The TR popularity decline - Page 2

i really love tr styles but none seem to fit me properly. they're kinda baggy around the bum and thighs (not a lot, but kinda).. this has been the case with sammy and johnny (somewhat)

my julies are perfect. i have joeys coming in the mail so hopefully they'll be okay!

very few

I am confused cause I dont see any kind of change reguarding authenticators
post #29 of 52
TR are nice but not that much variety. I tried on a pair today and i got the impression they are making there jeans bigger/baggier for men.

I love my TR. But I honestly think this forum got slower once TR were seen at Target. It seems like when that thread was going this forum was still super popular. So to agree with Lisa Marie (sp?) I think it's not a busy because it's easier to get them for a good price.

I still love my TR's though Definatly my fav's! And honestly I feel pretty secure with my authenticating skills that I don't always check here if I plan on bidding on a pair.

Ah TR. I am dieing for a pair of Johnny Big T's in black or grey, maybe for xmas

I love TRs, but I agree with those of you who said they definitely need more washes! It seems like they have very few and the ones they do have are similar.

I can say the same for you also I dont see you around either maybe you should bring the thread what tr are you wearing today back to life
post #34 of 52
i think they've declined in popularity too ... but i don't know why

i'm kinda getting sick of the trs (ahhhh !! ) just because everytime i wear heels i feel like i'm in a rodeo because of the big stitching ... i dunno i have a thing.

but they will always be my first demin love
post #35 of 52
I also noticed that there has been a decline lately...
I simply moved on because I had been wearing them for a few years and was ready for a change...I need a different style and fit personally and TR only has a few options to choose from regarding cuts...I did this same thing with SFAM years back... it is only natural after years of wearing the same brand to branch off and try something new...
I think that with the forum being locked now that TR may get less and less exposure because there are no new people coming in....
I personally have seen more and more tr on women in my suburban grocery store...which never happened before...so I think the brand is doing fine it is just slow on the forum...

My sentiments exactly
^^ that's true...last year the only person I ever saw wearing TR was myself...and now I see at least one person a day with them!
I think that the TR forum is slow because each style is similar. It seems like once you have one Bobby, One Joey and one sammy you basically have them all. I love the speciality true religion, like the embroidered ones and the rainbows, but now the other ones (Except the super t, which I NEED) are just...blah. I'll still buy and wear True Religion, but I just won't spend as much money on each individual pair as I once would have.

Off Topic, but did anyone hear the end of the TR Target case. Last I heard, they ended up actually being FAKE Trs at target...? Any news there?
TR are definitely my second favorite brand. My TR joeys fit like a dream. I am getting stellas soon, hope they work out. But the problem is I can't imagine having tons of TR cause they will always look really similar, whereas R&R has tons of diff pockets and washes.
I love my joeys and sammys. I want to try johnny's but I'm terrified. I tried on the julies, and they didn't work for me at all, which sucked b/c they were gorgeous. Anybody know how Johnnys run?
my johnnys are really low, which i like. as far as sizing i think it still just depends on the wash.

and i actually love TR for the opposite of the reason exquisite doesn't. i have bigger thighs (apparently) and I never have a problem with that in my TRs. Sevens, on the other hand, are always too tight for me in the thighs so i gave up on them a while ago

I definately do not think TRs are on the decline in reality, but definately on this forum. When I go to the mall, I see tons of TRs on guys and girls - they also sell out immediately at Nordstrom and Neimans. I have too many pairs that I do not need to buy any more unless they came out with really nice darker washes. I have moved over to RR just because they do have the darker washes. Pretty sure that others are doing the same

^ and I'm one of them.

I agree w/ everyone who has said that TR needs more variety. Plus, while mass marketing and getting their product out to everyone via selling in stores like Target is good for overall sales, it sucks for ppl who take their jeans seriously and want to be one of the few wearing a particular brand (e.g. people in this forum wearing TRs). It is kinda like when your fav band gets really popular and and mass-marketed to the point where you don't want to like them anymore bc suddenly everyone and their mom loves the band (e.g. dashboard confessional)...

The overall picture here is that TR as a company is still doing well as a company. The opening of new stores and stocks price growing steady shows that the company is expanding.

There haven't been many new design out by TR but they have been expending in other areas beyond jeans like cord, jackets, kids, shirts, skirt, shorts, velvet, fleece, hoodies and even tank tops.

Even though TR populairity have decline here lately, it hasn't decline on eBay. An end of auction price for a pair of TR on eBay is still in the $90 - $160 average range. Too me, the deals are not any better then RR.

I think that TR has been one of the most popular and famous brands of premium denim for some time now. if you want something "unique" and obscure, then TR hasn't been for you for some time.
Yeah, when bands sing about a brand (like TR), then it's not obscure at all.... LOL

I think you missed the point. I was trying to say that many ppl in this forum do not like wearing jeans that mass america wears, so when TR starts selling in mass america stores (like target), popularity will decrease with ppl in this forum.
This is much like the phenomenon of when a band that was once small with a small cult following gets big and their hardcore fans don't like them as much anymore because they are so mass marketed.

I love TR Joey's & Billy's

I'm confused about no one being accurately being able to authenticate TRs. Luvapup is the TR authenticating queen and has an awesome guide up on Ebay.

I noticed that there has been a decline for Men in TR because they cannot keept compete with the various styles and washes Diesel has.

I personally feel that there is a decline in 7FAM. I also think R&R will decline a little pretty soon, especially when I look in HM and see floods of R&R left over from that sale at Nordies a month ago and people started calling all around the US to buy and resell them.

Lisa, do I detect a hint of sarcasm here?
