i too, have osteopenia... i got mine from using depo-provera for 4 years.

in october 2004, i went to marine corps officer candidates school in virginia. the training is 10 weeks long and at the end of the 5th week my right femur was in a horrendous amount of pain. the MC sent me the next week up to the naval hospital in bethesda MD and had a bone scan done on me. i had 4 stress fractures: 2 in my left foot, 1 in my right, and sure enough 1 in my right femur. they sent me home and i was on crutches for 3 months. i still have pain in my leg from time to time where the stress fx was in my femur.

i went back to my dr in february 2005 to get my depo shot. they gave it to me and then decided to do a bone density scan. that's when i found out i had osteopenia. i switched BC after the shot ran out to nuvaring. i attended an osteoporosis class put on by kaiser and the next person closest in age to me was about 40 years older. i was 22 at the time. the doctor running the class looked at me weird.

i've been on fosamax for about 2 years now. i strongly recommend you get put on that if you haven't been put on it already... this is for both you jessani and ccmac. i'll probably have to take it for the rest of my life.

also, i don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but do take calcium in doses no larger than 500mg. that's the most your body can absorb at one time. so taking a whole gram of calcium is a waste since your body can only use half. try to get 2 gms in a day.

Thanks for the advice on digestive enzymes. I think I'll try it. I do eat a ton of yogurt but not plain yogurt and I love papaya but when it's not in season, it just doesn't taste that great.
