Canadian girls - any of you worked at Aritzia before?

Or know of anyone who has? My friend recently got hired there but she hasn't gone for orientation/training yet. I'm thinking of applyin, too but would like to hear from others who have worked for Aritzia (specifically...I know about general retail) as to what it's like there? What your discount/pay was like? Etc. TIA!

i've had a couple friends that've worked there before and one that still does. From what i've heard, they didn't really enjoy it too much. They say its very competitive for sales because you have a quota to meet. I believe pay is min wage, or slightly above and i think the discount was only 15%?
I believe the discount is 30?

Anyways, I haven't worked there, but early last year I went through the interview process. I got the job but turned it down because the divisional HR manager (or something like that) was a bitch to me in the second interview. They were offering me $8 or $8.50 I think.

I got a job that was much better paying, so the discount at Aritzia wouldn't have been that worth it.

my best friend worked at the aritzia @ hill's of kerrisdale. she says that the culture is really competitive, and not just in sales. the girls compete with each other in general --looks, style, school, boyfriends, etc.

she got a 30-40% discount.

but at least your friend will be slightly more stylish than the average.

yeah, I hear about the same. I've had friends who have worked there and my cousin still works there. It is competitive for sales to say the least, so depending on how well you adjust to the environment, I think, would determine whether the discount is worth it or not. I hear that the discount is 30% but it varies depending on the brand.

i've heard horror stories about aritzia girls.. mainly that they're snotty i'm-too-high-fashion-for-you bitches. but whatevs, i shop there but would not want to work there.

Haha that sounds all too familiar to me!

My brother's friend is the floor manager at one of the Aritzia stores, and she said her managers treat her like sh*t! I think she's leaving... and she said her discount was 30%, but whatever she buys is only limit to her size (of course).

UGh, I have never worked there but being a shopper there, I can already feel the tension between the sales reps fighting for commission. The discount there is 30% off. But you have to wait for the item to be out on the rack for sale for 2 or three weeks before you can used your employee discount on the item.

I don't believe they actually work on commission, rather, it's just a quota (as mentioned above).

I have a friend who used to work for them, they stuck her at Kookai though (where, in the same mall, Oakridge, resides the flagship Aritzia store). Anyway, needless to say, if there's a huge Aritzia a few stores down, who's going to shop at the puny Kookai store? She got fired for not meeting the quota. But honestly, I doubt even the manager was anywhere close to it!

yeah i only go shop at Aritzia if i really really have to...the girls who work there are most often very stuck up and don't really know anything and will bs anything to get the sale...it's really annoying...plus dont like getting eyed up n down from the back when im shopping

i heard that even Blue Ruby (part of the parent company) girls get 30% for aritzia as well.

Two friends that worked there were getting paid the minimum wage in BC ($8.00), and I think their quota per hour was $150-175? One of them worked there for quite a long time, and another found the quota (and chasing after sales) too stressful, so she quit. I think the stress would be marking someone for 'territory' before the other girls... I've seen two sales reps get into heated tension because one claimed she helped my friend first before the other.

I don't think the atmosphere is really that bad. I used to work there for seasonal (Winter)- so I wasn't in sales... I did the actual 'hard' work :P Working with the girls that I did, and just walking in different Aritzias (in the Lower Mainland), I've never really encountered the whole "snotty" attitude- the sales people cannot be stuck up if they're trying to make sales; I generally find them really helpful and sweet.

My mistake. But you all know what I mean... I can feel the tension between the girls trying to steal each other's customers.

Whenever I try something on at Aritzia, and I know it looks bad, it pisses the HELL outta me when they tell me it looks good!

i went through the SAME thing! did the HR manager have brown hair and glasses?
mann, i remember getting so peeved during the 2nd interview... i already made up my mind about not wanting to work for a co. w/ biatches like that even before the interview was over.

IMO I think the bloor location has the worst of the worst though. They're SO catty and stuck up, it's almost impossible to get to the back of the store without being eyed up and down by every person that works there.

^ Haha, then maybe somebody in hot pink tights, bright orange t-shirt should strut in there and give them attitude. Try on a gazillion things and walk out with zilch. Just to make them work, you know

You guys ever notice that you guys get better treatment if you dress in your designer jeans and simple (but quality) tops?

I do.

Not saying it's a bad thing, really. I liked it when they asked me about my Antiks...

My best friend is a store manager at aritzia and i know a couple of sales people from other stores... pm me azia if you like. I rather not defame the company here.... plus, my friend would KILL me if she knew.

I'm a bum and I get serious 'meh' treatment. It pisses me off so I go less and less often.

Yup! Short brown hair and glasses. Interviewed at their regional office in Forest Hill. She was such a b****! I'm suprised that I was called and got the job after that, because I was so pissed walking out of that interview.

Just her general attitude.

I have a high GPA, I've won a bunch of academic awards, and I'm involved in extra-curriculars.....her response to reading that off my resume was "Well, you're making yourself sound very good, is there anything you can't do?" (said in a really bitchy sarcastic way).

I would politely end the interview if the interviewer was being unprofessional even if I really wanted the job. Although not always the case, It's just reflects very poorly on how well you'll be treated as an employee in the future.
