anyone use Nuva-ring? - Page 2

does the ring or other brands of the pill cause you to break out? i need to get on some kind of contreceptive again but am kind of skeptical cause mircette caused my face to go crazy! i don't really want to take another chance with that. i'm sure each person has different reactions to different products though. i should talk to my obgyn.. haha

Let me start off by telling you that it was not my first choice though . . .

I was on depo-provera for almost 10 years When I was first given it, I was NEVER told about the serious consequences . . . well, I was diagnosed with full-blown osteoporosis at age 28

So, I obviously had to find a new form of BC. I went to the doctor's and I was really against the pill cause I don't want to have to think about BC every day. I was provided with a non-hormonal IUD that lasted for 10 years . . . or so I thought. It fell out after a few months and I was back to the drawing board.

After a lot of talking with my doctor and my own research, I decided on the nuva-ring. I was very skeptical at first. However, I have been on it since July and I have had no side-effects or problems. I have to say that I am pleased. The only downside , IMO, is that it has to be replaced once each month.

If you have any more questions, PM me
sounds like my life story... depo for 4 years, osteopenia at 22. my bone scan was -1.7 in some places... horrible horrible horrible! i actually got 4 stress fractures from "over-exercising" (i explained my attempt at the USMC in another thread ) one in my right femur. my obgyn basically said that they happened because my bones were so weak!

i've been on nuvaring since may 2005 and love it. it's really easy and i don't have any side effects

So I just started on Nuvaring two weeks ago - and I LOVE IT! Best birth control ever. I was initially skeeved about the insertion process, but turns out it is waaaaay easier and not yucky like I thought. It's still too early to know if I'll have funky side effects but so far it's great. Yay!

My only side effect with the Marvelon is that for a couple of days before my period I have these raging headaches....really bad, not full blown migranes but pretty close! Going to have to talk to my dr about this Anyone else experience headaches around the time of their period?

nuvaring

Nuvaring was the last BC I was on, before my husband went under the knife. I was on the pill and depo for a while but my periods were soooo irregular, we thought we would try this out. ( I say 'we' only bcause I was my dr's first patient to try it). When I was on it, I loved it. I was told some people will not have any period, some people will spot, some people will have breakout bleeding, some will have very regular periods... since I havent had a regular period for about 5 years, I was super happy when I would go 3 months with no bleeding, a month of light to moderate, nothing for a couple of months.. etc.
I have been off it for about 5 months now and went the frist 2 without getting a period at all... and then the horror.
I was bleeding heavy, every day, for a month! I would have a week off, and then it would start up again.
I just had an ultrasound to see if there was cause for concern and was told that I had cycts on my ovaries, which can be pretty common in women my age, but probably grew to 3 times their size because of the extra hormones and the fact that I hadnt had a period for so long.
I am happy to say that the last month was completely normal, normal period, no spotting, am just waiting for my next one to come. Dr is going to keep an eye on me, I have my physical next month as well.

So there is my shared experience on it and now off it.
everyone is different.
