I do think crowns are a little played out especially when there are nasty fakes all over my campus, with that said i still LOVE my REAL crystal crowns! They are gorgeous and fit perfectly

the best analogy i can draw is that crowns are to denim what louis vuitton is to handbags. they are all about the logo, highly sought after and considered extremely exclusive. because of this, the backlash has been significant, in that (as LV) crowns are one of the most highly faked styles of designer denim. i can pick out a fake LV or pair of crowns in a crowd, but most people can't.

i think if anything, the crystals are played out (i think we hit overload when sfam introduced the great china walls) but the VB line will go up price after this current market saturation calms down. i mean, look at it this way.... i love my monogram accessories pouch that i got 5 years ago... i'll probably use it until it falls apart, but who is really still rocking the graffiti logo bag?

However, I don't know if R&R has the same staying power as LV. They have been around for decades, whereas R&R has yet to stand the test of time because it's very new on the market in terms of long-term focus. We'll see how it goes.. I want to see less R&R at discount places.

I think fake LV's are very easy to tell even for the general public, but not so much with R&R because it's not everywhere and people aren't that familiar with the brand yet.

I couldn't agree more!

There's always a good/bad side when designer jeans are sold for a cheap price at discount stores or outlets. It's great because us jean fanatics can add to our collection without making a hole in our wallets but then the jeans lose their exclusiveness because more people can afford them. I wonder if the people who are picking up their first pair of Rock & Republic at discount places have ever heard of the brand...

that is fair. because the premium denim thing is so (relatively) new, i guess no one knows what will stand the test of time. i just used the analogy because the LV monogram so highly faked (and some of the fakes look pretty good to the untrained eye) and up until recently, the vast majority of crowns on ebay were fake as well (look like crap, but most people dont know/care how to authenticate).

I have never seen a pair of crowns on anyone in person..not even a fake pair. I walked in a high end boutique the other day that sold primarily R&R jeans. Both girls that were running the store at the time told me I had cute jeans on and wanted to know what they were!!!..( I was wearing crowns).

It is kind of weird how it is apparently the best selling style yet we never see anyone wearing them. I have only seen 2 pairs of True Religion, One Antik, a few Diesel, and ONE Rock and Republic. Most were seen in Wholefoods. You see lots of good jeans in whole foods...
