Denim Review: Bodymetrics Serfontaine Sapphire Skinny Jeans

body metrics jeans 2 Denim Review: Bodymetrics Serfontaine Sapphire Skinny Jeans

This weeks review is on the Bodymetrics jeans. I did a post a while back on the Bodymetrics Scanner here and I mentioned I would be reviewing the jeans soon. The machine chose the ‘Sapphire’ fit for me which is the middle fit, it’s ‘Moderately contoured from the waist through the thigh for a timeless classic shape’.

I wanted to start by saying that the machine definitely chose the right cut for me. These jeans fit me perfectly in the waist and butt area as well as the thighs. Those of you who read my reviews every week will know I normally end up with jeans fitting me a bit looser in the thighs if they fit my waist. These fit all over and even the inseam is the perfect length. The scanner really did do a good job and I’m more impressed with it than I actually thought I would be. There were not that many pairs I liked from the selection but this pair I definitely did like. They are classic and gorgeous! The new season has some more amazing styles though which you can see here from the press day preview post from when I went to London.

The cut of these is a super skinny ankle peg jean with a low rise. They are from the brand Serfontaine who now only make the Bodymetrics jeans. I’d never tried their jeans previously but I was quite impressed with this pair. I’m not a fan of over embellished back pockets and I’m happy to know these are stitched in the same colour thread as the denim so it doesn’t stand out like on the other pairs.

The fabric itself is amazing. They are jeans but they almost feel like jeggings because of how stretchy they are, they are so soft and comfortable, it does feel like wearing silky denim and I love that. I like nothing more than a comfortable and soft pair of jeans on my legs! The wash is completely classic too, it’s a really dark, almost black looking blue and it’s got a pretty sheen to it which adds so much life and energy to the jeans. The wash is one of those that can be dressed up or down, it’s perfect for any occasion.

Although these jeans are really gorgeous, I’m not just saying that either, I always try to be honest in my reviews, my favourite thing about them is the long ankle zippers! I love ankle zips and these ones go right up to the knee as you can see. That makes the jeans that little bit more edgy and fun! Ankle zippers always brighten up a regular pair of jeans in my opinion.

I would definitely recommend trying the Bodymetrics Scanner! It’s in the Selfridges in London on Oxford Street and it’s worth it! The scan is really quick and then you get to choose your jeans after you know your fit. It’s a great experience. I know my body really well and what jeans fit me best so I was suprised by how well it actually did!

My Custom DIY Levi’s Shorts

05.06.2011 Posted in Denim DIY, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

custom levis 4 My Custom DIY Levis Shorts

I thought I would do something a little different in what I share with you and customize a pair of Levi’s. I often customize my denim by ripping, shredding, patching, hemming, studding, paint splattering etc because I love to make jeans more my own.

This time I took a pair of higher rise Levi’s jeggings that I had and chopped the legs off to make them into shorts. It’s best to cut one leg first after measuring where you want them and then fold them in half and cut the other leg against the already chopped one to make sure they are the same. Since these were completely plain (see the first gallery image) I decided to make them a little more edgy and distress them. I took a small holed cheese grater and something hard to put inside the leg and then grated the denim really hard where I wanted the distressing. It does take a while to get the destruction as you want it. I also made abrasions on the zipper area, the pockets, the back pockets and around the waist band.

After I had finished doing all of that I soaked them in water to get all of the dust and fabric bits off and then I left them in the sun to dry for a while to fade the denim a bit. I then chucked them in the tumble dryer to roughen them up a little bit more. Finally I frayed the edges of the new hem with scissors. It’s really easy and simple to make your own shorts this way, it just takes a lot of patience to get the end result. I do prefer to customize and make my own denim shorts to actually buying new ones. How many of you do the same thing?

Denim Review: Mardou & Dean Skinny Jeans in Stone Crunch

04.29.2011 Posted in Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

mardou 15 Denim Review: Mardou & Dean Skinny Jeans in Stone Crunch

This weeks review is on a pair of jeans I have been meaning to review for a while, Mardou & Dean skinny jeans in Stone Crunch wash.

