Zathan 71J, sizing problems

post #1 of 69

Hi, I bought a pair of Zathan 71J in 28x32, and they're super hot. The problem is that I feel they're a little too tight. The rule of thumb is to size up from your Zaf size, right? That would have placed me with 29x32 for Zathans, but I fit the 28 waist very well (if a little tightly), so I went with it.

I haven't worn them for more than a few hours, but the thighs are skin-tight (as you can see from the rear-view picture. I'm afraid they won't stretch out, because I really would prefer a looser thigh. Should I have sized up to 29?

If I had gone with 29, my main concern would be the waist size, because the waist on a pair of stretched-out 29x32 Zathan 86T's are loose enough for me to need a belt.

Anyhow, should I sell these 28x32's and get a bigger size?

i say they are good and maybe you couldve sized down again

no need whatsoever to size up

those fit perfectly

yeah those fit well now, however, they will stretch of course. are you able to "pinch" any of the jean material at or behind your thigh? if so, you could size down like blackcandy said. all depends on how you want them to fit.

Those are hot!!! IMO no need to size up!

Yes, I CAN pinch the material in the thigh, but about sizing down to 27 - no thanks, guys, but I prefer to wear underwear with my jeans. =P

Alright, you guys have convinced me to stick with 28. Thanks for your help.

I don't think size down is a good idea for him guys. He said the thighs are skin tight going another size down is going to make them even tighter and probably very uncomfortable xspecially when sitting down.

They look good, if you sized up they'd be too big.

i think it looks fine. i feel your pain as i'd like zathans to fit smaller in the waist as well. what does your 86t measure in the waist? and the 71j?

Well, the waist for the 29w 86T is currently ~15.8" (stretched out), while the 28w 71J's is ~14.8". I took the measurements after making the back rises as straight as possible.

My Farco 85W's were the same. Just do some squats and you'll be fine.

They look great, DEF don't size up. They WILL stretch out over a few weeks. I'm about to order my 27w direct from Diesel - I'm excited!

sorry to hijack...

Would I wear 30x32 or 29x32 in Zathan 71j?

For data points, my ideal sizes are...
* 29x32 in Shazor 60B but 30x32 in Shazor 71B
* 30x32 in Zaf (796 and 70
* 30x32 in most Zathans (e.g., 70M, 60F, 772), but 31x32 in some (e.g., 740, 770).

if 30x32 in shazor 71b fits you, definitely size down to 29 for 71j. my 26w shazor 71b is much tighter than my 26w zathan 71j.

those are perfect darkarmour, do not size up or down.

When I did my send sale from the diesel store, they told me to size down. I cant remember now if it was because they fit a little bigger or stretch.

wow, now i'm confused. Threadcrapping - here we go:

If I wear W29 in practically all my Zathans and Farcos (like, say 772, 796, 764, 60F, 82M etc.) and they generally fit tight, but could sometimes be a bit tighter after stretching -- what am I supposed to get in Shazor 71B and Zathan 71J? Could I fit into a W28 in one of those pairs or would I even need a W30 in one or the other?
post #21 of 69
29 in the shazor, 28 in the 71j

hey, thanks jskidder!

Not stretch denim, but they WILL stretch out after you wear them for a few weeks.

What's the actual length on Zathan 71J when it's tagged 32L? I hate it how there can be like a 3" difference between different cuts/washes in the supposed same size.
post #25 of 69
I've heard they run long, but does it matter if they do? You'll get them hemmed anyway, right? As long as they're not too short (if you order your reg. length, they won't be too short!)
