Tell me about detoxing!

Oh, new board! I just found this section last night and I have a question that would be best answered here

My question is about detoxing. Anyone else here try it? Can you tell me a bout your experiences?

I bought the Boots (European brand) 5-day kit and I'm trying it out to see what it's like. My boss tried detoxing a few weeks ago (but he did it by eating nothing but unprocessed oatmeal and raw foods for a week!) and said he felt much better after.

I'm in my final year of college and I feel tired and grumpy and sluggish all the time from eating nothing but processed dining hall food and junk. I hope detoxing would make me feel revitalized again. What I got is this liquid stuff that I'm supposed to mix with water and drink. I am just a few hours into the detox and I already think this stuff tastes terrible and I'm not even 1/4 of the way through my first bottle. I really want to add Splenda to it but that just adds more chemicals back into my body and defeats the entire purpose

my friend's boyfriend does a fasting/detox thing where all you drink is water and fruit/veggie juice that he has to make himself with a blender. I think he usually does it for 5-7 days.

I tried it... but I was STARVING the entire.... DAY that I lasted! Good luck! Update us on how it goes!

I didn't realize that part of detox was also weight loss (well since you basiclly can't eat ANYTHING good!).... I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and that liquid would just target chemicals/toxins and flush them out. Grr.

But it is true I don't get anywhere near the recommended amount of fruits/veggies in my diet. Hmm this honeydew IS pretty good.

^so I just read that entire thread about Lipo/detox.. I really wanna try it now! Has anyone else (besdies POOH) tried it and how did it go???

Melody~ A friend of mine from high school lost about 100 lbs. (no joke!) just by changing his diet so he only eats raw fruits and veggies (granted, this took him over a year, but still), I guess this detox program for you could pay off indefinitely if you make the entire lifestyle change

I am in the middle of a 30 day detox. In the morning I take 3 capsules and then 15 minutes later drink this gross, sluggy, twiggy fiber drink and then at night have some tea. Basically, it makes me go to the bathroom after every meal I eat. The first couple of days I really didn't feel any different, then just yesterday I started feeling better....lighter and less bloated etc. My tummy doesn't feel as round and bloated as it usually does. Don't think I have noticed any weight loss yet but I likely will after 30 days of non-stop bathroom trips Whereas I saw lucky if I was going to the bathroom 3-4 times a week, very irregular and tons of bloat and just general lazy intestines!

It is going to be hard to stick it out for the whole 30 days, but I will do it and I am pretty sure that my system will be completely cleaned out

That would be great if you could! Thanks

And thanks also to everyone who has responded... I have glanced through that other thread but I guess I should have done better research because I didn't realize detox and colon cleansing were so smiliar. Or are they? Maybe I am confused.

But the stuff I am drinking is terrible tasting. I didn't finish yesterday's allotment and have yet to start on todays. I just have no willpower But at least I have been making a point to eat better. I have had more fresh fruit and veggies in the past two days than what I've had probably in the whole last month!!
I think what is great about the LBB poohbaby told us about is that you don't have to go through a fasting or icky tasting liquid or anything. You just take the pills at mealtimes...

I also heard from a friend who did it that an ionic foot cleanse at a spa detoxed her of heavy metals!
Melody - I hear you!!! The stuff that I have to drink is really disgusting too...it is thick and lumpy and I have to guzzle it down or else The one that I have is based on Chinese medicine and herbs and if anyone out there has ever had some of that Chinese tea that you have to boil down from bark/mushrooms etc, you know it's not very tasty I am only on day 11 of 30

OOO, how did I miss this? Sorry.

Yep, detoxing and cleansing is my thing. I am sure I can help and there are a few people doing a colon cleansing using that product here that can let you know what it is doing for them. There are other things you can do too, easy and cheap, to help heavy metal detox, which from what you said earlier, sounds like you are interested in as well. I only have a sec right now, but I will be back tonight to give you some information and some links to different stuff if you are interested. I am more then positive I can point you in a good direction.

OK, I read up on your 5 day Boots cleanse. Didn't have to really becasue it is impossible to detox in 5 days. It took you years to build up those toxins and it will take some time to get rid of them.

First you want to make sure you are pooing at least once a day. You want to make sure you are elininating what you are drawing out. Read this for colon health information to know why you are doing this. t h e d o c t o r w i t h i n It sounds like you want a quick pick me up so I would suggest either colosan or Oxypowder for a 2 week cleanse. You will have a fast energy boost.

You need a clean liver as well. Natural Liver Cleanse
And you need to stop contributing to the build up of toxins. I would stop all chemicals in and on the body. Switch to all natural products, especally shampoo, soaps and lotions. Stop the fluoride toothpaste, it is the largest contributor to brain fog.

You can eats lots of things that detox heavy metals from the body, cilantro, pineapple apple cider and apple cider vinegar. You can also reaserch heavy metal chelation. I have used EXTREME HEALTH products, Oral Chelation and Age-less Formula for heavy metal detox. I also have a recipe for cilantro pesto that is supposed to detox most metals in 2 weeks. Let me know if you are interested.

I can't find any information on that one. Give me the list of ingredietns and I can at least tell you what they are for, if they are herbal. I can probably also tell you if that have a stimulant in them, which you don't want and definitely do not want to take long term.

I prefer herbal and natural, no stimulants. Some brands are better then others. I prefer 100% organic herbs not commercially made(whihc sometimes uses chemical in the processing and impotent herbs).

