Denim Review: J Brand 901 Low Rise Velvet Jeans in Lava

10.18.2012 Posted in Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

j brand velvet1 Denim Review: J Brand 901 Low Rise Velvet Jeans in Lava

This weeks review is on the J Brand 901 Low Rise Legging Jeans in Lava Velvet. I’m actually having a hard time trying to find these online, all I can find is the 801 version which has a slightly higher rise, so those are the ones I have linked up to buy at the bottom of this review. This is my first time trying velvet jeans/pants, even though I have been in love with the fabric for some time now. I like venturing outside of denim sometimes as it’s always nice to review something a little different!

The 901 fit from J Brand is actually my favourite fit they have as it happens. I own it in a couple of washes and it’s the style that suits my body shape the most compared to everything else they offer. The lower rise and the lower positioned pockets is what tips it for me when it comes to the fit. I like the inseam length, the positioning of the pockets as well as the overall slimness. They are very well fitted usually.

Denim Review: Paige Skyline Ankle Skinny Jeans in Porcelain Leaf Print

10.11.2012 Posted in Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

lorna burford fashion week Denim Review: Paige Skyline Ankle Skinny Jeans in Porcelain Leaf Print

This weeks denim review is on the Paige Skyline Ankle Jeans in Porcelain Leaf Print. I originally fell in love with these jeans when I saw them at the AW12 press day in London and they were my favourite from the entire collection. At first glance I thought they were a spiderweb print, but then when I looked at them closer, I saw that they are leaves, which is naturally perfect for Fall!

The fit of these is exactly like Paige’s classic Skyline, however instead of fitting just right like most of her regular blue denim Skyline’s, I found these to be quite tight and very hugging, much like the Verdugo, but with a slightly different fit. I could possibly go as far as to say these feel almost like a cross between the Verdugo and Skyline in the sense that they are almost jegging like with the material, yet not skin tight from the knee down. I actually really like the snug fit these have as I was quite worried. Originally I thought that since this was a fun fashion print, it would look a bit awkward if they fitted slightly loose, so I am glad that the design team made these more elasticated and tighter fitting. That was a good change in designing which works so well. The rise is of a classic height for Paige and even though these are really an ankle jean, with my shorter legs they become full length on me, which is fine too.

Denim Review: M2F Brand Denim Skinny Jeans in Wintermelon

10.04.2012 Posted in Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

m2f 3 Denim Review: M2F Brand Denim Skinny Jeans in Wintermelon

This weeks denim review is on a pair of M2F Brand Denim skinny jeans in Wintermelon which I got sent to try from the brand. Wintermelon is one of their newest washes for the cooler weather in their most classic skinny fit. I have mostly been used to their pale rose and lavender shades from last Summer, however I am enjoying the more intense washed colours they have for this season!

The fit of M2F skinny jeans is a lot like how I described my last pair. It’s got a mid to low rise and it’s slim in the thighs with a little looseness in the calves. I would say the leg opening is somewhere in-between a regular 12 inch skinny and a 10 inch ankle peg. It fits a lot slimmer than a 12 inch opening, but at the same time it’s not skin tight, so it has some stacking. These are great for longer legs as they have a fairly long inseam (much longer than I am used to), but I quite like the bunching up look sometimes, it makes a nice change to my usual ankle pegs. I did take a size 27 in these, which is my usual size, however they are quite snug, so I would say if you are in-between sizes, take your larger size and they should fit quite well.

Denim Review: Closed Marlow Boyfriend Skinny Jeans

09.27.2012 Posted in Designer Jeans reviews by Lorna, Editor

closed marlow jeans 2 Denim Review: Closed Marlow Boyfriend Skinny Jeans

This weeks denim review is on a pair of Closed Marlow skinny boyfriend fit jeans that I received to review for you all. This is my third time doing a review on the brand, so it makes a change to do a different fit compared to the two moto styles that I tried before. I also like the fact that these are different to my usual reviews of the classic super skinny jeans and jeggings. Closed don’t seem to list their washes on their website, so I am not 100% sure what the wash of these is. It’s also not listed on any of the labels inside the jeans, but I think I have linked to the right pair at the bottom of this review.
