But these back pockets look waaaaay more contrasty than mine, but perhaps I just have to take a second look.

The contrast might be overexagerated by the golden sunlight and the digi-cam settings. Those small cams (I assume it is one) work with algorithms that sharpen contours, add contrast and turn up saturation automatically upon saving the pic to the storage device, ie the memory card.

photos were taken by phone (it's better and smaller, than carry camera) and as Von wrote, there was direct sunshine of the sunset during poses I hope you get what I mean.

And even most cell-phone cams work with the aforementioned algorithms.

actually i made SoC chip of DIGIC engine(C) and Real photo engine(F).
I can't say more about algorithm cos.... as u konw..

so , this is depend on Lens and CCD( or CMOS ) and knowhow of each company's.
Japan's model's CCD on mobile phone are almost 10Mpix now.
and storage(nand) is 8GB on mobile which made by almost my company.^^

actually apple's is not so good cos, apple does not make algo.