When I first found out about Mardou & Dean over a year ago, I really took a liking to the brand. The thing that first attracted me to the jeans the most is the asymmetrical button fly, I love the way the buttons peep through as well as being quite big and silver. What I always find common among the European brands like these is that they do run smaller than other LA based premium denim. The rises seem to be lower and the legs are a lot tighter fitting. I generally love lower rises and slim fitting jeans so that’s not too much of an issue for me but I did take a 28 in these and I definitely could have fitted a 29 better in the waist really. I would recommend sizing up one size in these from your normal size in Paige, 7 For All Mankind etc.

The inseam comes as standard and it is pretty long for skinny jeans, I haven’t measured it but I would guess it’s around a 32″ or 33″ inseam so they are quite long for us shorter girls but perfect for the taller ladies. They do appear shorter on me but I always fold the hem line under in a certain way to minimise the bunching. The fabric is also incredibly soft and it has a nice feel against the skin, I love softer denim so that makes me really like these jeans even more. The back pockets are a different shape to most premium jeans as the inside seams of them curve inwards towards the middle seam of the butt area. They are really flattering in this shape so it makes a nice change.

The wash of these jeans is my favourite out of all of their seasons washes, I adore the medium to light blue washes and these are really pretty because they have faded areas on the thighs and subtle lap whiskering. The faded areas look really authentic and they are in the right places to be flattering on the legs, I know sometimes the fading can be in the wrong places and make your legs look really large, these don’t do that.

If you haven’t tried the brand yet, which I am assuming most of you wont have because they are still kind of new, you definitely should. Nicole Richie has already worn a pair for a magazine shoot a while ago and you can check out all of the Look Book images and information on the brand here.

Denim Review: M2F Brand Denim Skinny Jeans In Rose

04.19.2011 Posted in denimblog, Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

m2f 2 Denim Review: M2F Brand Denim Skinny Jeans In Rose

I was really excited to finally receive these M2F jeans from them in the mail as I have been in love with the brand since I first heard about them. Those of you who read DenimBlog often will know I am a huge fan of colour so it’s great that a denim brand has finally come around that makes vintage looking washes in lots of colours!

I wanted to start by saying that these jeans are so soft! The denim feels like butter and it’s really smooth and comfortable against the skin. It’s lightweight as well so it’s perfect for the warmer weather, it’s really breathable. Being so light in colour will really help reflect the heat too. I also think these jeans are a perfect fit! They are super skinny all the way to the ankle and they have a normal low rise which is just right. The pockets are really simple and only have a little bit of embroidery at the top as you can see and I think that’s a good point to have on a coloured jean, you don’t want them too over the top.

Since pink is my all time favourite colour I chose the Rose shade they have on offer. I was torn between picking the purple or the yellow as well but pink is more versatile in my opinion and I’m really glad I picked this shade. I love how they do the washes, they are completely faded and look so worn in, they definitely have that vintage and sun bleached look to them. It’s really nice to have new jeans feel just like they are your favourite pair you have spent ages breaking in and have made really soft and worn out.

I took a size 28 in these and I am glad I did as they do run quite tight. I’m normally between a 27 and a 28 so I would recommend going with your bigger size if you are between sizes. The denim is very stretchy though so they are not uncomfortable at all, even though they fit snug all over you can still move in them and feel relaxed. That’s another thing I love about the jeans. They do look really small when you get them out of the package but sometimes I am suprised with that in general because of how much jeans can expand with stretch.

I do think these M2F Jeans are so much fun! They are going to be perfect to wear all Summer because of how light the washes are and the array of colours they come in. They are definitely everything I expected them to be, if not more. I have already received a few compliments wearing them for the first time so I would definitely recommend the brand to you.

We have already started seeing celebs in the brand like Whitney Port, LeAnn Rimes and Maria Menounos so I hope we will see more soon! Singer22.com have just ordered them in so you can now be the first to have them by preording them at their website for only $130 here. They will ship on 30th May. That’s another great point about M2F Jeans, they have a lower price tag than most premium denim. As always, if you have any questions about the jeans, just leave a comment and I will answer you as soon as I can!
