OMG guys.. so i have this massive mosquito bite on my ankle that is now swollen! It wasn't this massive when I was bit.. it was more like 2-3 bites near the same area that I kept scratching and when I woke up this morning it just combined into a giant one!! It's itchy as hell even after soaking it up with AfterBite. I don't know what the hell bit me but it's irritating!!! I'd take a pic but I don't wanna gross anyone out. So has anyone experienced the same problem or have advice on how to stop the itch? TIA.

benadryl. it'll knock you out but it works very well for allergic reactions. If you experience any fever, headache, etc., go to a dr. asap.

Wow, that is swollen. I can't say anything helpful except try not scratching it. Ice and ant-itch cream is good.

Maybe its a spider bite?

Amputate!! Just kidding Are you sure it was a mosquito? Could be spider bite. Does it feel warm/hot? Tight feeling? When you scratch it and break the skin a little, does it ooze? DON'T SCRATCH IT You could be developing into cellulitis. A bacterial infection that starts as a scratch, bite, etc.. It spreads and if it gets into the 3rd layer of skin, it will be cellulitis. Yes, benadryl will help. But also try hydrocortisone cream for the itching and it if gets worse, see your MD

I'm allergic to mosquitos, so when they bite me, I swell up big time; like the size of a baseball. I usually just use benadryl or any other type of antihistamine (spelling?). I used to get some prescribed pills from the doctor b/c it was more severe when I was younger (high fevers, chills etc) but regular allergy medicine seems to do the trick now.

Mine don't usually go down for at least three days and it usualy feels very hot to touch. If you're really worried, you can visit your doctor just in case it isn't a mosquito bite.

Allergic here, too! I've never had any luck with benadryl, though. I usually keep cortizone on the area and hope for the best.

My super top-secret anti-itching advice: Put a bandaid over the bites! out of sight, out of mind... and with the bandaid on it you won't be able to itch it

Oh man now I'm quite skuuuurrred!!! It does feel warm/hot but I guess that's how my whole body feels. Also, it does have a tight feeling coz my skin's stretched from the swelling.

Anyway, the swelling has simmered down a bit but it's still itchy as fug. I've just been using the AfterBite and have yet to buy Benadryl. I hope it's not infected.

If that doesn't get better- you should get it checked out.

Side note-- they found west nile in a mosquito in a town 15 minutes away from my home-town...scary!

Yerp, you're allergic. My little sister is too, some time will heal it.

Also, if you're like my little sister.. you're going to be like candy to mosquitos. On family outings, the bugs prefer her over anyone else.

A little kid in my town died from west nile... so sad and now they say equine encephalitis is spread by mosquitoes (it used to be just ticks) so scary! Another reason to be very careful and watch those bug bites carefully. I guess some of the 1st signs are rashes and fever so if you see those, run to your MD.

Having closely studied your photo~I can indeed confirm two perfectly equal sized swellings~I suggest light and firm massages and possibly sucking to draw the bite out~If you need assistance~please do not hesitate to ask me for a more on hands approach to your "problem"~I will be more than happy to assist you :)

I'm a doctor and a good remedy is to eat more garlic. Allium nitrate is like cryptonite to those fuckers. Its the basis for most mosquito repellants.

Did you ever find out what happened? This just happened to me and not sure how to have it treated.
