According to Women’s Wear Daily, celeb favorite April 77 has stopped production.

Founded in 2001 in Grenoble by designer Brice Partouche, the trendy label was sold in about 80 specialty stores in the U.S., including Barneys New York, Blackbird and Oak. However, in recent seasons the company faced serious financial and production issues, failing to deliver fall ’09 orders to major retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s.

The line was represented in the U.S. by New York-based Archetype Showroom, which sent out a letter to buyers in recent weeks informing them of April77’s closure and that no spring ’10 merchandise would be delivered.

“Unfortunately after much internal trouble, April77 is not in a financial position to be able to finish production and deliver your goods,” read the note from the showroom’s founder, Audrey Gingras. “I am truly sorry for the strain that this may cause you, as well as for the lack of forewarning. We are very distraught here at Archetype to have learned of this situation, especially as it is so late in the season to learn of such a problem.”

In late 2008, April77 tapped a new chief executive officer, Bernard Didier, and chief financial officer, Didier Affre.

The brand was known for directional denim, which sold for $140 to $350. Jeanswear made up about 65 percent of sales, with a contemporary sportswear line accounting for the remainder of business. Men’s wear comprised about 60 percent of sales and women’s wear 40 percent.

“Music, youth movements and underground culture have always been the main inspiration for my design,” Partouche told WWD last year.

“There was a lot of potential for this brand and it was a profitable, viable business for seven years. But in the past year, it sort of deteriorated,” said Gingras, who added April77 owed her six figures in unpaid sales commissions and expenses.

Animal Print has been pretty big this season when it comes to tops, shoes and dresses, but what do you think of these animal print skinny jeans by April 77? I personally feel they are too loud for me and I wouldn’t wear them. They have released the Zebra print skinny and the Panther print skinny. Would you wear this trend? I think when worn right and paired with a subtle plain top and plain shoes it could look good on those who can rock this look. If I had to pick one, I would definitely pick the Panther print over the Zebra print, it looks more easy to wear.

Celebrity heartthrob, Josh Hartnett, smiled happily to the cameras as he promoted his new movie ‘I Come with the Rain‘ at the 14th Pusan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea. Josh looked pretty smart in his shirt, tie and April 77 skinny jeans. The movie gets its official release on 15th October in South Korea. It’s about an ex-Los Angeles cop turned private eye named Kline (Josh) who travels to Hong Kong in search of Shitao, the missing son of a Chinese billionaire. Josh has been seen twice before in April 77 jeans.

Zac Efron was spotted in Burbank, California wearing his April 77 Jeans. He is a great fan of April 77 Jeans and wears them often. The T-shirt and the Beanie set this outfit off nicely. Zac recently got his hair cut by La Peer Salon in Beverley Hills, I think it suits him nicely!

Zac Efron was seen out in Santa Monica with his skateboard wearing his black April 77 jeans. I love that when Zac gets a new pair of jeans he seems to wear them loads like his Diesel Thanaz 73J, Thanaz 8DK and now his April 77s. He has also worn his raw Nudie jeans a lot. Here he is as well at the Lakers game the other day wearing them.

Zac Efron has been seen wearing 2 pairs of April 77 skinny jeans with his YSL Rollings shoes, as he promotes his movie 17 Again in Tokyo, Japan. He has worn these shoes so many times, it’s a wonder they don’t look more worn out. Zac has the grey pair we have seen him in before and a black pair. He also wore the grey ones for a photoshoot. I wonder if he is going to wear these as much as his Diesel thanaz 73J? Josh Hartnett is also a fan of April 77 jeans.
