Mardou&Dean Jeans & Spring 2010 Look Book

UPDATE: I wanted to include how gorgeous Mardou&Dean Jeans actually are. I tried a pair today and they are fantastic, I never expected (for a not so well named brand) that they would be of as great quality as they are. The denim is lovely, the fit is very very good, I love the fit, the pockets are in the right place for a flattering fit on the butt, the wash is beautiful, I love all of the little details including the little silver metal tag that is attached to the belt loop, the way the button fly goes off to one angle and the fact that they are very well presented and come in their own dark blue satin bag. I definitely recommend the brand for someone who is looking to try new jeans! For reference I own the women’s skinny jeans in Stone wash which are pictured below.
The brand name Mardou&Dean is inspired by the novels written by Beatnik author Jack Kerouac. Mardou&Dean is a Oslo based denim label making jeans for both men and women. Some of the styles in their look book are really hot! I have fallen in love with quite a few pairs.
Mardou&Dean showed its first collection of denim in the autumn of 2007 consisting of one model for men and one for women. There were in total a hundred pairs produced in a small town in Italy. Today the brand has expanded into more than ten models for women and an equal number for men. The jeans are still produced in the same little town in Italy as the first hundred, employing high quality denim throughout the line either from Italy or Japan.
The denim line is divided between two lines, the more classic styles and the more avant-garde ones, this allowing the brand to be both timeless and fashionable at the same time. Overall the jeans are developed with care down to each and every detail. The jeans pay close attention to a very original wide and slightly open fly, the position of the brand label, the engraved buttons and rivets made in Italy, and the placement of the back pockets which they promise will give everyone a perfect bottom! Celebs like Brandy and Byrdie Bell are already fans of the brand.
Mardou&Dean is constantly aiming to express and develop itself by collaboration with other creatives, and at the same time help young talents to be seen. It could be through photography, art, music etc, please see their websites for a better understanding.
The brand is currently retailing in Norway, Finland, Italy and the US.

Fresh Ink Jeans

Fresh Ink is a interesting, cool, downtown denim brand. With a celebrity following of hip and trendy celebs like Camilla Belle and models like Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Julie Henderson, the brand is now taking their line to new levels with the introduction of three new categories: Luxe, Vintage and Classic. The pricing point for their jeans is around $100, not too expensive and not too cheap. Here is part of their press release:
Ink is art. It is the blood of design; it creates lyrics. It gets under your skin. Fresh Ink is clothes for now. Its clothes for the future. Its clothes you want to wear. Its clothes that truly fit. Fresh Ink brings to the American contemporary sportswear market a women’s + men’s Designer Collection that fuses impeccable, nu-classic denim and redefined wardrobe basics with indelible cool. Drawn from the minds of some of America’s proven fashion industry visionaries, Fresh Ink is not for everyone. It’s beyond trend and imitation. Fresh Ink is sub-culture + thought + quality + fit. With creative conviction, Fresh Ink integrates design, art, music, color and vision, creating a true denim-based Collection. Fresh Inks basic denim bodies are beyond comparison in fit, finish and fabrication – updated classicstyles that have been reinterpreted for today. Fresh Ink draws life into the modern flare with ‘Yume’ – the next essential jean. Straight, skinny, flare, trouser and wide-leg are all reincarnated through infinitely considered details. Clean – plain + cool = Fresh Ink denim. Add to the mix redeveloped non-denim styles like shorts, skirts, dresses, jackets and outerwear that give you what you want, without what everyone else has. Luxury meets relaxed style for on-the-go, in-the-know people. More importantly, Fresh Ink liberates its people from the tyranny of the premium denim market, offering superior quality but at its own, democratic price point. Some of America’s most directional retailers appreciate Fresh Ink’s manifesto: Barney’s Co-Op, E Street Denim Co., National Jean Company, Flirt Brooklyn, Rock on Main among others.
