height and they have the classic 7 For All Mankind signature pocket design. I definitely can’t fault the fit of these jeans! I get compliments on the Gwenevere fit quite often because of how flattering it is, it’s definitely a cut I would recommend for anyone wanting skinny jeans from the brand.
Lately, I have been falling for the medium/lighter washes more so than the darker ones, which is odd because I normally like the light washes for Summer and the darker ones for Winter, I think I have done it backwards this year! The wash has a grainy feel to it, it looks like it has mini dots all over it because of how it’s put on the denim, it actually looks like it’s been brushed on but it hasn’t. I love that it looks so different, it really gives it character and the rips in the knees I like a lot too, they make the jeans feel less boring, I’m definitely always up for giving different aesthetics to jeans to make them look different. Now since it’s getting colder, I need these jeans without the slashed knees so I can stay warm!
The photos do make these jeans look a bit darker than they actually are in real life, I would say the Revolve stock photos are quite close to their original wash. I definitely can’t fault anything about this pair either, I love everything about them! Buy these jeans in the sale at Revolve for only $129!
