Would you like a closeup of the labradoodle hair? It's ALL OVER me, my truck, and half of the toy aisle.

I love self-destroyed denim.

I must sound like a broken record by now but men's tailored clothing was my business and my life for over 10 years. I love finely crafted clothing ( in menswear, clothing refers to tailored suits and sportcoats). I can still remember the first time I tried on an Armani suit in Barneys. It was from his first American menswear collection. The feel of the Bemberg lining against my body and the texture on the Biella goods had me hooked for life. There is just something about fine clothing.
While I tend to stick to classic lines, I understand some peeps desire to interpret clothing on a personal level;to make it more current or "hip". I prefer to experiment with accessories or color or maybe piece goods. But, it's all good. There are certain social/business instances where traditional style is expected, but, apart from these occasions( I've stated this too many times to count).....wear whatever the fuck you want......with confidence....and enjoy wearing it!

I will say that fit is extremely important in clothing. A perfectly fitting Target suit will look a lot better than an ill fitting Brioni
(it's difficult to judge fit looking at self taken pics on this forum).

BTW: I still have that original Armani. it doesn't fit me anymore. I was a tiny kid when I bought it. It still is in great condition..any small guys interested in buying a rare, vintage Armani suit, (Armani doesn't even make this quality anymore), PM me...

Damn right. I worked part-time at a custom suitmaker in college...so that's where I'm coming from. I wore a lot of dumb shit, and my boss told me why it was dumb and what to wear instead.

Once you get to a certain level and have a certain eye, small details make a huge difference. And within the confines of sticking to the rules, the differences are many. You just have to mind the details.

F that....first of all, you didn't even call him a chav directly. Secondly, this place needs opinionated people with real fashion experience like yourself to balance out all the novelty-item-jocking, thoughtless compliment giving that goes on in here. When I post pics, I'm not looking for those...I'm looking for "jerks" like JSkidder to chime in and give their opinions. So go ahead and be an opinionated jerk. This is HONESTforum right?

Very well said There are many different ways of giving out opinions, and vagabond amongst others like jskidder, does it well imo.

*ETA* If you worked for a traditional custom tailor, I guarantee he would tell you that Thick As Thieves suits are dumb an ill fitting and poorly cut and yet they are considered suit gods by many. I just don't understand why you can't grasp that style/fashion is personal. Anybody can comment on someones style as long as they realize they are commenting from a personal perspective.....there is no right...there is no wrong....except for dress codes dictated by some social/business situations

The reality is, very few of us are getting it right...I don't want to hear some stupid, vapid compliment - I want to hear what I'm doing wrong so I can fix it. And if I want to disregard the advice, so be it.

Even PeterAlexia's criticisms were on-point, but he never posted pics of himself so it looked like he was afraid to take any flak himself.

What problem? I don't have a problem with being told I look ridiculous - my ego's not so fragile that it can't take a shot now and then. If my boss hadn't told me what was what, I'd still be wearing ties and shirts of the same color, I'd still be wearing bad Italian dress shoes, I'd still be committing any number of fashion f***-ups. But I guess there's no such thing as a fashion f***-up in "ElectricLadyLand," huh?

BTW, your reflexive negging of my posts and anyone who dares to agree w/them is really transparent. Just so you know.

Just so we can get this back on-track (in spite of how much I love debating this), I'll post a pic when I get back from lunch, and you can tell me how ridiculous I look.

^^^ I never negged any of your posts....i do comment however

Since I never asked him about them, I can't comment. Never bought anything from them either. I'd be interested to read/hear why "they are considered suit gods by many."

Yes, there's no "wrong" in the strictest sense - you're not going to be locked up for dressing a certain way. But every situation is a social situation, unless you're sitting in your room all day posting in WAYWT threads. If there are no standards and there is no right and wrong, let me go buy a pair of Khoffas, size up 5, and wear some pointy-toed shoes from the 70s. Then if anyone says "You're doing it wrong" I'll tell them they have a personal problem. Sound logical?

This is dumb...we've had the same argument three times now. I post an opinion, and you for some reason feel compelled to remind me that it's just my opinion. Don't you think I know that? The more you tell me that my opinions are a problem, the more it looks to me like you just have a problem with opinions. Or at least, opinions that are different than your "no right, no wrong" credo.