OK, it looks to me like you have 3 cleansers in one here, meaning you are cleansing at least 3 bodily systems at once. The capsule is made up of mostly anti parasitic herbs. It is to kill the parasites in your digestive tract, a VERY important part of any cleansing routine. There are a couple of herbs in there that I am not sure why thy used them, but they won't hurt you.

The second part of your cleanser is for the digestive system, hence the fiber and the psyllium husk. You also have some anti spasmodic herbs in there to keep you from cramping. You also have some kidney herbs in there the uvi ursi and unicorn are specifically for the kidneys and the slippery elm bark is specifically for healing the stomach and intestinal lining but it is usally made into a paste that you eat like a greul or oatmeal. The psyllum and fiber expand in your intestines to act as a broom to sweep it out and th spasmodic herbs contract the intestines to push it through.

The tea is still working on the bowels and the main one here is the casgara Sagrada which is a spasmodic herb that causes the intestines to contract.

There are some liver herbs in there as well. So all in all you have a lot of herbs there and all of them produce results. it is a little excessive but again, it won't hurt you. It seems to be an easy product to take and it looks pretty good to me. Please let me know what kind of results you are having with it like how much it makes you go and what you see when you go. PM if you want it private, that's no problem for me. I would like to try it if you like it becasue it seems like an easy program to follow. I like the tea part best becasue an herbalist will tell you that you should taste your herbs and when they are in pill form you don't really do that. You do absorb a lot of things in your mouth so that tea should be pretty good. but most herbs taste like crap hehehehehe.

As long as you are pooping at least once a day on this I think you should be fine. You want to make sure that all the bugs you are klling and the viruses they carry get flushed out fast so they don't reinfect you. Cold symptoms are common with killing parasites so if you get a stuffy nose or sore throat, I would not be surprised. Just keep pullging away at it.

The 30 days is for the parasites. They have life cycles and you must kill through a few cycles to make sure you get them all. Colon cleasning should be daily for life but parasites you can do twice a year and that is enough. You can't help but pick up parasites so the goal is not to kill all of them(some of them are actually good for you) the goal is to keep them from getting too out of control. You may also want to consider taking a probiotic with this cleanse or shortly after for a month or two to repopulate the healthy good bacteria in your body. This will kill good stuff as well as bad stuff but you need the good bacteria to aid in digestion and probiotic will do that for you.

Looks good, well done finding it. Now it is just up to how it works for you. And please do let me know!

Oh that's good to hear! It's going pretty well and I am sticking to it....even though the fiber drink tastes terrible and it pretty chunky But I guzzle it down FAST so it's over quickly Basically it seems to make me go after every meal, if I don't eat much during the day my stomach gets a little upset like it wants to expel something but there is nothing there? Before starting this I was lucky if I went 3-4 times a WEEK, not a day so going 3-4 times a DAY is something new for me. My stool is very soft and easy to pass *warning graffic* although sometimes it seems more like mucous than stool? However, I haven't noticed any difference weight wise and my tummy still seems alittle bloated at times. Granted I am not doing this for weight loss but rather to get my digestion on the right track, I have always felt like I have somewhat of a "lazy" intestine and my doctor has somewhat diagnosed me with IBS.

my aunt sells advocare products (vitamins, health drinks, etc) and they have a herbal cleanse product that i would highly reccommend. Be sure to read the product ingredients and details link at the bottom of the page

If you are going that much from 3-4 times a week, I' say that is an awesome porduct!!!!! The stomach upset can very well be the herbs. Some are very pungent and if they aren' taken with food can upset the stomach, the yellow dock and the genetian are emetic herbs so that can account for the feeling of needing to expel.

The mucous is most likely candida, yeast albicans and/or mucous being produced from your diet. If you eat a lot of dairy you can produce tons of it. but I would say most likely since you are doing a parasite cleanse that it is yeast related and it is very good you are pooping it out. It's called a die off. If this stops happening, you might want to add to the parasite program. Yeast albicans are known to be very difficult to control and they beceome immune to things quickly. You just need to switch things up a bit, maybe add an olive leaf supplement or Wild Oregano oil for a week to your routine and that will keep killing it. But that is only if you see the mucous stop. I have a good site that shows some picturs of what candida die off look slike so you can compare if you are interested. let me know and I will PM it to you since it is kind of gross and some peope might object.

Have you had any stuffy noses or sore throat feelings? Have you felt really really tired one day then great the next?

The fiber drink taste chalky and feels grainy from the psyllium husk. It's kind of like cream of wheat that expands when it gets wet, which is how it works in the intestines. It expands and lightly scrapes the walls of the intestines to clean them out. It's commonly called an intestinal broom. The bloating is most likely the yeast in your body trying depserately to survive. Bloating( in cleasning ) is almost always a parasitic reaction.

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING grosses me out. I consider myself a fecal engineer. I have 3 cats, a dog and 2 children in diapers. My day starts by cleaning up a LOT of poop. I have seen it all. Don't worry.

Thanks. I try. Really anyone can benefit from cleasning. Toxins are unavoidable so we all have them stored somewhere in our bodies.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone here done the Master Cleanse at all?

I've done it three times to varying degrees of success. The longest was 21 days...that was hard, but good.

I would do it more frequently if not for the salt water flush...I just can't afford to have my butt glued to a toilet for 2 hours a day.
