yeah wtf will I get banned cause my girlfriend has her own account and wants log in @ my PC to post? Do we need to use the same account when we post?

Anys themeowmixcat has tons of posts and is a contributing member to this forum. Is banning contributing members really the right thing to do? IMO no ... ban 1 account and warning him seems like a good course of action to me.

From what I know, most are dynamically allocated these days, as there are not enough anymore to give everyone a static. If not, proxies. Either way, banning someone will not prevent them to return...

Not to mention that it does not renew automatically. It can take hours before your IP is sent back into the "pool" of address and it is reallocated to someone else.

Just use proxies.

That doesn't work always. Frequently the DCHP server will just give you the same IP. For a lot of them you'll need to either have a new MAC address or a new physical port on the switch. Or you can request one from the ISP. But dont assume that doing that will give you a new IP

I know, I've tried it before and it sometimes works, sometimes not. The way my ISP has set it up, the easiest way is to unplug everything for 24 hours, as their IP address lease is 24 hours (or call them, I guess).
That's not the point though, what I was trying to say was that simply banning someone and then dramatically announcing "X was disciplined" and locking the thread only makes you look ridiculous. Ridiculous does not equal powerful.

What is this thread about? The only thing I could find is this thread: http://www.honestforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=51718

It says I made one post from some IP. And it said that some other person made 3 posts from that same IP. I have made well over 3000 posts.

Maybe if I made 3000+ posts all from the same IP, but I use many computers in many different places, some of which may be assigned IP addresses that are assigned to other people at another time.

Sounds like crap to me.

No wonder people are mad at honestforum and leaving during the time I was away from here.
